Ian Hendry - Live now pay later - How to sell a vacuum cleaner....
Ian hendry absolutely excelled as Albert the tally-boy selling goods to gullable housewifes on the never-never. The film really encapsulates the post-war mood of the early 1960s. This little sequence was a comic look at all the stock standard sales ploys are brought into play. Live now pay later was one of the popular 'kitchen sink dramas' of the day.

Girl In The Headlines [1963] with Jeremy Brett
Girl In The Headlines [1963] with Jeremy Brett
This film has a very young cute Jeremy Brett in it! He seemed too young to me, I miss his winkles... especially love that long downward forehead line (I'm serious!). Denotes lots of thinking! :) I certainly think he became more distinguished, handsome and gentle with age (wouldn't swap older Jeremy for the world), though still lovely to see him in this of course! =) Oh by the way this video is a spoiler, thought I'd warn you. ;) Random information: I have heard that this was the first film to feature a gay club in it (when the actor living above the murdered girl is also murdered). In the film they call it a jazz club but it's clearly a gay club. Featuring a gay club was also very conversational. Thank goodness for the more liberal views of today's society on this one I say, it's at least something good about modern society (no one should feel or have to feel ashamed). I'm starting to ramble now, oopps. Background info: Chief Inspector Birkett (Ian Hendry) and Sergeant Saunders (Ronald Fraser) are called in to investigate the murder of a glamorous model. They discover that the murdered girl has led a chequered life and that her acquaintances include drug pushers. Jordan Barker (Jeremy Brett) and Hammond Barker (Peter Arne) are reluctant to help but when the police finally make an arrest, another murder occurs in a Soho Jazz café. But are the two murders connected? The song used is by Garbage ***I own nothing!*** Buy the DVDS and CDS! Please stop by and sign the petition ...

Amon Düül II: Syntelman's March Of The Roaring 70s (edit 1971Tanz Der Lemminge)
Amon Düül II: Syntelman's March Of The Roaring 70s (edit 1971Tanz Der Lemminge)
ADII's second consecutive double album (after the thunderous Yeti) is a humdinger! The opening epic, Syntelman's March Of The Roaring 70s is intriguing, bewitching, astonishing - this short passage is part break beats, funk folk and grooves with an intensity that fans of Talking Heads loved at the end of the decade........... Shuddering imagery from a needlessly complicated British low budget thriller set in pre Wolfenden London. 'Girl In The Headlines' is most notable for the fantastic cast: Ian Hendry, Jane Asher, Jeremy Brett... Plus Ronald Fraser (the man with cinema's tiniest mouth) and also the plummy voiced James Villiers, the cadaver on the floor of a crummy gaybar. The parade of vicious rent boys, disgraced toffs and pasty faced necklace-twirling old queers reflects the values of a less enlightened time...... For those yet to see the light with 'Tanz Der Lemminge' do persist - this album contains many sublime prog passages. Tiny parts of each composition will worm their way into your head - the slippery song titles titles are mouth watering.... Telephonecomplex; Restless Skylight-Transistor-Child; Dehypnotized Toothpaste; A Stop at the Transsylvanian Brain-Surgery; Over Heated Tiara; HG Well's Great Take Off; The Marilyn Monroe-Memorial-Church; Chewinggum Telegram; Toxicological Whispers are about half of the titles and an amazing thing is, I don't think I'll ever know which title applies to which bit of music.

Repulsion Trailer 1965 Polanski
Repulsion Trailer 1965 Polanski
Repulsion is a 1965 film directed by Roman Polanski, based on a scenario by Gérard Brach and Roman Polanski. It was Polanski's first English language film, and was filmed in Britain, as such being his second film made outside his native Poland. The cast includes Catherine Deneuve, Ian Hendry, John Fraser and Yvonne Furneaux. Polanski himself makes a cameo as a spoon player who is part of a trio of street buskers. It is of the psychological thriller genre. Carol (Catherine Deneuve) is a young Belgian manicurist who lives in Kensington, London, with her sister Helen (Yvonne Furneaux). Carol suffers from androphobia (the fear of men), and finds the interaction with, or the mention of, males repulsive. Throughout the film, innuendos derived from her neurotic, fragile mind hint that the underlying reason for this asocial behaviour lies in childhood trauma, although this is never confirmed, and a group photograph in her flat merely depicts a solemn, disturbed young girl who is uninterested in the taking of a family photo. When Helen, with whom Carol shares a strained relationship, leaves on a holiday to Italy with her married boyfriend (Ian Hendry), Carol is left to withdraw deeper into her own paranoia. What was phobic neurosis now unveils as full-fledged psychosis. She withdraws from work, refuses to leave her apartment, food rots around her and the flat falls to shambles. Furthermore Carol starts to experience spiralling hallucinations, including the walls of the flat ...
