Why You SHOULD Visit Lincoln England
We've received a lot of suggestions to visit Lincoln and we are so glad it was recommended because it is a lovely city! We're spending 2 days exploring places like Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle along with lots of other stops in the city. We had an amazing time seeing things like the Magna Carta, taking a boat tour of one of the oldest canals in the UK, and having great meals at places like Brown's Pie Shop. It's one of our favorite places we've visited and we think you need to visit Lincoln too!
We'd definitely love to see more of Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas. Do you have any must visit spots for next time? Also, what cathedrals are in your top 5 list? (it's very important research for Cara lol).
Check out these other English cities with magnificent cathedrals:

We're back in Lincolnshire this week and what a fun filled episode it is. Travelling from Lincoln to Grimsby, I'll be stopping in to look at many interesting things like an abandoned theme park, a pretend castle ruin and of course we'll be on the hunt of and abandoned road bridge.
Using a copy of the 1923 Michelin Guide, I'll be travelling the country to see what remains and what's changed since it's publication. The guide offers suggestions on thing to see and where to stay all with the goal of getting you out there and exploring in your motor vehicle.

Lincoln is a cathedral city and the administrative hub of the county which ties together rich cultural history, urbanised modern living, and a taste of rural landscapes.
With a population of 130,000, Lincoln is the largest settlement in the county. The city was found to be the 5th happiest place to live and work in the UK in 2019 and prides itself in its balance of rich culture and history – boasting a range of museums, live venues and country parks, alongside many unique pubs and bars. Lincoln offers excellent travel infrastructure with rail links across the country, including Sheffield, Leeds and London King’s Cross. On top of this, the city offers a range of innovative employment opportunities in sectors such as engineering, tourism, and IT that continue to thrive in the heart of the city. For those that seek a more suburban lifestyle, the city offers many outlying villages and hamlets less than 20 minutes from the city centre - making Lincoln a popular choice for a range of demographics to settle.

STOW: West Lindsey Parish #10 of 128
OK today on the channel we are looking at a village which has a very long history dating back way before the Norman Conquest. In the year 870 the Danes invaded and probably burnt down the church that once stood here but in its place was built one of the most magnificent structures in all of Lincolnshire.
Historically Lincolnshire was divided into three parts these being the parts of Lindsey, Parts of Kesteven and the Parts of Holland. During that time this village was known as being in Lindsey to distinguish it from another village of the same name in Kesteven. These days it's just known as it's first part but it does give its name to a load of other settlements around it including Sturton, Willingham and Normanby.

SCOTHERN: West Lindsey Parish #46 of 128
The village we’re visiting today has a good sense of community with over a third of respondents to a survey in the spring of 2015 stating that the aspects of life they most liked in it were the size and make-up of the village; the peacefulness and village feel and community spirit and friendliness. I can’t say I disagree with any of that, knowing the place as I do.
It’s somewhat of a compact village surrounded by countryside and fields used for a variety of agricultural purposes. The name means "the thorn-bush of the Scot or Scots", suggesting it has some links to the Scottish. Scothern" frequently appears in many records as "Scothorne". You may also see it as "Scottern".
The village has a long history and dates back to the Domesday book. Records from 1842 show that the village was a thr...

The village pub here is one of the most popular in the area attracting people from all over this part of Lincolnshire. Its good food and general good country atmosphere coupled with the takeaway and delivery service it does means it's onto a winner.
Overlooked by the Minster, the centre of the village is quintessentially British. The parish boundaries also cover a few other hamlets including Coates which has a little bit of history all by itself in fact and the beautiful little church of St Ediths is well worth a visit. In times gone by this places population would have been much higher but for the intervention of the Black Death in the 14th century.
Welcome to the gem of Western Lincolnshire known as STOW.

Records from 1842 show that the village was a thriving, self-contained community with a variety of trades. It may have grown since, but the village core retains something of a medieval street pattern and properties that date largely from the 18th and 19th Century.
Richard Ellison built a Public Elementary School here in 1837. It could hold 130 children. The modern day school takes the Ellison name. There is a small garden centre, and this is the only kind of retail facility the village currently has, other than the Bottle and Glass public house and Mark Harris Commercials
Let’s not forget the Welton Oil Field. There’s a huge site with plenty of nodding donkeys here. Welcome to SCOTHERN.
