Starting just after dawn, the eclipse cast its 150-kilometer (95-mile) shadow in Australia's Northern Territory, crossed the northeast tip of the country and was swooping east across the South Pacific, where no islands are in its direct path.

Tin Maung Maung, Joint Secretary of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), will deliver on behalf of the government a 10 min presentation on the area, with specific reference to the issues of opium poppy cultivation, eradication, poverty, food insecurity and the link between these and the current cease-fire agreements in Shan.  -Mr. Gary Lewis, UNODC Regional Representative Regional Centre for East Asia and the Pacific, and Mr. Jason Eligh, UNODC Country Manager will make a 10 min presentation on what the UN, as represented by UNODC and WFP 'delivering as one' on the ground, do to address these problems and support Myanmar in contributing to the peace-building process in this region.  -The Secretary-General will be invited to deliver brief remarks   -Local villagers come forward to meet the Secretary-General and Mrs. Ban and interact with them for approx. 10 min. Al Jazeera
