Haringey’s TUSC public meeting

At Haringey’s TUSC public meeting on 17th April, Oktay Sahbaz from the Daymer Kurdish and Turkish organisation explained why Daymer is supporting TUSC.

“Migrant communities are affected by the cuts to public services, education, jobs, the NHS. The ConDem coalition does not represent us. The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition does.”

Oktay said that Daymer’s activists had ensured every Kurdish and Turkish shop had TUSC leaflets and posters.

They had met with 25 Kurdish and Turkish community organisations and discussed TUSC with them, and had explained about TUSC to their 100-strong Sunday breakfast meeting.

The meeting was addressed by TUSC candidates Ian Leahair, Jenny Sutton, Nancy Taaffe and Gary McFarlane.

We also heard from Phil from the important Downhills School campaign, where parents, teachers, governors and the community are fighting a forced academy, and from RMT rep Glenroy.

TUSC candidates gave their support to the anti-academy campaign and to the RMT preparing for strike action on Tubelines next week.
