Mark Hunt (born 23 March 1974) Japanese: [Mākuhanto]; is a New Zealand kickboxer and mixed martial artist of Samoan descent, currently living in Sydney, Australia. Hunt competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is known for his raw strength, iron chin and knockout power. He is the winner of the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix.^[1] Hunt was the first to beat Wanderlei Silva after his 4 year undefeated winning streak in Pride Fighting Championship. He holds notable wins over the likes of Mirko Cro Cop, Ben Rothwell and Cheick Kongo.

Biography[link]

Early career[link]

Hunt was born in St Helens Auckland, into a small, Samoan family. He and his family then relocated to a tough suburb within South Auckland, New Zealand. He was a troubled kid and had no intentions to be a professional fighter, until one late night altercation outside a nightclub in Auckland changed the course of his life.^[1] The brawl did not last long. Sam Marsters, one of the bouncers at the door was impressed by the young man's knockout power and invited him to his Gym to take up formal training.^{[2] [3]} Later that year Hunt moved to Sydney, Australia, to train with Alex Tui. A few years later he settled in Liverpool Kickboxing Gym under Maori instructor Hape Ngaranoa.^[4]

K-1 career[link]

In the beginning of his career, Hunt was used by the promoters as a stepping stone for their up and coming fighters, taking up fights at short notice, until Tarik Solak promoted K-1 Oceania tournament in February 2000. With a record of (15-4, 3KO) Hunt entered his first K-1 tournament as a heavy underdog.

He won the K-1 Oceania title by knocking out "The Coconut Crusher" Aumitagi in quarter finals, Rony Sefo in semis and Phil Fagan in the finals. After this impressive performance he was invited to Japan for K-1 qualifications. He lost his first international fight by unanimous decision against Jérôme Le Banner.

In 2001, Hunt returned to K-1 by winning the K-1 Oceania tournament for the second consecutive year. After that he took part of K-1 World GP 2001 in Melbourne, where he beat Japanese boxer Hiromi Amada, before suffering a close unanimous decision loss to reigning champion Ernesto Hoost. However, because of his exciting fighting style Hunt was granted a wildcard spot in the repercharge tournament for the K-1 World GP 2001 Finals, when Mirko Filipović had to pull out due to injury. He was drawn against Ray Sefo, who won the bout by outpointing Hunt. After the fight however, Sefo suffered an eye injury and was not able to continue, allowing Hunt to proceed in his place. Hunt then TKO'd Adam Watt to earn his place in the K-1 World Grand Prix Finals at the Tokyo Dome.

During the matchmaking for the K-1 Finals, Hunt surprised the crowd by choosing Jérôme Le Banner, whom he had just lost in the previous year, as his quarterfinal opponent. Hunt won the rematch by knocking out Le Banner in the second round and advanced himself onto the semi-finals facing Stefan Leko. Hunt knocked down Leko two times in the first round and went on to win the fight by unanimous decision. The stage was set for the final battle against Brazilian Kyokushin karate champion Francisco Filho. In the final Hunt defeated Filho by unanimous decision to become the K-1 World Grand Prix 2001 champion.

In 2002, Hunt went to Paris to fight Le Banner again for the third time what turned out to be one of the biggest battles in K-1 history. Le Banner, fighting in front of his hometown audience, knocked down Hunt in the second round but was in turn knocked down himself a few seconds later. In the final moments of the round, Hunt was knocked down for the second time again by the powerful Frenchman. In between rounds the towel was thrown in as Hunt could not continue.

On 17 December 2002, Mark Hunt returned to defend his K-1 World Grand Prix title. In quarter finals, entering the third round and behind on all scorecards, Mark was able to connect with a right cross that knocked out Stefan Leko and advanced him to the semi-finals against his career long nemesis Jerome Le Banner. Despite knocking down the Frenchman at the end of the third round, Hunt lost the fight by decision. It would to be his last K-1 World Grand Prix appearance.

In April 2008, FEG announced Hunt's return to K-1 and nominated him as the challenger of K-1 Super Heavyweight title held by Semmy Schilt. The match was held on 13 April 2008, in Yokohama, Japan at the K-1 World GP 2008 in Yokohama. Hunt lost the fight at the end of the first round by spinning back kick to the body.

Mixed martial arts career[link]

Hunt's mixed martial arts career saw him fight in events in Japan's PRIDE Fighting Championships. His first MMA fight was a submission loss to Hidehiko Yoshida, an Olympic gold medalist in judo. In his second fight, he defeated American wrestler Dan Bobish by TKO. Hunt stepped in as a late replacement for Sakuraba, and won a split decision against an outweighed PRIDE middleweight (205 lb) champion Wanderlei Silva. Silva, renowned for his brutal punching and Muay Thai clinch game, was neutralized by the hard-hitting Samoan and knocked down several times in the fight. At the PRIDE Shockwave 2005 event, Hunt surprisingly defeated Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović via a split decision, after his earlier loss to him in K-1. At PRIDE 31: Unbreakable, Hunt defeated Japanese boxer Yosuke Nishijima in the third round with a powerful one-two punch.^[5]

Hunt's next fight was in the opening round of PRIDE's 2006 Open-Weight Grand Prix (PRIDE Total Elimination Absolute) on 5 May 2006. His opponent was Japan's Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, who he defeated by TKO in the second round. He then faced American catch-wrestler Josh Barnett at PRIDE Critical Countdown Absolute in the second round of the tournament. Hunt was immediately taken down by Barnett and ultimately lost to a kimura submission roughly two and a half minutes into the first round.

Following that fight, Hunt next lost to PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko at PRIDE Shockwave 2006. Hunt controlled Emelianenko most of the fight and even effectively countered an armbar early in the bout. Hunt's greatest chance of winning came when he was able to put Emelianenko in an americana. Unfortunately for Hunt, Emelianenko was able to fight through it and submit Hunt with a kimura.

On 21 July 2008, more than a year after his last MMA fight, Hunt returned to MMA to face Alistair Overeem at DREAM 5, and was submitted by an armlock in just over a minute into the first round.

Hunt was set to fight Jerome Le Banner at Dynamite!! 2008 but ended up fighting late replacement Melvin Manhoef after Le Banner pulled out. Despite the fact that he had a substantial weight advantage over Manhoef, he was knocked out in 18 seconds in the first round. This marked the first time he had been stopped by knockout due to punches to the head.

On 26 May 2009, Hunt fought former Dream Middleweight Champion Gegard Mousasi in the opening round of the Super Hulk Grand Prix at Dream 9. He lost by submission in the first round.

Hunt made his UFC debut on 25 September 2010 at UFC 119 against fellow UFC newcomer and undefeated prospect Sean McCorkle.^[6] Hunt trained with American Top Team for the fight. Photos that had emerged on the internet had shown that Hunt had lost a considerable amount of weight in comparison to that of his Pride days.^[7] He was defeated via Submission (straight armbar) at 1:03 of the first round.

Hunt's next fight in the UFC was against Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 127 on 27 Feb. in Sydney, Australia.^[8] Hunt defeated Tuchscherer in the second round via KO, earning Knockout of the Night. Also snapping his six fight losing streak and giving him his first victory in nearly five years.

Hunt followed this performance with a decision win over Ben Rothwell at UFC 135 on 24 September 2011.^[9]

Hunt next faced Cheick Kongo on 26 February 2012 at UFC 144.^[10] Hunt won the fight via TKO due to punches, at 2:11 of the first round.

Hunt was expected face Stefan Struve on 26 May 2012 at UFC 146.^[11] However, he pulled out of the bout due to injury ten days prior to the event.^[12]

Stephen Andrew Baldwin (born May 12, 1966) is an American actor, director, producer and author. In film, he is known for his roles in Threesome (1994), The Usual Suspects (1995), Bio-Dome (1996), Fled (1996), The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas (2000), and The Flyboys (2008); in television, as William F. Cody in the western show The Young Riders (1989–1992), and in reality shows, such as Celebrity Big Brother 2010. Outside of acting, he is known for being the youngest of the Baldwin brothers, and for publicly expressing his evangelical Christian faith.

Early life[link]

Baldwin was born in Massapequa, New York. His mother is Carol Newcomb (née Martineau, born 1930), who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990 and had a double mastectomy.^[1] His father was Alexander Rae Baldwin, Jr., (October 1927–April 1983),^[2] who died of lung cancer. Baldwin is the youngest brother of notable actors, Alec, Daniel and William, sometimes collectively known as the "Baldwin brothers". Baldwin was raised in a Catholic family of Irish, English, and French descent.^[3][4] Baldwin has two sisters, Elizabeth Keuchler (born 1955) and Jane Sasso (born 1965).^[5]

Career[link]

During his time at Berner High School, Baldwin was a successful opera singer.^[6] After high school, he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.^[7] He played small roles in shows like Kate and Allie and Family Ties, before landing his first feature film role as an adult, in the 1988 film The Beast. That role led to other parts, in the 1989 films Last Exit to Brooklyn and Born on the Fourth of July, as well as the television series The Young Riders. In 1994, he appeared in Threesome, and in 1995 he landed a breakthrough role in The Usual Suspects. Baldwin's next role was in Bio-Dome (1996). In 2000, he played Barney Rubble in The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.

In 2002, Baldwin participated in Celebrity Mole Hawaii, the first celebrity edition of The Mole. ABC broadcast the program in early 2003. Later that year he returned for Celebrity Mole Yucatán, which ABC aired in early 2004.

In August 2007, Baldwin was back on television when CMT cast him in Ty Murray's Celebrity Bull Riding Challenge, one of nine celebrities cast.^[8] In the first episode, Baldwin was injured in a bad fall from a wooden pontoon, breaking his shoulder blade and cracking a rib. Under doctor's orders, he left the show in the second episode.

From January to March 2008, Baldwin appeared on Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice on NBC. Baldwin finished fifth out of the 14 celebrity contestants. He and Trace Adkins became friends while competing on the show. In October 2008, Baldwin appeared in the Adkins' music video, "Muddy Water".

On October 18, 2008, Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin joked with lifelong Democrat Alec Baldwin during a Saturday Night Live skit that Stephen is her "favorite Baldwin brother" because Stephen himself is a Republican.^[9][10]

He was a contestant on the 2009 NBC reality show, I'm a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here!.^[11] Baldwin quit the show mid-season. Lou Diamond Phillips won first place on the show. On the second episode, Baldwin baptised The Hills actor Spencer Pratt.

Baldwin resides in the village of Nyack, New York, with his wife, the Brazilian graphic designer Kennya Baldwin (née Deodato), whom he met in 1987 and married in 1990. The couple has two children, Alaia (born 1993) and Hailey Rhode (born 1996).^{[12][unreliable source?]} His father-in-law is the Grammy Award winning Brazilian musician Eumir Deodato.

In 2006, Baldwin launched a campaign to prevent an adult bookstore from opening in Nyack.^[13]

Baldwin has a tattoo on his left shoulder of the initials "HM" for Hannah Montana. He got the tattoo after making a pact with Miley Cyrus that he would be allowed to cameo on the show if he had the initials tattooed on him. He revealed the tattoo to Cyrus at a book signing in Nashville, on November 10, 2008.^[14] To date he has never appeared on the show. He has since said that he regrets getting the tattoo.^[15]

Stephen and his wife, Kennya, defaulted on paying $824,488.36 on their mortgage. Baldwin's home in Upper Grandview, (Rockland County) New York was being auctioned at the County Court House steps on June 12, 2009 after Bankers Trust Co. foreclosed on the home. Gannett News also reported that: "Additionally, county filings show the Baldwins owe National City Bank money for a separate mortgage and may owe tens of thousands in unpaid state and federal taxes on the property."^[16]

He filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition in New York, on July 21, 2009, according to a court document that says he is millions in debt. He claimed he owes more than $2.3 million and owns a New York property valued at only $1.1 million. His wife, Kennya Baldwin, also is named in the document.^[17][18]

In December 2010, Baldwin filed a $3.8 million lawsuit against actor Kevin Costner over oil-separating technology that was used to help solve the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.^[19]

In September 2006, Baldwin released his book titled The Unusual Suspect, which details highlights from his personal life, career, days of drug abuse, and ultimately, his turn to becoming a born-again Christian after the 9/11 attacks.^[20] In the same year, Baldwin, Mario D'Ortenzio and Bobby Brewer founded Breakthrough Ministry, which was designed to utilize extreme sports as a ministry via arena tours, called AsSalt Tours. The tours featured extreme sports celebrities, including Christian Hosoi. In 2007, Daniel Southern joined Baldwin as president of his ministry.^[21] In late 2008, Baldwin formed a for-profit organization called Antioch Ministry, which exists "to facilitate the gifts and calling of Stephen Baldwin".^[22] In 2009, Baldwin and Southern launched a third ministry called Now More Than Ever, designed to reach enlisted men and women in the military around the world.

In 2008, Baldwin teamed up with conservative talk-radio host Kevin McCullough to put together a Saturday radio show called Baldwin/McCullough Radio. As of April 18, 2009, the show aired on 213 stations and in more than 400 cities across the US, and worldwide on Sirius 161 and XM 227.^[23] Baldwin appears weekly on the show from the broadcast studios in New York City, as well as from various locations around the US when he is traveling for other business purposes.

In 2007, Baldwin endorsed Sam Brownback for President.^[24] After Brownback left the race, Baldwin switched his support to Mike Huckabee.^[25] Baldwin was a strong supporter of the McCain–Palin presidential ticket after Huckabee dropped out of the 2008 presidential race. That same year, Baldwin threatened to move to Canada if Barack Obama was elected, and challenged the candidate to box for charity.^[26] In June 2011, Baldwin floated the possibility of entering New York City's 2013 mayoral race as an opponent of his brother Alec Baldwin, who previously suggested that he may run himself.^[27]

Baldwin was the first person to enter the Celebrity Big Brother House on January 3, 2010. The theme for this series was "Hell", with a devil head on the front door, he frequently taunted the head by saying "you're a loser". During his stay in the house he frequently read passages from the Bible to his fellow housemates.^[28][29] He also tried to convert eventual winner Alex Reid. He failed to win many fans and was evicted on January 22, 2010, becoming the fourth housemate to be evicted. In a three-way vote—against Ivana Trump and Sisqó—he received 50% of the public vote.^[30] After his eviction, the website restorestephenbaldwin.org, unsolicited by him, began soliciting cash donations to improve Baldwin's career.^[31]

Mark Anthony Patrick Owen (born 27 January 1972), is an English singer-songwriter. He is a member of pop band Take That. The band were hugely successful during the 1990s and have enjoyed even more success since their reunion in 2005. As a solo artist, Mark Owen had sold over 400,000 records worldwide and 80 million with Take That.

Take That (1990–1996, 2005–present)[link]

Take That formed in 1990 and during his time with the group, Owen sang lead vocals on "Babe", which was released in December 1993 from the Everything Changes album. It reached number one in the UK, but was knocked off the top spot at Christmas by Mr Blobby. He also sang lead vocals on "The Day After Tomorrow" from the Nobody Else album, and that concludes Owen's vocal contributions to the band the first time around. Despite this, Owen was the most popular member of the group, on account of his boyish good looks and sweet demeanour,^[1] regularly earning awards such as Smash Hit's "Most Fanciable Male in the World" and "Best Haircut".^[2]

Solo career[link]

After Take That split, Owen became the second of the band's ex-members to release a solo record. He reached number three in the UK Singles Chart with his debut single, "Child".^[3] His second single, "Clementine", also went to number three.^[3] In 1997 his album Green Man was released, charting at a number 33. After another single, "I Am What I Am", charted at number 29, Owen was dropped by BMG Records in late 1997.

Owen won the second series of Celebrity Big Brother in November 2002 with 77% of the public vote against television presenter Les Dennis, he broke down in tears because he did not think that he had any fans left since he left Take That. After being invited to perform on stage with Robbie Williams at Knebworth, he returned to the spotlight and signed a deal with Island/Universal Records. In August 2003, Owen returned to the charts with the Top 5 hit, "Four Minute Warning", which remained in the Top 40 for eight weeks. His second album, In Your Own Time, was released in November 2003, entering the charts at number 59. After a second single, "Alone Without You", charted at number 26, Owen was dropped by Island/Universal Records.

In April 2004 he established his own record company, Sedna Records. One report around 2004 even alleged that Owen was looking for a day job, but he simply said "Doing it properly isn't cheap. These are my indulgences. I don't have a Ferrari, I have two albums." He released his third solo album, How the Mighty Fall in 2005, which was recorded at Sunset Studios, Los Angeles in 2004. In February 2006 he released "Hail Mary" as a single from the album.

In March 2012 according to a report by The Sun Mark was planning to relaunch his solo career. A source said: "Mark has already made serious headway. He has put together new material in the studio with top writers and is planning more sessions over the next few months. All the lads are behind him. Success in his own right and his own writing material have always been a massive motivation, so he's a happy man."^[4][5]

Owen lives in Wandsworth, London.^[6] In 2006, he became engaged to actress Emma Ferguson, with whom he had been in a relationship since 2004. On 8 November 2009, the pair married in Cawdor Church, Scotland. ^[7] They have a son, Elwood Jack, born in 2006 and a daughter, Willow Rose, born in 2008. On 2 April 2012 it was announced that they are expecting their third child due in early summer. ^[8] In March 2010 Owen said he had an affair from late 2004 until September 2009.^{[9] [10]}Six months later, he checked into a private clinic for rehabilitation related to his drinking.^[11]
