Willow Creek Pictures: Edinburgh Armed Forces Day 2011 - Live Event Video
www.willowcreekpictures.com The Armed Forces Day 2011 event took centre stage in Scotland's Capital City of Edinburgh to celebrate the work and commitment of the British Armed Forces and the Army in a Veterans Day. When is Veterans Day? What is Veterans Day? On Saturday 25th June, 2011 the Royal British Legion Scotland Motorbikes paraded down the Royal Mile High Street and through Holyrood Park past the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace, celebrating the 90th anniversary of the UK Royal British Legion Scotland. This included 90 Harley Motorbikes leading the parade ahead of the Armed Forces. A Search and Rescue Helicopter was due to fly down the High Street but I never witnessed that. According to STV News, an incident on Saturday involving a mobile phone being thrown out of a commercial jet caused delays at Edinburgh Airport including preventing some of the flying particpants from landing at Edinburgh and thus not being able to take part in some of the days aerial armed services events. At midday bang on schedule unlike the parade of military forces which was forty minutes delayed for some unexplained reason, the Red Arrows carried out a flypast over the Parliament from the East Coast across the top of Edinburgh Castle towards Leith. The flypast was sponsered by Selex Galileo. Fifteen minutes later, the crowds were treated to an exciting flypast by the Battle of Britian Memorial Flight which included a Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane well known from the ...

Armed Forces Day 2011 27.06.11
Parades and street parties were held up and down the country on Saturday, to celebrate the third annual UK Armed Forces Day. All over Britain celebrations were held in honour of the nation's servicemen and women, as people showed their support and gratitude for the forces. It is believed that around 100000 descended upon Edinburgh, which was this year's official host city, to enjoy a packed schedule of activities. Events got under way as 90 motorcyclists, from the Royal British Legion Scotland Riders Branch, drove down the Royal Mile to celebrate the Legion's 90th anniversary. A moment of silence was held at the Falklands Memorial Garden in Princes Street Gardens, as members of the South Atlantic Medal Association laid a wreath, followed by a reading of the Falklands Prayer. The highlight of the day came as 2500 military personnel made their way down the Royal Mile from Edinburgh Castle's Esplanade to Holyrood Park. Outside the Scottish Parliament building the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall stood to watch the parade. They were joined by Prime Minister David Cameron, Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore and Defence Secretary Dr Liam Fox. The prince stood on a podium and saluted every member of the Armed Forces to pass him. Around 500 servicemen and women marched first, followed by 2000 veterans and cadets. Camilla wore a cream jacket by Anna Valentine and a black and cream hat by Philip Treacy. She also wore a 9th ...

2012 Armed Forces Day
President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days. The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense. Armed Forces Day is observed on the third Saturday of May.

Armed Forces Day 2012
This video is to honor all of our heroes in uniform and their families. They sacrifice so much so that we may enjoy our freedoms. "This is the day on which we have the welcome opportunity to pay special tribute to the men and women of the Armed Forces ... to all the individuals who are in the service of their country all over the world. Armed Forces Day won't be a matter of parades and receptions for a good many of them. They will all be in line of duty and some of them may give their lives in that duty." -New York Times, May 14, 1952 Not political, so please use this space to provide your thanks to our heroes for their service to our country. Salute!
