"What does Naismith mean to you?"-Jody Conradt
The series continues with 2008 Naismith Outstanding Contributor to Women's Basketball and former Texas women's head coach, Jody Conradt.
This year marks the 125th anniversary of the invention of the game of basketball. The first basketball game took place at the YMCA in Springfield, MA, on December 21, 1891, when Dr. James Naismith attached peach baskets to a gym balcony and gave his students a soccer-style ball as a way to keep them active during the cold winter months. Although the game has changed over the years, the basic rules from 125 years ago remain the same.
To celebrate Dr. Naismith and his legacy, Naismith Trophy award winners have weighed in on what the man and the game mean to them. Visit our social media channels every week to hear these hoops legends talk about the game...
