An enclave is any portion of a state that is entirely surrounded by the territory of a single other state. An exclave is a portion of a state geographically separated from the main part by surrounding territory. Many exclaves are also enclaves. Enclave is sometimes used improperly to denote a territory that is only partly surrounded by another state. Examples of enclaved countries include San Marino and Lesotho. Examples of exclaves include Nakhchivan and Campione d'Italia. Campione d'Italia is also an enclave.
A pene‑enclave is any portion of a state that has land borders with a single other state but is not completely surrounded by it or that state's territorial waters. A pene‑exclave is a portion of a state that is geographically separated from the main part by land borders with alien territory but is not completely surrounded by it or alien territorial waters. Examples of pene-enclaved countries include Portugal and Canada. Examples of pene-exclaves include French Guiana, the Kaliningrad Oblast, and Alaska.

Northern Ireland (Irish: Tuaisceart Éireann [ˈt̪ˠuəʃcəɾˠt̪ˠ ˈeːɾʲən̪ˠ]; Ulster Scots: Norlin Airlann) is a constituent unit of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the northeast of the island of Ireland. It is variously described as a country, province, region, or "part" of the United Kingdom, amongst other terms. Northern Ireland shares a border to the south and west with the Republic of Ireland. In 2011, its population was 1,810,863, constituting about 30% of the island's total population and about 3% of the UK's population. Established by the Northern Ireland Act 1998 as part of the Good Friday Agreement, the Northern Ireland Assembly holds responsibility for a range of devolved policy matters, while other areas are reserved for the British government. Northern Ireland co-operates with the Republic of Ireland in some areas, and the Agreement granted the Republic the ability to "put forward views and proposals" with "determined efforts to resolve disagreements between the two governments".
World is a common name for the whole of human civilization, specifically human experience, history, or the human condition in general, worldwide, i.e. anywhere on Earth or pertaining to anywhere on Earth.
In a philosophical context it may refer to:
In a theological context, world usually refers to the material or the profane sphere, as opposed to the celestial, spiritual, transcendent or sacred. The "end of the world" refers to scenarios of the final end of human history, often in religious contexts.
World history is commonly understood as spanning the major geopolitical developments of about five millennia, from the first civilizations to the present.
World population is the sum of all human populations at any time; similarly, world economy is the sum of the economies of all societies (all countries), especially in the context of globalization. Terms like world championship, gross world product, world flags etc. also imply the sum or combination of all current-day sovereign states.
In this video I look at some of the most complex international border. Of course, there are more complex borders in the world, but this video looks at some of my favourites. I look at the 3 enclaves countries of the world: Vatican City, San Marino and Lesotho. As well as Campione d'Italia, an Italian exclave which is an enclave of Switzerland. I then take things up a notch and look at enclaves within enclaves. The town of Baarle which is in the Netherlands and Belgium is an incredibly complicated border. But not quite as much as the Cooch Behar region of India and Bangladesh. This is followed by a look at the odd situation of Bir Tawil, the only unclaimed land on Earth outside of Antarctica (which is itself a place for complex borders!) I finish off the video by looking at the islan...

Ever wondered why a part of Russia is detached from the rest? There are a lot of weird borders in the world, and often the reason is that a country wanted access to the sea and fought hard for it. They ignore any reasonable boundary between countries in exchange for a bizarre panhandle, or sometimes even cutting off parts of other countries to create a strange border situation called enclaves, which is when a part of a country is only reachable by land through other countries. This video goes over 3 bizarre border situations including why Russia has an the kaliningrad exclave, which is a result of a chain of events in world war 1 and world war 2 in which germany had a strange border where east prussia was an exclave cut off by the danzig corridor, which actually led to world war 2. Yet more complex international borders in this sequel. In this video I look at even more enclaves and exclaves: the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Then I move onto the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan border. Then I look at the exclaves of Germany within Belgium, the disputed border between India, Pakistan, and China. Croatia has complex border with 2 of its neighbours - Serbia and Slovenia. I finish by looking at the minor border irregularity between Sweden and Finland. Ever wonder why Alaska isn't part of Canada? Or why Northern Ireland isn't part of Ireland? Or why Nakhichevan is seperated from the rest of Azerbaijan? Here's why twitter.com/matthewbr5231 Script: Hey guys, Matthew here And you’re watching Gallium productions Alaska, USA Alaska is bordered by the Yukon Territory of Canada to the east, the Canadian province British Columbia to the south, and has incredibly close maritime boundaries with Russia in the west. Despite this, it’s part of the United states. Here’s why In 1725, Russian Czar Peter the Great dispatched Danish explorer Vitus Bering to explore the Alaskan coast. In the 1850’s, the British and French captured the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, in Kamchatka, a Russian peninsula on the East coast of Asia The Russians figur...

Photographs, Gianfranco Tripodo Video editor, Livia Regali --- Frontera Sur is a cross media documentary project using photos, video and audio interviews by photographer Gianfranco Tripodo, to investigate the theme of migration in Ceuta and Melilla, arguably the southernmost border of Europe. An image from this work has been awarded with the 3rd prize singles, General News at World Press Photo 2014 Ceuta and Melilla are two Spanish exclaves located on the coast of North Africa, bordering on Morocco. The cities are both surrounded by a border fence, consists of parallel 6 meters (10-foot) fence line, highly guarded by Spanish Guardia Civil and Moroccan Army. Sub-Saharan migrants trapped on the Moroccan mountains surrounding Ceuta and Melilla, spent several months waiting for the occasion ...
In the year 2021, America went to war with China… and lost. A brief nuclear exchange triggered an economic collapse that brought the nation to its knees in surrender. Now, the Manchurian Empire occupies large Sectors of North America — including the richest, Chinese-owned cities, known as the Exclaves. Outside the fortified Exclave walls, American civilization still struggles on, but disorder is rife as the world crumbles a little more each day. Dense urban slums teem with pollution, addiction and hardship. Food is scarce, but drugs are aplenty. Rent is high, but life is cheap. Nuked: The Series is a darkly comedic episodic story that fuses the dystopian world of Children of Men with the sly humour and irony of the films of Guy Ritchie. Nuked is produced by New Image Entertainment, film...
Morocco (/məˈrɒkoʊ/ ( listen); Arabic: المغرب, al-Maġrib; Berber: Amerruk / Murakuc), officially the Kingdom of Morocco[4] (المملكة المغربية, al-Mamlakah al-Maġribiyya), is a country located in North Africa. It has a population of nearly 33 million and an area of 710,850 km², including the disputed Western Sahara which is mainly under Moroccan administration. Morocco has a coast on the Atlantic Ocean that reaches past the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea. Russia is the largest country in the world. To help run its vast lands it requires a complicated set of Federal Subjects that include Oblasts, Krais, Republics, Federal Cities, Autonomous Okrugs, and an Autonomous Oblast. These Federal Subjects of Russia are not all the same, and since Russia is an asymmetric federation, some of the subjects have more powers than others. Oblasts, Krais, and Federal Cities are average Federal subjects, having the right to their own legislatures, while Republics, Autonomous Okrugs, and the Autonomous Oblast are meant to provide additional rights to Russia’s minorities. Republics get their own constitutions and official language status, while the Autonomous Okrugs and Oblast get some language rights. Additionally Autonomous Okrugs can, but not always, b...
