Business intelligence (BI) is often described as "the set of techniques and tools for the transformation of raw data into meaningful and useful information for business analysis purposes". The term "data surfacing" is also more often associated with BI functionality. BI technologies are capable of handling large amounts of unstructured data to help identify, develop and otherwise create new strategic business opportunities. The goal of BI is to allow for the easy interpretation of these large volumes of data. Identifying new opportunities and implementing an effective strategy based on insights can provide businesses with a competitive market advantage and long-term stability.
BI technologies provide historical, current and predictive views of business operations. Common functions of business intelligence technologies are reporting, online analytical processing, analytics, data mining, process mining, complex event processing, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics.

Dr. Peter Watts draws attention to the number of songs and hymns that can be found in the books of the Hebrew Bible. The most famous collection of these is the Book of Psalms, but there are many more besides. Indeed, there are so many of these songs, and we know they were used in worship in the Temple, that Watts described ancient Israel as a 'singing culture.' All the documents of Christianity - such as those that are found in the collection known as 'the New Testament' - were written in the common Koine Greek language of the Mediterranean world. In this video, Dr Peter Watts argues that learning to read that language, as part of a study of theology or of the Bible, is an important way not only to get a deeper appreciation of those texts but of gaining access to the mental worlds of the writers of those early texts which are still valued by Christians today. There are as many definitions of theology as there are theologians. Here Peter Watts gives his take on the question arguing that it is a range of investigations concerning 'matters of ultimate concern' - and that these questions are asked in some way by every human being at some times in their lives. Prepare for a different kind of singularity in Echopraxia, the follow-up to Hugo-Winning author Peter Watts' Blindsight. It's the eve of the twenty-second century: a world where the dearly departed send postcards back from Heaven and evangelicals make scientific breakthroughs by speaking in tongues; where genetically engineered vampires solve problems intractable to baseline humans and soldiers come with zombie switches that shut off self-awareness during combat. And it's all under surveillance by an alien presence that refuses to show itself. Daniel Bruks is a living fossil: a field biologist in a world where biology has turned computational, a cat's-paw used by terrorists to kill thousands. Taking refuge in the Oregon desert, he's turned his back on a humanity that shatters into stra...

A reworking of a talk given several times- at Machines that Matter [eFlux 2015] and for the DUST seminars [Texas 2017]. This talk highlights the importance of Peter Watts' [hard scifi writer, biologist] work for my thinking about the questions of a cosmopolitics. Some of these investigations go back to 2005 or so, when I was teaching architecture/media at SCIArc, and founded the MediaSCAPES program there. One of my key foci in those years was post-Empire, and many seminars and design studios engaged this set of problems, which led directly to an engagement with the Post Planetary, and cosmopolitics.
In this (lengthy) video, I talk about the first lines or paragraphs of books that hooked me and made me more excited for the stories about to follow. Peter Watts shares his story about how he grew up as an atheist but became a Christian after encountering God
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in "Captain America: Civil War," begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in "Spider-Man: Homecoming." Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened. Join stars Tom Holland, Laura Harrier, Jacob Batalon and director Jon Watts as they discuss the film.
Naomi Ellen Watts (born 28 September 1968) is an English actress and film producer.[1] She made her screen debut in the Australian drama film For Love Alone (1986) and then appeared in the Australian television series Hey Dad..! (1990), Brides of Christ (1991) and Home and Away (1991) and alongside Nicole Kidman and Thandie Newton in the coming-of-age comedy-drama film Flirting (1991). After moving to America, Watts appeared in films, including Tank Girl (1995), Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996) and Dangerous Beauty (1998) and had the lead role in the television series Sleepwalkers (1997–1998). After years as a struggling actress, Watts came to attention in David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive (2001). The following year she enjoyed box-office success with her ...
Well my soul checked out missing as I sat listening
To the hours and minutes tickin' away
Yeah just sittin' around waitin' for my life to begin
While it was all just slippin' away
I'm tired of waitin' for tomorrow to come
Or that train to come roarin' 'round the bend
I got a new suit of clothes a pretty red rose
And a woman I can call my friend
These are better days baby
Yeah there's better days shining through
These are better days baby
Better days with a girl like you
Well I took a piss at fortune's sweet kiss
It's like eatin' caviar and dirt
It's sad funny ending to find yourself pretending
A rich man in a poor man's shirt
Now my ass was draggin' when from a passin' gypsy wagon
Your heart like a diamond shone
Tonight I'm layin' in your arms carvin' lucky charms
Out of these hard luck bones
These are better days baby
These are better days it's true
These are better days
There's better days shining through
Now a life of leisure and a pirate's treasure
Don't make much for tragedy
But it's a sad man my friend who's livin' in his own skin
And can't stand the company
Every fool's got a reason for feelin' sorry for himself
And turning his heart to stone
Tonight this fool's halfway to heaven and just a mile outta hell
And I feel like I'm comin' home
These are better days baby
There's better days shining through
These are better days
Better days with a girl like you
These are better days baby
These are better days it's true
These are better days
