Foreign Kids Enjoy Camping in North Korea, Wonsan City
Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- Schoolchildren from various countries began their camping at the Songdowon International Children's Camp, located on the east coast of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
They spend pleasant times at the seaside with swimming, boating, sports and amusement games, etc, getting together.
A camper from China told KCNA:
"It is a big fortune for me to come here. I've got to know a lot of things about the culture and history of Korea.
I am thankful to respected Marshal Kim Jong Un for the loving care given to us campers."
A camper from Mongolia said:
"Days here in the camp are so enjoyable. This is the first time for me to see the sea.
It is very funny to play with campers from different countries. I want to come here again in the future."
Hong Jin Hyok, a 13-year-old student at Kumsong Secondary School No.1, said:
"Now I feel refreshed after having a sea bathing
During the camping, I will further train my body and deepen my knowledge to be an able man for the country." -0-

Children in hospital, school in Wonsan, North Korea
Most of the People's Republic of Korea is mountainous. Only a fifth of the land in the People's Republic can be used to grow food. With few international trading partners from which to buy the rest, chronic malnutrition is the biggest threat to people here.
Malnutrition causes the most harm to the most vulnerable. If an infant under two is malnourished there is a good chance he or she will never grow to reach full potential. An assessment by WFP and the government showed almost 19 percent of under-twos were acutely malnourished. Fifteen percent is already considered an emergency.
In this school in the eastern city of Wonsan many children are small for their age. Kim Gwang Song is 13 years old, but he looks about eight. .
WFP says the effect of hunger on a community's productivity creates a vicious cycle, so the agency is putting children first.

Children at school, meals, biscuits in Wonsan, North Korea
The Munchon Biscuit Factory produces biscuits fortified with vitamins and minerals essential for the mental and physical growth of a child. WFP provides all the raw materials - wheat flour, minerals, vitamins, oil, sugar, salt and soda -- in addition to use of a truck and a mill. The government provides workers, technicians and other running costs.
At kindergartens, primary schools, children centres and boarding schools, children receive four biscuits per school day.

----------------------------
Wonsan Mop Up.
A night mission from my single player campaign. Before US and South Korean forces move in to take Wonsan at dawn tomorrow, we've been tasked to go in and clean up what we can of the stragglers, mainly the triple-A threats as well as some artillery that continue to hamper friendly forces approaching from the south and west. All high risk SAMs in the area have been neutralized and enemy air activity has decreased sufficiently to make this a low risk mission.
----------------------------
I haven't flown for a couple of months so I dawdle about on the ramp a bit going over and over things in my head. One thing I didn't account for was my AI wingman, as is often the case he didn't do as he was told and he was sent to bed upon RTB without any tea. As we begin the attack he decides he's low on fuel, launches only 2 of his 6 Mavericks then buggers off homeward, don't get me started about his 4 CBU-87's.
Anyhoo, I thought I'd make an example of him by completing my mission solo, and returning to base with only 200lbs and a few fumes in the juicebox. Which brings me onto my next mistake, due to said fuel shortage worrying me somewhat (don't tell my wingman), I took a couple of risky potshots at 2 bombers that were running home but they lit the burners and out ran them. And to prove those up north have similar dopey AI in their midst, those bombers then turned nose hot and my second volley hit it's marks for damage only, d'oh. Still they'll be pulling shrapnel out them birds for weeks, oh wait, no they won't cos it's just a game...
Suggested viewing in a darkened room and buffered in so you can fast forward through the slow parts, it is after all ramp start to shutdown. Probably won't post a full mission like this again as there are some boring bits and it takes an age to upload, but for those that don't have BMS and are curious about it, this is what you can expect in an average, low difficulty campaign mission, but there's so much more to it than this.

Marchers in Wonsan, North Korea
Photography was restricted in Wonsan more than any other place I visited in North Korea, so I feel fortunate to get these few seconds of video of people practicing the goose step for the upcoming Liberation Day parade (Liberation Day = August 15, 2010, to celebrate Korea's independence from Japanese occupation after WWII).
