Leadenhall Market is a covered market in London, located on Gracechurch Street but with vehicular access also available via Whittington Avenue to the north and Lime Street to the south and east, and additional pedestrian access via a number of narrow passageways.
It is one of the oldest markets in London, dating from the 14th century, and is located in the historic centre of the City of London financial district.
The market dates from the 14th century. It is typically open weekdays from 10 am until 6 pm, and primarily sells fresh food; among the vendors there are cheesemongers, butchers and florists. Originally a meat, game and poultry market, it stands on what was the centre of Roman London. A number of commercial retailers are also located in the market, including clothes shops and a pen shop.
The ornate roof structure, painted green, maroon and cream, and cobbled floors of the current structure, designed in 1881 by Sir Horace Jones (who was also the architect of Billingsgate and Smithfield Markets), make Leadenhall Market a tourist attraction.
122 Leadenhall Street is an address on Leadenhall Street in London where the 225 m (737 ft) tall Leadenhall Building is located. The commercial skyscraper, opened in July 2014, was designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and is informally known as "The Cheesegrater" because of its distinctive wedge shape. It is one of a number of new tall buildings recently completed or currently under construction in the City of London financial area, including 20 Fenchurch Street, 22 Bishopsgate, and The Scalpel.
The site is opposite the Lloyd's building, also designed by Rogers, which is the home of the insurance market Lloyd's of London. Until 2007 the Leadenhall site was occupied by the P&O Tower (Peninsular and Oriental), a building owned by the developer British Land and designed by Gollins Melvin Ward Partnership that was completed in 1968 as a brother to the still existing Commercial Union tower, now called St. Helen's. That building was demolished in preparation for redevelopment of the site. The project, initially delayed due to the financial crisis, was revived in 2010 and Oxford Properties co-developed the property in partnership with British Land.
London i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England. Since at least the 19th century, the term London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms Greater London, a region of England governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. The conurbation also covers two English counties: the small district of the City of London and the county of Greater London. The latter constitutes the vast majority of London, though historically it was split between Middlesex (a now abolished county), Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire.

The Leadenhall Building 4K “The Leadenhall Building” by Photographer Paul Raftery and Film Maker Dan Lowe, which follows on from the successful “Making The Leadenhall” released in 2013, completes the story of the construction of the building by taking the viewer inside to discover the interiors and panoramic views. Shot over two years from different vantage points and through varying seasons and times of day, the timelapse film uses more than 320,000 images shot on DSLR cameras with a range of lenses (including tilt and shift, telephoto and extreme wide angle) to beautifully showcase the building and its impact on the London skyline. A midweek visit to bustling Leadenhall Market in The City of London. June 2016
The City of London is one of the oldest parts of the capitol, as it is located where London was first founded almost 2000 years ago. The City of London roughly constitutes the same area that was mostly unaltered until the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th Century. Known as the "Square Mile", the City nowadays is roughly bounded by the River Thames to the south, Chancery Lane to the west, Charterhouse Street to the north, and the Tower of London to the east. Although the old City's gates are long gone, you can still see their location in the street names. Join us on this video tour as we explore the Tower of London, Leadenhall Market, the City's financial district, St. Paul's Cathedral and more! The Tower of London To the east of the City you'll find the Tower of London b...

In this short video we visit Leadenhall Market in the City of London, EC3V 1LT. Close to the Lloyds of London Insurance building at Gracechurch Street the market is a hidden gem. It may seem familiar even if you have never heard of it before, as it was used in backdrop in a Harry Potter movie. It was used to represent the area of London near The Leaky Cauldron and Diagon Alley in the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The market is near the bank of England which houses England’s gold reserve. The bank area is an interesting location to visit if you are near Leadenhall Market. Lyrics by Pandi Laco
Please don't be sad
It's like you've always dreamed
I wear the white veil
Oh, mother bless me pleaaaaase don't you cry
Tomorrow I go
The last night falling
Oh, do you recall
How I would imagine
a white wedding dress
and now finally my time
time is here
I know that I will miss
Your sweet words singing
Maybe I'll cry
Still I hope you will sing
Sing for me
Di di da di di da
Lift the drum beat, raise your voice
Di di da di di da
May the whole world shake as one
Let the song begin
Celebrate the dance within
Tomorrow I go
I will walk out this door
With the first star of night
It's time to say goodbye
Give me now
Your golden tear
Your sweet words singing
Maybe I'll cry
Still I hope you will sing - Sing for me
