The Chiyoda Line - operated by Tokyo Metro - is a subway line which extends from Yoyogi-Uehara in Shibuya (south west of central Tokyo) to Kita-Ayase in Adachi (north of central Tokyo). Passengers for Kita-Ayase have to change at Ayase for the 2.1 kilometer long branch line. There are no through services, because the single platform in Kita-Ayase is only designed for 3 car trains. On the main section all trains have 10 cars. Trains have through running onto other railway lines on both ends. More than half of these are trains to the northeast beyond Ayase onto the JR Jōban Line to Toride. The rest run to the southwest beyond Yoyogi-Uehara onto the Odakyū Odawara Line to Hon-Atsugi and to Karakida on the Odakyū Tama Line. Since 2008 there are also some Odakyu Romancecar train services (Hakone-Yumoto - Kita Senju) that are using the Chiyoda Line and featuring reserved seats. (It only stops at Omotesando, Kasumigaseki, Otemachi and Kita-Senju. It is the second most crowded subway line in Tokyo. Tokyo Metro Ginza Line 東京地下鉄銀座線 「HD 2013」
First of all: Thank you very much for 555 subscribers! :) The Ginza Line is the oldest subway line in Tokyo and in Asia - known as "the first underground railway in the Orient". It extends from Shibuya to Asakusa in Taitō and connects many major residential, commercial, and business districts like Omotesandō, Ginza or Ueno. The section between Asakusa and Ueno was completed on December 30, 1927 and opened by Tokyo Underground Railway (Tōkyō Chika Tetsudō / 東京地下鉄道). Until 1934 the line was extended to Shimbashi. Another subway company - the Tōkyō Rapid Railway (Tōkyō Kōsoku Tetsudō / 東京高速鉄道) - opened the section from Shibuya to Toranomon in 1938. Both subway lines were connected in 1939 at Shimbashi. Both companies merged as the Teito Rapid Transit Authority (TRTA). After the economic boom in the 70s and 80s the Ginza Line got overcrowded. Even after the opening of the Hanzomon Line in 1978-1989 - which is designed as a parallel reliever line - the Ginza Line is still very crowded. Furthermore the trains are limited to 6 cars due to short platforms. As beeing the first metro line of Tokyo, the Ginza Line is located very close to the street level. However the line emerges to the surface only at his western terminus in Shibuya (Ueno Inspection Division is located on surface too, but this section isn't used for passenger traffic). The currently used trains are the 01 series (since 1983, to be retired until 2015) and the new 1000 series (since April 2012). The exterior design of the 1000 series is inspired by the original 1000 series trains from 1927. Experimental: Time-lapse mirrors
I saw a video a while ago where a fellow had put together a mirrored time-lapse of the Tokyo metro system. I was in Tokyo for a job many months later and decided to shoot something similar but forgot about the footage until I watched Tron this week...
Tron is as much of a visual feast at you're ever likely to enjoy and as I still feel totally inspired I've lopped together a few time-lapse clips and set it to the title track of the film.
Clips include: Tokyo Subway system in the morning and at night, the M1 motorway and My Merapi in Indonesia.

The Namboku Line - the "North-South Line" - is a subway line operated by Tokyo Metro. It extends from Meguro in Shinagawa to Akabane-Iwabuchi in Kita. There are through service trains to the Saitama Rapid Railway Line from Akabane-Iwabuchi to Urawa-Misono and to the Tokyu Meguro Line from Meguro to Hiyoshi. As a result of this interconnection there are trains of three different railway companies in use. The entire line features highly advanced technology such as platform-screen doors (PSD) and automatic train operation (ATO). Between Meguro and Shirokane-Takanawa the Namboku Line shares the tracks with the Toei Mita Line, another subway line with another fare system operated by Toei. The Hanzōmon Line is a subway line operated by Tokyo Metro. It extends from Shibuya to Oshiage in Sumida and features direct through service at both terminus to other railway companies. At Shibuya almost all trains continue traveling on the Tōkyū Den-en-toshi Line to Chūō-Rinkan, while at Oshiage some train services are using the Tobu Skytree Line to Tōbu-Dōbutsu-Kōen and further to Minami-Kurihashi on the Tōbu Nikkō Line or Kuki on the Tobu Isesaki Line. It is the second shortest subway line in Tokyo, however due to through operations trains can go directly the 98.5 km distance between Chūō-Rinkan to Minami Kurihashi - the longest train service on a Japanese subway line. The Hanzōmon Line is also designed to have several transfer stations to the Ginza Line to relieve its limited capacity problem. Between Shibuya and Aoyama-Itchōme both lines run parallel. The line is named after the west gate of the Imperial Palace (Hanzōmon), which in turn is named after 16th century samurai Hattori Hanzō, who was important to the founding of the shogunate which built the palace. The rolling stock is formed of trainsets of 3 different railway operators: Tokyo Metro: 8000 series, 08 series Tokyu: 2000 series, 5000 series, 8500 series, 8590 series Tobu: 30000 series, 50050 series Stations: 14 Daily ridership: 858,836 Opening: 1978 Owner: Tokyo Metro Depot: Saginuma (on the Tōkyū Den-en-toshi Line) Line length: 16.8 km Track gauge: 1,067 mm Electrification: 1,500 V DC overhead catenary Operating speed: 80 km/h Songs for this line: http://youtu.be/piEoKkiuG2k / http://youtu.be/wfGo6x6-3ho (Oshiage→Chūō-Rinkan) http://youtu.be/p2mGe3F49KU (Chūō-Rinkan→Minami-Kurihashi | Express) _____________________ 半蔵門線 (はんぞうもんせん)は、 東京都 渋谷区の渋谷駅から墨田区の押上駅までを結ぶ、 東京地下鉄 (東京メトロ)の鉄道路線。 80km/h- published: 31 Dec 2013
