Jeffrey Osborne

Jeffrey Linton Osborne (born March 9, 1948) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, lyricist and lead singer of the band, LTD.

Early life and career

Osborne was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He is the youngest of 12 children and is part of a musical family. He has five brothers and six sisters, some of whom went on to have music careers (his brother Billy was an L.T.D. bandmate). Osborne's father, Clarence "Legs" Osborne, was a popular trumpeter who played with Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington and died when Osborne was thirteen. Osborne started his music career in 1970 with a band called Love Men Ltd., who would later become known as L.T.D. The band recorded hit singles such as "(Every Time I Turn Around) Back in Love Again", "Concentrate on You," "Love Ballad" and "Holding On (When Love Is Gone)". At first, Osborne was a drummer, sharing lead vocal duties with his brother Billy, but by 1978 he became the group's primary lead vocalist. He and Billy both left L.T.D. in late 1980 to start solo careers. His solo success includes five gold and platinum albums.

Reception

The album reached number 49 on the Billboard 200 albums chart along with two singles, "On The Wings Of Love" and "I Really Don't Need No Light", peaking at numbers 29 and 39 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. Jeffrey Osborne wrote the lyrics for the former; Peter Schless composed the music. "On the Wings of Love" also reached number 23 on the Cash Box Top 100, number 7 on the U.S. Adult Contemporary chart, and number 11 in the UK.

Only Human (Example song)

"Only Human" is a song by British singer Example. It was released through Epic Records as an instant download when you pre-ordered his fifth studio album Live Life Living from 26 March 2014 onwards. The song is written and produced by Example, Sheldrake and Alf Bamford.

Background and release

"Only Human" was first performed live at a pre-festival warm-up show at the O2 Academy Bristol on 6 June 2013.

On March 26, Example released the song as a promotional single.

Only Human (Doctor Who)

Only Human is a BBC Books original novel written by Gareth Roberts and based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It was published on September 8, 2005, alongside The Deviant Strain and The Stealers of Dreams. It features the Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler and Captain Jack.

Synopsis

The presence of a Neanderthal on present-day Earth alerts the Doctor, Rose and Jack to the fact that someone is meddling with time. In order to learn the truth, they must travel back 28,000 years, where they meet humans of the past and future — and something far, far worse.

Plot

At a fancy dress party in Bromley, a young Roman starts a fight with a caveman.

Meanwhile, on the TARDIS, the Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack Harkness are setting off to Kegron Pluva. Explaining that it is a "dirty rip engine" that is causing the disturbance, the Doctor pilots the TARDIS to Bromley in the early 21st century.

The TARDIS lands, and the Doctor and Jack attempt to trace the disturbance. Rose goes across the street to a manicure shop and finds out that a fight at a nightclub resulted in a caveman being taken to hospital.

Beyond the Sea (K album)

Beyond the Sea is the first Japanese album of K, featuring the popular "Only Human", theme song to the drama 1 Litre of Tears. It was released in CD+DVD and CD-only formats, with the CD+DVD being a limited release, featuring a short clip titled the prologue of K, describing the artist's debut.
