Kerry warns Assad over Syria violence

US Secretary of State says Syrian opposition will be given wide support if Assad refuses to negotiate.

The US Secretary of State is warning Syria's President that the opposition will be given wide support if Bashar al-Assad refuses to negotiate on a peace deal.

John Kerry is meeting with foreign ministers in the Jordanian capital, in an attempt to end the two-year conflict. Kerry said the US will respond if Assad fails to come to a peaceful solution.

Al Jazeera's Nisreen El-Shamayleh reports from Amman.
