What it means: The 49ers remain very much alive in the NFC West after winning for the third time in four games. The 49ers also have a new starting quarterback after Troy Smith, though ragged for much of the game, repeatedly made huge plays, including in the clutch, to lead a fourth-quarter comeback victory. There's no way 49ers coach Mike Singletary can justify going back to Alex Smith in the short term. Troy Smith exploited an injury-depleted Rams secondary, particularly when he had time to throw. San Francisco finally won a game it absolutely had to win. This one should build confidence. The Rams, meanwhile, fell to 0-4 on the road heading into a tough Week 11 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. This was another blown opportunity away from the Edward Jones Dome for the Rams.
What I liked: Smith continued to give the 49ers life at quarterback. He is not always pretty. Sometimes he holds the ball too long. But he's not afraid to make things happen, and that separates him from injured starter Alex Smith. Troy Smith has restored the big-play element to the 49ers' offense. He completed 17 of 28 passes for 356 yards, one touchdown and a 116.7 rating. He took five sacks, but was a big play waiting to happen.
What I didn't like: The 49ers appeared poorly coached throughout the game, wasting timeouts and committing costly penalties. They made negative plays even immediately following those wasted timeouts. This performance was far too sloppy, particularly for a team coming out of its bye week. The Rams, meanwhile, showed again they cannot close out road games against flawed opponents. They badly need another front-line target for quarterback Sam Bradford, who completed 30 of 42 passes for 251 yards, one touchdown and a 94.4 rating.
Injurie(s) of note: The Rams lost starting left tackle Rodger Saffold to an ankle injury. The 49ers' left tackle, Joe Staley, hopped off the field with an apparent left leg injury after the winning touchdown. He came out of the game previously and struggled holding up in protection while playing hurt. Anthony Davis, the 49ers' right tackle, also appeared to get hurt during the game, although he stayed on the field.
Hero: Joe Nedney's 29-yard field goal to win the game wasn't particularly heroic, but imagine if Nedney had missed? Making this field goal saved the 49ers' season.
Critical Call: Officials flagged Rams safety Oshiomogho Atogwe for a 22-yard pass-interference penalty on the 49ers' winning drive. Troy Smith threw toward the middle of the field in desperation while he was about to be sacked. Tight end Delanie Walker ran through Atogwe on his way to the middle of the field.
What's next: The Rams return home to face the Atlanta Falcons. The 49ers face the Tampa Bay Bucs at Candlestick Park in Week 11.
Heisman winner, but more importantly, wolverine killer. Troy was 3-0 vs that school up north. He has surpassed Joe Germain as my favorite Buckeye qb. Best of luck in the NFL Troy, we love you.

Troy (Ancient Greek: Ἴλιον, Ilion, and Τροία, Troia; Latin: Trōia and Īlium;Hittite: Wilusa or Truwisa;Turkish: Truva) was a city, both factual and legendary, located in northwest Anatolia in what is now Turkey, southeast of the Dardanelles and beside Mount Ida. It is best known for being the setting of the Trojan War described in the Greek Epic Cycle and especially in the Iliad, one of the two epic poems attributed to Homer. Metrical evidence from the Iliad and the Odyssey seems to show that the name Ἴλιον (Ilion) formerly began with a digamma: Ϝίλιον (Wilion). This was later supported by the Hittite form Wilusa.
A new city called Ilium was founded on the site in the reign of the Roman Emperor Augustus. It flourished until the establishment of Constantinople and declined gradually during the Byzantine era.
In 1865, English archaeologist Frank Calvert excavated trial trenches in a field he had bought from a local farmer at Hisarlık, and in 1868, Heinrich Schliemann, wealthy German businessman and archaeologist, also began excavating in the area after a chance meeting with Calvert in Çanakkale. These excavations revealed several cities built in succession. Schliemann was at first skeptical about the identification of Hissarlik with Troy, but was persuaded by Calvert and took over Calvert's excavations on the eastern half of the Hissarlik site, which was on Calvert's property. Troy VII has been identified with the Hittite Wilusa, the probable origin of the Greek Ἴλιον, and is generally (but not conclusively) identified with Homeric Troy.

Troy James Smith (born July 20, 1984) is an American football quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL) in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Smith has also played for the San Francisco 49ers. He has also played for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League (UFL). He played college football for Ohio State University, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 2006, his senior year with the Buckeyes. He took 86.7% of the first place votes in balloting for the Heisman, the most in the history of the award.
Smith's mother raised him and two siblings in Columbus, Ohio, then moved to the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland.
Smith first brought out an interest in playing football in Cleveland, where he played for the Glenville A's, initially as running back and tight end. Irvin White, his coach, moved Smith to quarterback after a few games and Smith stayed in the position.
In 1993, Smith was placed in foster care with Diane and Irvin White while his mother dealt with personal issues.

What it means: The 49ers remain very much alive in the NFC West after winning for the third time in four games. The 49ers also have a new starting quarterback after Troy Smith, though ragged for much of the game, repeatedly made huge plays, including in the clutch, to lead a fourth-quarter comeback victory. There's no way 49ers coach Mike Singletary can justify going back to Alex Smith in the short term. Troy Smith exploited an injury-depleted Rams secondary, particularly when he had time to throw. There's no way 49ers coach Mike Singletary can justify going back to Alex Smith in the short term. Troy Smith exploited an injury-depleted Rams secondary, particularly when he had time to throw. San Francisco finally won a game it absolutely had to win. This one should build confidence. The Rams, meanwhile, fell to 0-4 on the road heading into a tough Week 11 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. This was another blown opportunity away from the Edward Jones Dome for the Rams.
What I liked: Smith continued to give the 49ers life at quarterback. He is not always pretty. Sometimes he holds the ball too long. But he's not afraid to make things happen, and that separates him from injured starter Alex Smith. Troy Smith has restored the big-play element to the 49ers' offense. He completed 17 of 28 passes for 356 yards, one touchdown and a 116.7 rating. He took five sacks, but was a big play waiting to happen.
What I didn't like: The 49ers appeared poorly coached throughout the game, wasting timeouts and committing costly penalties. They made negative plays even immediately following those wasted timeouts. This performance was far too sloppy, particularly for a team coming out of its bye week. The Rams, meanwhile, showed again they cannot close out road games against flawed opponents. They badly need another front-line target for quarterback Sam Bradford, who completed 30 of 42 passes for 251 yards, one touchdown and a 94.4 rating.
Injurie(s) of note: The Rams lost starting left tackle Rodger Saffold to an ankle injury. The 49ers' left tackle, Joe Staley, hopped off the field with an apparent left leg injury after the winning touchdown. He came out of the game previously and struggled holding up in protection while playing hurt. Anthony Davis, the 49ers' right tackle, also appeared to get hurt during the game, although he stayed on the field.
Hero: Joe Nedney's 29-yard field goal to win the game wasn't particularly heroic, but imagine if Nedney had missed? Making this field goal saved the 49ers' season.
Critical Call: Officials flagged Rams safety Oshiomogho Atogwe for a 22-yard pass-interference penalty on the 49ers' winning drive. Troy Smith threw toward the middle of the field in desperation while he was about to be sacked. Tight end Delanie Walker ran through Atogwe on his way to the middle of the field.
What's next: The Rams return home to face the Atlanta Falcons. The 49ers face the Tampa Bay Bucs at Candlestick Park in Week 11.

Troy was a city, both factual and legendary, in northwest Anatolia in what is now Turkey, south of the southwest end of the Dardanelles / Hellespont and northwest of Mount Ida. It is best known for being the setting of the Trojan War described in the Greek Epic Cycle and especially in the Iliad, one of the two epic poems attributed to Homer. Metrical evidence from the Iliad and the Odyssey seems to show that the name Ἴλιον (Ilion) formerly began with a digamma: Ϝίλιον (Wilion). This was later supported by the Hittite form Wilusa.
A new city called Ilium was founded on the site in the reign of the Roman Emperor Augustus. It flourished until the establishment of Constantinople and declined gradually during the Byzantine era.
In 1865, English archaeologist Frank Calvert excavated trial trenches in a field he had bought from a local farmer at Hisarlık, and in 1868, Heinrich Schliemann, wealthy German businessman and archaeologist, also began excavating in the area after a chance meeting with Calvert in Çanakkale. These excavations revealed several cities built in succession. Schliemann was at first skeptical about the identification of Hisarlik with Troy, but was persuaded by Calvert and took over Calvert's excavations on the eastern half of the Hisarlik site, which was on Calvert's property. Troy VII has been identified with the Hittite Wilusa, the probable origin of the Greek Ἴλιον, and is generally (but not conclusively) identified with Homeric Troy.
Today, the hill at Hisarlik has given its name to a small village near the ruins, supporting the tourist trade visiting the Troia archaeological site. It lies within the province of Çanakkale, some 30 km south-west of the provincial capital, also called Çanakkale. The nearest village is Tevfikiye. The map here shows the adapted Scamander estuary with Ilium a little way inland across the Homeric plain.
Troia was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1998.
Homeric Troy
Ancient Greek historians variously placed the Trojan War in the 12th, 13th, or 14th centuries BC: Eratosthenes to 1184 BC, Herodotus to 1250 BC, Duris of Samos to 1334 BC. Modern archaeologists associate Homeric Troy with archaeological Troy VII.
In the Iliad, the Achaeans set up their camp near the mouth of the River Scamander (presumably modern Karamenderes),[9] where they had beached their ships. The city of Troy itself stood on a hill, across the plain of Scamander, where the battles of the Trojan War took place. The site of the ancient city is some 5 km from the coast today, but the ancient mouths of Scamander, some 3,000 years ago, were about that distance inland, pouring into a large bay that formed a natural harbour that has since been filled with alluvial material. Recent geological findings have permitted the reconstruction of how the original Trojan coastline would have looked, and the results largely confirm the accuracy of the Homeric geography of Troy.
In November 2001, geologists John C. Kraft from the University of Delaware and John V. Luce from Trinity College, Dublin presented the results[12][13][14][full citation needed] of investigations, begun in 1977, into the geology of the region. They compared the present geology with the landscapes and coastal features described in the Iliad and other classical sources, notably Strabo's Geographia, and concluded that there is a regular consistency between the location of Schliemann's Troy and other locations such as the Greek camp, the geological evidence, descriptions of the topography and accounts of the battle in the Iliad.
Besides the Iliad, there are references to Troy in the other major work attributed to Homer, the Odyssey, as well as in other ancient Greek literature (like Aeschylus' Oresteia). The Homeric legend of Troy was elaborated by the Roman poet Virgil in his Aeneid. The Greeks and Romans took for a fact the historicity of the Trojan War and the identity of Homeric Troy with the site in Anatolia. Alexander the Great, for example, visited the site in 334 BC and made sacrifices at tombs there associated with the Homeric heroes Achilles and Patroclus.
After the 1995 find of a Luwian biconvex seal at Troy VII, there has been a heated discussion over the language that was spoken in Homeric Troy. Frank Starke of the University of Tübingen recently demonstrated that the name of Priam, king of Troy at the time of the Trojan War, is connected to the Luwian compound Priimuua, which means "exceptionally courageous The certainty is growing that Wilusa/Troy belonged to the greater Luwian-speaking community," although it is not entirely clear whether Luwian was primarily the official language or in daily colloquial use.

Rodrigo got in touch with them and surprised Troy, his aim was to set him up to face his fear of heights. This adrenaline pumped activity, especially for Troy, ended up to be one of the most contemplative for us! A must for any thrill seeker searching for a deep personal experience! Turkey, ‘the land beneath the half moon’. We begin our journey in Istanbul, golden gateway to the Orient, a city that was once the centre of the Old World and still reflects two and a half centuries of history. On the opposite side of the Galata Bridge on the banks of the Golden Horn is the Yeni Cami Mosque with a large number of domes and minarets built one on top of the other plus a number of precious glass windows. The Grand Basare is a city within a city. Through a large gate there is a labyrinth of corridors that were built over many centuries. The enclosed market contains more than four thousand shops within its seemingly endless halls and it is possible to buy almost anything here. A vivid world full of the aromas of the orient. Near to the west coast of Turkey situated between Troy and Ephesos is one of the most famous and well preserved ancient cities of this region, Pergamon. This, in the Hellenic era, was an ancient cosmopolitan city the traces of which are still visible today. Marmaris is situated on the Turkish Riviera and was once well protected by a mediaeval fortress. Turkey, ‘the land beneath the half moon’. We begin our journey in Istanbul, golden gateway to the Orient, a city that was once the centre of the Old World and still reflects two and a half centuries of history. On the opposite side of the Galata Bridge on the banks of the Golden Horn is the Yeni Cami Mosque with a large number of domes and minarets built one on top of the other plus a number of precious glass windows. The Grand Basare is a city within a city. Through a large gate there is a labyrinth of corridors that were built over many centuries. The enclosed market contains more than four thousand shops within its seemingly endless halls and it is possible to buy almost anything here. A vivid world full of the aromas of the orient. Near to the west coast of Turkey situated between Troy and Ephesos is one of the most famous and well preserved ancient cities of this region, Pergamon. This, in the Hellenic era, was an ancient cosmopolitan city the traces of which are still visible today. Marmaris is situated on the Turkish Riviera and was once well protected by a mediaeval fortress. This is a comprehensive travel journal looking at life in Vietnam in the modern day. I journey from major cities and tourist attractions in Saigon and Hanoi all the way to the furthest reaches of the outback wilderness miles from civilisation. In some places I didn't see people or even cows or chickens for over four hours.
At times I nearly shit myself imagining the nightmare scenarios like getting a snake bite or a puncture out there.
Thank Buddha it all turned out rosy.
Also the brutal roads by night are not captured here but let me tell you it was a bit terrifying at times overtaking trucks and buses in a slither of a dirt lane in the dark. Forget streetlights. I had to rely purely on human eyesight. (As an Asian that's never a good thing).
One rock in the wrong spot and you end up as Vietnamese roadkill.
But enough of the dark side!
The awe inspiring landscapes and scenery were indeed spectacular. But they played second fiddle to the spirit of the Vietnamese people that I witnessed from all corners of the country.
These cats are the most resourceful, industrious and cheerful bunch I've ever seen. Most are over the moon to see someone make the effort to come out and visit their unique patch of dirt.
I've never been made to feel more special and welcome than in the furthest reaches of the nation. Old ladies, smart kids, grumpy old men and curious farm hands all make this a unique and wondrous country full of hidden gems and treasures.
Locations: Dalat, Pleiku, Kontum, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Hanoi, Nha Trang, Saigon, Dak Glei, Bao Loc, Ea Drang, Buon Ma Thuot. I mainly travelled on the Ho Chi Minh Road. Where it split I took the Western Ho Chi Minh Road which is more isolated but offers more untouched jungle scenery and more impressive limestone mountain landscapes.

1. How many owners?
2. Name on title?
3. Clear Title?
4. Mileage?
5. Why Selling?
6. How was vehicle acquired? Auction, trade-in?
7. Vehicle Condition? Paint, body, engine, interior?
8. Dents or Rust?
9. Any Leaks?
10. Is Transition Shift smooth?
11. Which oil has been used?
12. Any accidents?
13. Service Records available?
14. Tire tread %
15. Brake pad % - squeaks?
16. What service has been recently done - records?
17. Cruise Control?
18. Previous Smoker?
Pre-Purchase Inspection Check-List:
Exterior -
1. Check body for scratches, dents and rust. Look for misaligned fenders & doors - use magnet on suspected body repair.
2. Look under car and inside wheel wells for rust. Check bottom of doors - use flashlight.
3. Open and gently close each door, inspect rubber seals for tearing and rot.
4. Check for chips in windshield
5. Have dealer/owner show that all lights & reverse lights work.
6. Check that all tires are the same and check tread left, wear and side walls.
7. Look for damage/rust on roof
Interior -
1. Smell for odors inside vehicle
2. Remove floor mats and check for wet spots in the carpet - look for signs of rust.
3. Check seats for damage & tears, make sure the adjustments work.
4. Check pedal wear
5. Test radio and speakers
6. Check headliner for damage or sagging
7. Check for tire jack and tools
Engine -
1. Check engine for cleanliness and leaks both inside engine compartment on the ground
2. Check hoses - should be firm and supple, not cracked or rock-hard or mushy
3. Oil should be dark brown or black - newly changed oil will be honey colored - look for water droplets - indicates possible cracked engine block or blown head gasket
4. Transmission should be pink, not brown and smell like oil not burnt - be wary of visible pieces of metal on rag from dipstick.
5. Radiator - coolant should be green or orange - not milky or rust colored
6. Check tailpipe - Tailpipe smudge should be dark gray and dry not black and greasy
