Chuck Ragan is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. From 1993 until 2006 he was one of the lead singers for Gainesville, Florida-based punk rock band Hot Water Music. The group disbanded on good terms in 2006, and the other three members went on to form punk band The Draft, while Ragan launched a solo career playing folk music similar in tone to a former acoustic Hot Water Music side project called Rumbleseat. He has since released a series of 7-inches on No Idea Records, and a live album and a studio album on Side One Dummy Records. Hot Water Music reunited in 2007 for a tour across the United States and Europe.

Tours

Chuck Ragan, Tim Barry and Ben Nichols toured in the fall of 2008. Chuck Ragan was also a support act on Frank Turner's 2010 tour of the UK, and supported The Gaslight Anthem during their 2010 European Fall tour. Ragan will be the opener on the Social Distortion west coast tour in late January and February 2011. A revival tour with Brian Fallon is planned for late 2011.

Future projects

In a February 12, 2010 interview, Chuck commented that he was working on an album with Brian Fallon, frontman for the Gaslight Anthem.

Chuck Ragan plans to release a four way split with underground UK singer-songwriters Sam Russo, Helen Chambers and Jimmy Islip at some point in 2011.

Thomas James Gabel (born November 8, 1980) is the lead vocalist, songwriter, and a guitarist for Gainesville, Florida punk rock band Against Me!, as well as a solo artist. He was born on Fort Benning, Georgia a US Army post, where his father was stationed. At age 17, he dropped out of high school and formed Against Me! as a solo act in Naples, Florida. The act has since become a quartet, and have released five full-length albums.

Gabel's solo debut, entitled ''Heart Burns'', was released October 28, 2008 on Sire Records.

Personal life

Gabel is married to artist Heather Gabel (née Hannoura), who has designed merchandise for bands including Alkaline Trio, My Chemical Romance, AFI, and The Lawrence Arms. They had their first child, a baby girl named Evelyn, in November 2009. Gabel also eats a vegan diet.

Brian Fallon (born January 28, 1980) is an American musician. Fallon is one of the founding members of the band The Gaslight Anthem. He plays guitar and provides lead vocals for the band. He is currently working on a side project called The Horrible Crowes

Biography

Brian Fallon was born in Red Bank, New Jersey in 1980. His mother Debbie was in a folk band in the late 1960s called 'The Group Folk Singers'. Fallon spent his teen years in Hackettstown, New Jersey, where he became close friends with Tom "Tommy Gunn" DuHamel of the band Communication Redlight. When Fallon was 17 he released a cassette under the stage name 'No Release'. He also once wanted to start a small record label to be called 'Old 45 Records'.

Early Music career

No Release (1997)

At the age of 17 Fallon released a cassette titled 'The Coffeehouse Sessions' under the name 'No Release'. It was released under 'Mean Little Man Productions'. There are only about 200 copies of the limited release demo. There are 16 tracks on the demo which featured Chris Eissing as lead guitar on a few tracks.

Surrogate McKenzie (1997-1999)

While Fallon was in the band Surrogate McKenzie they recorded 3 unreleased demo albums, Surrogate McKenzie (1998), Songs To Grow Up To (1998) and The Six Degrees of Separation (2000)

Amping Copper (2001)

With the band Amping Copper, which has been called "basically...Surrogate McKenzie version 2", Fallon was involved with the recording of the 6-track self-titled CD, 'Amping Copper' in 2001.

Brian Fallon - Cincinnati Rail Tie (2004)

After Amping Copper, Fallon wanted to record a solo EP, while maintaining the band feel. He asked a friend, Casey Lee Morgan, from the band Lanemeyer to play drums. Another friend, Mike Hemberger, played bass and produced the EP. One of Fallon's old guitar teachers, Tim Fogerty, played guitar on two tracks. Together they recorded, 'The American Music EP' in 2004, the EP also featured Fallon's mother on backing vocals.

This Charming Man (2005)

In 2005, Fallon along with Michael Volpe, Chris Clementi and Mike Leboeuf founded This Charming Man. Fallon remained the only original member when Benny Horowitz and Alex Levine and eventually Alex Rosamilia joined; thus bringing together the present lineup of The Gaslight Anthem. After some time with the new lineup, they changed their name, forming The Gaslight Anthem.

This Charming Man's only full release was 'Every Little Secret' in 2005, with the original lineup. Another song by the original band called "She Coulda Raised the Titanic" later became The Gaslight Anthem's "1930" song on the Sink or Swim album.

The Gaslight Anthem (2005-Present)

Fallon has been the prominent song writer and vocalist for The Gaslight Anthem since their formation from This Charming Man. With the band he has recorded 3 studio albums, Sink or Swim, The '59 Sound and American Slang. In 2009, he joined Bruce Springsteen on stage for the headlining set at the Hard Rock Calling Festival, performing the song "No Surrender."

Following the release of their third full-length album, American Slang, Fallon himself said, "There's so much else that we look at for our sound and influences that you don't want to be notched in with one guy," Fallon explains. "There's a lot of things [Springsteen] does that I admire. We come from a lot of the same places but a lot of different places, too. But at the same time, that's a good thing to be compared to. I think it's one of those things we're gonna have to wear until it wears out."

The Horrible Crowes (2011-Present)

On January 20, 2011, Fallon announced on his blog that he had formed the group The Horrible Crowes with his guitar Tech, Ian Perkins. In the same entry, Brian also says, "The name comes from a poem called the Twa Corbies, which means, "two crows." Check it out,it's a dark commentary on life. ... It's the darker side of soul music, it's slow, it slithers, and it's raw. At the same time, the melodies and pianos are a juxtaposition to the topic material because it's eerily soothing. I'm really proud of what's been coming out and we'll see how it goes, but it's in the works and it's heading for an actual record."

Fallon suggests the possibility that the group may do some touring, but nothing major like Gaslight does. He also assures his fans that this is his "for me" project, as he puts it and that Gaslight is still 'his baby'. It has been announced on the Horrible Crowes page that a full length album is to be released in the future.

Only a preview of the duo's first song has been released, entitled "Black Betty and the Moon." The song can be found on YouTube.

The first single "Behold the Hurricane" was made available for streaming through RollingStone.com on July 13, 2011.

Australian website bombshellzine.com posted a review of the album on August 24th revealing a September 9, 2011 release date in Australia. link.

Their debut album, "Elsie" will be released in the United States on September 6, 2011. The album is reported to be a bit of a departure from the sound and attitude of The Gaslight Anthem . Fallon, in describing the upcoming album said: "As much as I have this fantasy in the Gaslight Anthem of being Bruce Springsteen , I also have this fantasy of being Tom Waitsor Greg Dulli . These songs are very dark; they’re like hymns for lonely people, it’s really a trip through a breakdown and that dissent into madness and hopefully redemption." Fallon and Perkins will begin playing a limited number of shows in support of the album starting September 8th.

Non-musical endeavors

Fallon along with the other Gaslight Anthem members, Alex Rosamilia, Alex Levine and Ben Horowitz have advertised for Levi Jeans. Fallon has also appeared on a Jones Soda bottle, standing next to the Phil Lynott statue in Dublin.

The Old 97's are an alternative country band from Dallas, Texas. Formed in 1993, they have since released nine studio albums, two full extended plays, shared split duty on another, and have one live album. Their most recent release is ''The Grand Theatre, Volume Two''. They are recognized as pioneers of the alt-country movement during the mid to late 1990s along with bands such as Uncle Tupelo, Drive-By Truckers, Whiskeytown, The Jayhawks, and The Bottle Rockets.

Career

Initially a popular Dallas bar band, the Old 97's toured the country after releasing their first album, 1994's ''Hitchhike to Rhome'' and 1995's split EP release ''Stoned / Garage Sale'' with fellow Dallas band ''Funland'' on ''Idol Records''. In Chicago, they caught the attention of Bloodshot Records and were signed to record their next album. 1995's ''Wreck Your Life'', now lauded by many fans as the band's best work, brought them to the attention of Elektra Records, who hoped that alt-country could be a new post-grunge fad. Lead singer Rhett Miller, born in Austin, later lived in New York City and Los Angeles. Many of the band's songs include local Texas references, with New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago appearing as well.

Most songs are written and sung by Miller, with bassist Murry Hammond picking up the vocals on one or two tracks per album. Hammond also handled a number of country covers, especially in the band's earlier years. Hammond also performs gospel at his local church. The band's 2004 album ''Drag It Up'' also includes a song written and sung by guitarist Ken Bethea, "Coahuila."

The band has never reached the level of success expected of them by the music press and was one of the acts purged from Elektra after the merger of Time Warner and America Online. In 2005, ''Blender'' magazine ranked the band's most successful single, 1999's "Murder (Or A Heart Attack)", as the 176th greatest song "since you were born." However, more recently, their music has been featured in a number of hit movies and TV series, including ''The Break-Up'' ("Salome", "Melt Show", "Timebomb"), ''Ed'' ("Question", "King of All the World"), ''Scrubs'' ("Question"), and ''Veronica Mars'' ("Adelaide", "Four-Leaf Clover", "The New Kid").

Rhett Miller has recorded four solo albums, with 2002's ''The Instigator'' receiving substantial airplay on alternative-oriented radio stations. He toured with Neil Finn in 2004. Miller's second major commercial album, ''The Believer'', was released in February 2006. Murry Hammond's solo album, ''I Don't Know Where I'm Going But I'm on My Way'', was released April 21, 2008.

The Old 97's have been heralded as a great live band, although they claim never to rehearse their act. They included five live songs as a bonus disc on ''Satellite Rides'', and released a live double CD set recorded at historic Gruene Hall in 2005, ''Alive & Wired''.

Rhino Entertainment released ''Hit by a Train: The Best of Old 97's'', an eighteen track compilation of songs from the band's beginnings through 2001, featuring liner notes and an essay by rock critic Robert Christgau.

Satellite Rides is faux "tribute band." It's actually an alias the band performs under when contractual obligations prevent them from using the Old 97's name. The recording of "Timebomb" from the live album ''Alive & Wired'' was made available for download along with other alt-country songs for the music video games ''Rock Band'' and ''Rock Band 2''.

Their current project, ''The Grand Theatre'', was released in two volumes. The first ''The Grand Theatre, Volume One'' was released on October 12, 2010. The second ''The Grand Theatre, Volume Two'' was released on July 5, 2011.

Jonathan Charles Gaunt (born 3 March 1961 in Coventry), is an English radio talk show presenter,TV Personality, newspaper columnist, social commentator and spokesman.

Gaunt describes himself as a "working-class, educated guy with, in broad strokes, a rightwing agenda". He appears every Wednesday as a newspaper reviewer on ''Sky News Sunrise''. He also appears as a contributor to TV programmes such as Question Time, Countdown, The Daily Politics, BBC News. On Radio, Gaunt is a regular contributor on BBC Radio Two's Jeremy Vine Show.

Play and script writer

He studied Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham. On graduation he founded a theatre co-operative in Coventry called ''Tic Toc,'' and wrote over 15 political plays. The company eventually received funding from West Midlands Arts and the Arts Council of Britain. It was also funded by the company becoming a major promoter at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, promoting and hosting acts such as Julian Clary, Harry Enfield and Mike Myers.

His most successful play was ''Hooligans'' which won a Fringe First at the 1986 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It also won the Perrier Pick of The Fringe. This play was subsequently adapted by Yorkshire Television, and Gaunt began writing for television, becoming a member of the ''Emmerdale'' script writing team for two years. In 1989, Gaunt and the company raised over one million pounds from the private sector and West Midlands Enterprise Board to buy and renovate an old cinema, The Orchid, into a multi-purpose arts centre and nightclub called The TicToc Club. This venture went into administration in 1992.

Radio presenter

Gaunt then ran the Livingston Forum in West Lothian, Scotland for a year, before returning to Coventry where a chance meeting with Moz Dee, who later became the programme director at Talksport, led to him being persuaded to audition for the local radio station for which Dee worked, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

Gaunt has worked for many radio stations, including BBC Three Counties Radio, BBC WM, BBC London 94.9, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire and Talksport. Gaunt's BBC Three Counties show was awarded three Sony Radio Academy Gold Award in 2001.

Gaunt hosted a mid-morning current affairs show on Talksport. On 18 November 2008 it was announced that Talksport had terminated Gaunt's contract following an interview with Redbridge Council's Michael Stark on 7 November, in which Gaunt branded Councillor Stark a "Nazi", and "an ignorant pig" live on air in a discussion about whether smokers should be allowed to foster children in care. Gaunt felt that the policy was draconian and would leave children in care, where he believed that they would be in much more danger. He had criticised Redbridge Council in similar terms in his Sun newspaper column that morning. Ofcom later found Talksport in "breach of broadcasting rules" as a result of the incident.

In January 2009 Gaunt stated his intent to fight the human rights case for the sake of "all broadcasters", before turning his attention to suing Talksport for terminating his contract. In January 2010 he won the right to appeal against Ofcom on the grounds that it had breached his right to freedom of expression. The case returned to the High Court of Justice on 15–16 June 2010, but on 13 July it was announced that Gaunt had lost his case, the judge upholding Ofcom's decision and concluding that "the offensive and abusive nature of the broadcast was gratuitous, having no factual content or justification". Human rights group Liberty intervened in the case because of its "wider importance to free speech", but Gaunt's decision to appeal the judge's ruling was dismissed in the Court of Appeal in June 2011.

From April 2009 to July 2010, Gaunt presented an online radio talk show for ''The Sun'''s website, called ''Sun Talk''. The show was also broadcast on regular FM radio in Spain, on the Costa Blanca via Bay Radio (Spain) and Costa Del Sol via Spectrum FM. The three-hour talkshow was broadcast every weekday from 10am to 1pm GMT.

In March 2010, the show won a British Press Award for Digital Innovation, and Gaunt was nominated for a Sony Radio Award for Speech Radio Personality of the year. In May that year, SunTalk announced that it would be expanding its output for the 2010 World Cup.

In July 2010 SunTalk was closed down by News International, as part of a cost review strategy to focus on core operations.

In August 2010 Gaunt became the official spokesman for the EU Referendum Campaign.
