The World's Most Terrifying Penises: The Echidna
My second video in my "The World's Most Terrifying Penises", dealing with australia's Echidna, or Spiny Anteater, and moreover, their horrifying and disgusting reproductive practices.
As with my previous entry, more of the series can be seen at my journal : http://dave-littler.livejournal.com/
If you're disapointed with the relative lack of echidna dick footage in this video, you're not alone. There's a lot less footage of echidna dick out there than there is of slug cock.

The Echidna (or Spiny Ant-eater) (1969)
The echidna and the platypus belong to a group of egg-laying mammals - Prototheria. Called mammals because they have mammary glands for the sustenance of the young, they also exhibit reptilian characteristics.
This film, designed principally for zoology students, shows echidnas in the field and in the laboratory - their feeding behaviour and the suckling of the young. An animated sequence, explaining how the fertilised egg develops, is followed by actual film of the egg in the pouch and the young at various stages of development.
A book on the Echidna is available from CSIRO Publishing - http://www.publish.csiro.au/pid/5143.htm

Echidna (Spiney Anteater)
Awesome Victor, the short-beaked echidna is being held here by Tavio at the San Diego Childrens Zoo. Cora is the cute girl stroking Victor's quills.
Meet a strange and wonderful creature over 50 years old called an echidna, or spiny anteater. From Australia, New Guinea, and Tasmania, this primitive mammal is like the duckbill platypus in that THE GIRLS CAN LAY EGGS! This is a primitive creature from prehistoric times that has adapted over many many years. They have no teeth, but a long sticky tongue to eat ants, earthworms and termites. It has a very good sense of smell at the end of it's nose (or beak), and good ears (has ear slits) and can dig like crazy - just look at those claws!
To have babies, the female lays sort of a leathery egg the size of a grape! She rolls the small egg into a pouch on her stomach. A baby echidna that hatches 10 days later is called a PUGGLE! She secretes from a gland in the pouch to feed the baby... she has no nipples like other mammals.

Fun Facts About Echidna
Learn Fun Facts About Echidna.
The Echidna is an animal so rare and bizarre that most people have never even heard of it.
Even more than its odd appearance, what sets the echidna apart is that it's a mammal that lays eggs.
This puts it into the order of monotreme, shared by only one other kind of animal: the platypus.
The echidna lays about one egg at a time, roughly about once a year, which it houses in a pouch on its belly.
The creature's long nose houses an equally long tongue that it uses to lick up ants, while its spines are a defensive feature.
Unfortunately, the rarity of the echidna also means that it is an endangered species, and must be protected in order to ensure its survival.

Echidna study unlocks mating habits.
Scientists in Australia have unlocked the breeding habits of a small animal called the echidna, opening the way for them to save a range of endangered mammals in the wild.
The hedgehog-like echidnas have similar biological and mating patterns to many other animals, like porcupines, but until now it had been thought impossible to breed them in captivity.

Short-Beaked Echidna (Spiny Ant-Eater)
Video footage of a Short-Beaked Echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus) also known as a Spiny Ant Eater. The Echidna belongs to the family Tachyglossidae, of the monotreme order of mammals that are egg-laying. They mainly eat ants and termites. They live in Australia and New Guinea. Echidnas are covered with coarse fur and hard spines.
They look a bit like anteaters, hedgehogs and porcupines.
Echidnas have the ability to burrow into the ground at surprisingly great speed.
This video footage of the Short-Beaked Echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus) was filmed at Dubbo Zoo, NSW, Australia.
Filmed in 1080p HD HQ video.
