• Capital Radio
  Capital London is a London based radio station which launched on 16 October 1973 and is owned by Global Radio. On 3 January 2011 it formed part of the nine station Capital radio network.
  Following the 1964–68 offshore radio boom, the Conservative Party, under Edward Heath promised in its 1970 General Election Manifesto that should it win, it would introduce local commercial radio in addition to the commercial television which had started in 1955. This was a result of much lobbying from a particular pressure group, the Local Radio Association, who felt that commercial radio should be introduced following the launch of Associated Rediffusion and ITV. The Tories won and swiftly introduced the Sound Broadcasting Act 1972 which allowed for the introduction of Independent Local Radio and the newly-renamed Independent Broadcasting Authority from the Independent Television Authority.
  The Independent Broadcasting Authority advertised local radio licences in certain locations in the United Kingdom under the umbrella term of Independent Local Radio. London was due to receive two ILR licences: one for news and another for general entertainment. Radio Capital, later to become Capital Radio, was formed in early 1970 by David Maule-ffinch with the intent to apply for the general entertainment license. In late 1970, David's future father-in-law, Barclay Barclay-White became involved. The Radio Capital team that was finally in place at the time of application to the IBA included Sir Richard Attenborough, Sir George Martin, Bryan Forbes, Sir Peter Saunders, David Maule-ffinch and Barclay Barclay-White. David Maule-Ffinch was a member of the board of Capital Radio and its largest stockholder until 1994, when he sold his controlling interest to Information et Publicite, a subsidiary of Havas, the French media conglomerate.

  Dartford, Kent
  The Borough of Dartford is a local government district and borough in north west Kent, England, which takes its name from its administrative capital. It borders Thurrock, to the north across the River Thames; to the west lies the London Borough of Bexley; to the south Sevenoaks district; and the borough of Gravesham to the east. The population of the borough recorded in the 2001 census was 85,911.
  The borough was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Dartford, Swanscombe Urban District, and part of Dartford Rural District. In the mid-1990s review of local government in Kent, consideration was given to merging the borough with that of adjoining Gravesham to form a new unitary authority. However the proposal proved unpopular amongst residents, and the two borough councils kept their identities.
  Since 2010, Dartford's MP is Gareth Johnson (Conservative) who replaced the outgoing Howard Stoate (Labour). The Mayor for the year May 2010 to May 2011 is Councillor Pat Coleman.   Yalding House
  Yalding House is a building at 152–156 Great Portland Street, London, England, where BBC Radio 1 has been based since 1996.
  Yalding House is also home to BBC Radio 1Xtra, the digital sister station of BBC Radio 1 and previously home to BBC Switch, the umbrella brand for the BBC's youth output across radio, television and online until its closure in 2010. It is also the production base for the stations' news output: 1Xtra News and Radio 1's Newsbeat.
  Radio 1 was previously based at Egton House, which was demolished in 2003 to make way for the new Broadcasting House extensions. Radio 1 will move to the new 'John Peel Wing' (formerly 'Egton Wing') in Broadcasting House, built on the same site as Egton House, in Autumn 2012. The wing is named after veteran DJ John Peel who broadcast on the station from its launch in 1967 up until his death in 2004.
  Radio 3 previously occupied the building with the BBC Central Music Library located on the ground floor and basement. The building's former role as a car showroom made it ideal for the heavy shelving required to store the collection.

  Artists and repertoire (A&R) is the division of a record label that is responsible for talent scouting and overseeing the artistic development of recording artists. It also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label; every activity involving artists to the point of album release is generally considered under the purview of, and responsibility of, A&R.
  The A&R division is responsible for discovering new recording artists and bringing them to the record company. They are expected to understand the current tastes of the market and to be able to find artists that will be commercially successful. For this reason, A&R people are often young and many are musicians, music journalists or record producers.
  An A&R executive is authorized to offer a record contract, often in the form of a "deal memo": a short informal document that establishes a business relationship between the recording artist and the record company. The actual contract negotiations will typically be carried out by rival entertainment lawyers hired by the musician's manager and the record company.

  Ally McCrae (born 1987), is best known as the presenter of BBC Radio 1 Scotland's show, and as co-creator of Detour Scotland. In 2011, Scotland on Sunday ranked him Scotland's 9th "Most Eligible Man".
  On November 2, 2010 it was announced that Ally McCrae would take over from Vic Galloway as presenter of BBC Radio 1 Introducing show as part of a UK wide shake up of BBC Radio 1's Introducing setup.
  Detour Scotland was primarily created as a podcast for featuring unsigned Scottish bands but soon gained a reputation for putting on gigs, including the 'The Wee Jaunt'. These gigs were held around the Glasgow area with the audience being taken round a host of locations, where several different local bands would perform sets everywhere from dark alley-ways to a large pond in Rouken Glen Park. Detour also runs events in several more common music venues around Scotland and runs an online video blog.

  Andrew Parfitt (born October 1958, Bristol) is the Executive Director of Talent for ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi . He was the Controller of BBC Radio 1 in the United Kingdom, and held that role from 1998-2011, taking over from Matthew Bannister. He was also the controller of BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Asian Network, BBC Popular Music and BBC Switch.
  He went to Ashton Park Comprehensive School in Bower Ashton, Bristol. He then went to the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (now an associate college of UWE). From 1978-9, he was the assistant stage manager at the Bristol Arts Centre.
  Parfitt joined the BBC in 1980 working as a Studio Manager. He spent some time with BFBS in the Falkland Islands, before returning to the UK in 1984. He became a producer in BBC Education in 1985, then joined Radio 4 in 1987 and produced Pick of the Week and Bookshelf. He helped set up Radio 5, and became the network's Assistant Editor in 1989. He joined Radio 1 as Chief Assistant to the Controller in 1993. A year later he was promoted first to Editor, Commissioning and Planning and soon after to Managing Editor. In 1997, he became the network's Deputy Controller when Matthew Bannister was appointed Director of BBC Radio.

• Annie Nightingale
  Anne "Annie" Avril Nightingale MBE (born 1 April 1940) is an English radio broadcaster. She is most commonly known by the more informal name of Annie. She was the first female presenter on BBC Radio 1 and, since the death of John Peel in October 2004, is its longest-serving presenter.
  After attending Lady Eleanor Holles School, Hampton, London and the Polytechnic of Central London School of Journalism Nightingale began her career as a journalist in Brighton. In the 1960s she wrote columns for the Daily Express, the Daily Sketch and Cosmopolitan magazine.
  She started at Radio 1 on 1 January 1970 with a Sunday evening show. Later she then hosted the singles review show What's New in the early 1970s before graduating to a late-night progressive rock show, which was simulcast on the Radio 2 FM frequency.
  In the late 1970s she presented a Sunday afternoon request show and by 1980 was presenting a Friday night show and the non-music-based Radio 1 Mailbag. In 1978 Nightingale began presenting the The Old Grey Whistle Test on BBC2; during her tenure the show moved away from its progressive rock bias and embraced more modern, popular styles such as punk rock and new wave.

  Benga (born Adegbenga Adejumo, 28 November 1986) is a dubstep music producer from Croydon, south London, although he was born in east London. As a boy he used to hang out at the Big Apple record shop in Croydon and make his own tunes at home on his Playstation. The tunes caught the attention of dubstep producer Hatcha, who worked at the shop, and by the age of 15 Benga had made his first record, "Skank", released on Big Apple's own record label. He was also one of the first dubstep producers when the style was emerging in the early 2000s. He has been featured on a variety of compilations including Mary Anne Hobbs's Warrior Dubz, Tempa's The Roots of Dubstep and the BBC Radio 1Xtra anniversary mix. Benga is also noted for using acoustic drums on some songs, including "Live Drums" and "Evolution".
  In 2007 Benga, along with fellow producers Skream and Artwork, formed the dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man.
  Benga released the cross-over anthem "Night" with DMZ's Coki in early 2008, followed by his second album, Diary of an Afro Warrior, both on Tempa. Resident Advisor described it as "one of the most anticipated LPs in dubstep yet."

Benji B has been DJing for fifteen years and plays all over the globe all year round.
  Benji is also the resident at the monthly club night he runs in London called Deviation. The Deviation night regularly showcases famous DJs and producers, such as Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Skream, Mark Pritchard, Moodymann, Mala, Marc Mac, MJ Cole, and was the first night in Europe at which Flying Lotus and Dâm-Funk played. There have been one-off Deviation nights at Fabric featuring Madlib and J-Rocc and in Madrid, Spain. In March 2010 the night moved from its home at Gramaphone to CAMP on Old Street.

• Charles McLelland
  Charles McLelland 'Fuzz'(19 November 1930 - 2 December 2004) was the controller of BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 from 1976 to 1978, and the controller solely of BBC Radio 2 from 1978 to 1980, when the two stations' management teams were separated. Under McLelland, Radio 2 started broadcasting 24 hours a day. He also played a pivotal role in radio planning as chairman of the European Broadcasting Union radio programme committee.
  In his earlier life, McLelland served in the Royal Artillery for two years, before joining The Glasgow Herald in 1954 as a sub-editor and leader writer.
  McLelland was the head of the BBC Arabic service from 1971 to 1975 and played an important role in feeding the growing interest in Asian music and culture in Britain. To prepare for the job he took a one-year course in Arabic at the Middle East Centre for Arab Studies in Lebanon.   He is a DJ on BBC Radio 1Xtra, presenting the Hip Hop mix show from 1am - 4am on Saturday mornings, and the Saturday mid-morning show. This show has been important in launching the careers of UK MCs (such as Lowkey) through his "Fire In The Booth" feature.

  Chris Moyles
  Christopher David Moyles (born 22 February 1974) is an English radio and television presenter and author, who currently presents The Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio 1 and Chris Moyles' Quiz Night on Channel 4.

Moyles has become famous for his irreverent broadcasting style on Radio 1 and has been embroiled in numerous controversies, including homophobic and sexist accusations, due to statements he has made on the air and in the press.   Chuckie, born Clyde Sergio Narain (Paramaribo, 25 June 1978) is a Dutch DJ and producer of Surinamese descent.
  Chuckie grew up in Suriname and was influenced by the large number of musical genres of the country. When one of his friends started working as a DJ, his interest for DJing started at the age of thirteen when he started experimenting with remixing at home. Gradually, he built his own record collection. At first, he played at parties of his friends and family.
  In 2003, he started working as a DJ in club Voltage in The Hague. Nowadays, he performs all the time in the Netherlands and abroad. Chuckie did remixes for other bands, including David Guetta, K-Liber, The Partysquad, and Gio.
  In 2008, he performed as the opening act at the dance event Sensation. Afterwards, he stated that this was a dream come true for him: he had visited the very first Sensation event in 2000 and promised himself that one day he would be standing behind the DJ table.
  The song "I'm In Miami Trick" (or "I'm In Miami Bitch") was originally by hip-hop group LMFAO, the remix Chuckie did was titled "Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl" (or "Let The Bass Kick In Miami Bitch"/"Let The Bass Kick In Miami Bitch"). MYNC also did an edit of the Chuckie remix which was titled "I'm In Miami Bitch (MYNC I'm In Richmond Bitch Remix)". In 2011 Chuckie was also featured on Hardwell's song "Move It To The Dru"m, which also featured vocals by Ambush. In 2012 Chuckie released "Who Is Ready To Jump?" this was solo work and the song was featured on many Ministry of Sound compilation albums including Addicted To Bass and the Ministry of Sound Annual (2012). The song was also featured on Cream Club Anthems 2012.

  Daniel P. Carter (born 16 November 1974) is a British musician and radio DJ. He is currently the singer and guitarist for hardcore punk band Hexes, bassist for A, and guitarist for alternative hip-hop group Bloodhound Gang (under the name Denial P. Cartier). Daniel is also the host of BBC Radio 1's Rock Show.
  Born in Reading, England, Daniel joined the rock band ’A’ in 1997, replacing original bassist Stevie Swindon. The band had just released their debut album How Ace Are Buildings, and spent the next year touring the UK.
  In 1999 they released their second album A vs. Monkey Kong. With its release they began touring internationally for the first time. The single "I Love Lake Tahoe" was a big hit in Germany, and in 2000 the band embarked on a worldwide tour with The Bloodhound Gang.
  The third album was Hi-Fi Serious, recorded in Germany with producer Al Clay in 2001. The first single from that album was "Nothing". The track reached the UK top 10. This was followed by top 20 hit "Starbucks". The band spent 2002 touring worldwide, appearing at many of the world's major festivals, and won a Kerrang award for best British band. In 2003 ’A’ released a brand new single "Good Time".

  Charles Derek Chinnery (born 27 April 1925 in Richmond, London) was the controller of BBC Radio 1 from 1978 to 1985.
  He attended Gosforth Grammar School (since 1973 the Gosforth High School).
  He joined the BBC in 1941 aged 16. From 1943-7 he was in the RAF. He returned to the BBC in 1947, becoming a producer in 1952.
  He took over from Charles McLelland and was succeeded by Johnny Beerling. He relaxed the guidelines on banning records, allowing records to mention a commercial product. He axed Sounds of the Seventies.
  He once described Radio 1 listeners as unemployed student louts with no money to spend.
  His successor, Johnny Beerling, would also be ex-RAF.

  Devin Joseph Jordan "Dev" Griffin (born 23 December 1984) is a British actor, radio presenter and DJ who is most commonly known for currently presenting the weekday early breakfast show on BBC Radio 1.
  Griffin was born on 23 December 1984 in Mill Hill, London, United Kingdom, to an Irish mother and a Jamaican father. He and his twin sister are the youngest of five siblings. He was educated at The Ravenscroft School and attended the after-school drama club at the Anna Scher Theatre School.
  In 2002, whilst studying for his A Levels at The Ravenscroft School, Griffin landed a job co-presenting the children's interactive TV show Smile (credited as DJ Devstar) alongside his childhood friend Reggie Yates and Fearne Cotton. Six months into filming, he was approached by Radio 1Xtra to present a Saturday morning show with his Smile co-presenter Reggie; the 'Reg and Dev' show was born. In 2003 Griffin left Smile to concentrate on his radio career, and soon afterwards began presenting a solo show on 1xtra on Sunday mornings.   Thomas Wesley Pentz (born November 10, 1978), better known by his stage name Diplo, is a Philadelphia-based American DJ, producer, and songwriter. Together with DJ Low Budget, he runs Hooked on Hollerphonix, a club and music collective.   After graduating from university, Nihal began an unsuccessful career as a recording artist. He was briefly a member of alternative hip-hop outfit Collapsed Lung. Nihal attempted to find fame as a rapper and worked with Fun Da Mental and Punjabi MC (in 1995), Badmarsh & Shri, Mentor, Sona Family, and DJ Sanj and has worked as a freelance music journalist, having written for Asiana, Eastern Eye, The Face, Mixmag, Hip Hop Connection,Attitude, Bear magazine, Cage And Aviary Birds and The Observer.
  After failing as an artist, in the late 1990s, Arthanayake turned to music promotion working for artists as diverse as Nitin Sawhney, Judge Jules, Mos Def, and Elton John and it was while working for the groundbreaking Asian Beats record label Outcaste Records he promoted, amongst others Badmarsh & Shri's Signs album.

  Douglas Muggeridge (1928–26 February 1985) was the controller of BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 from February 1969 until 1976.
  Muggeridge first worked as a reporter for the Liverpool Post, joining the BBC in 1956 as a radio producer. He was appointed as controller of Radio 1 & 2 in February 1969. Following on from Robin Scott, the first Controller for the two networks, Muggeridge tried to up-date the BBC's thinking on pop music radio. Although not a great pop music fan himself, he was responsible for giving both networks their individual identities and for introducing a twice-daily news magazine programme to Radio 1. Entitled 'Newsbeat' the programme still features on the network today. In 1971, he appointed Rodney Collins - known as a supporter of pirate radio through his weekly music newspaper columns - as Publicity Officer for the two networks in an attempt to gain more coverage for Radio 1 in music papers such as the NME, Melody Maker, Disc and Record Mirror. In 1971, Muggeridge signed up leading BBC broadcasters such as Tony Blackburn, Jimmy Young and Pete Murray to long-term contracts in the face of the challenge from the new local commercial radio stations. He was later the Director of Programmes and Deputy Managing Director of Radio, before becoming Managing Director of External Broadcasting in 1981, overseeing the BBC World Service.   Edith Eleanor Bowman (born 15 January 1974) is a Scottish music critic, radio DJ and television presenter. She is mostly known for hosting the weekday afternoon show and from September 2009 weekend morning on BBC Radio 1 and for presenting a variety of music related television shows and music festivals.

  Greg James (born Gregory James Alan Milward; 17 December 1985) is a British radio DJ on BBC Radio 1.
  Greg studied drama at the University of East Anglia in Norwich where he was headboy. During his three years at the university, he presented several shows on the student union radio station Livewire 1350AM, becoming the station manager in 2006. He also presented several breakfast shows on Future Radio in Norwich during their RSL's before he got his break at BBC Radio 1. During university holidays he presented stints on Galaxy North East. He is an alumnus of The Bishop's Stortford High School, where he was deputy head boy.
  On 21 September 2009 a new schedule was launched on Radio 1. Along with Fearne Cotton who moved from Weekend late-afternoons to Weekday mornings, James moved up from Early Breakfast to an Early Afternoon slot; 1pm to 4pm - replacing Edith Bowman, who moved to the weekend breakfast slot. His early breakfast show was taken over by Dev.
  It was announced on 28 February 2012 that James and Scott Mills would swap shows as of 2 April 2012. Greg James currently hosts the 'drive time' show (4-7pm) weekdays, while Mills took over the weekdays 'early afternoon' show (1-4pm).

  Huw Stephens (born 25 May 1981) is a radio presenter currently broadcasting shows on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio Cymru.
  Stephens was born in Cardiff, Wales, the son of the author and literary journalist Meic Stephens. He joined Radio 1 at the age of 17 in 1999 as part of the station's new regional output where he hosted the Wales opt-out with Bethan Elfyn and became the youngest ever Radio 1 presenter. Before this he was a DJ on Rookwood Sound Hospital Radio in Llandaff, Cardiff.
  In 2005, Stephens gained a national slot when he became one of the replacements for the late John Peel as part of the station's One Music strand, which was intended to keep the spirit of Peel's show going with DJs Rob da Bank and Ras Kwame. Stephens now broadcasts a twice-weekly slot Wednesday at 9pm and at Midnight. He also stands in for various presenters both during the day and nighttime on the station.
  Stephens is a fluent Welsh speaker and as well as on Radio 1, he is also a presenter of BBC Radio Cymru's music strand C2, on Monday evenings at 10pm. He also presented Bandit, a television show on Welsh-language channel S4C which showcased Welsh language music talent, until it was taken off the air in December 2011. He founded the "Boobytrap Singles Club", which released limited singles by Mclusky, The Keys and Zabrinski amongst others.   Jameela Jamil (born 25 February 1986) is a British television presenter and model. She has appeared on various Channel 4 programmes, and has been a presenter of T4 since 2009.

  John William Beerling (born 12 April 1937) is a veteran radio producer and station controller.
  He attended the Sir Roger Manwood's School in Sandwich, Kent.
  He began his radio career during his national service from 1955-7 when he ran a radio station for the Royal Air Force station British Forces Aden in the Aden Protectorate, acting as its station manager, studio engineer and morning DJ.
  In 1957 he joined the BBC and was one of the few employees of the BBC Light Programme in the mid-1960s to regard the model of offshore pirate radio as one for the BBC to follow.
  As a result, when the offshore stations were outlawed in 1967, Beerling was appointed to the newly-formed station BBC Radio 1 which was created as a legal alternative. This began a long association which culminated in his eight years as controller of the station from 1985 to 1993. He produced the first ever show on Radio 1 - Tony Blackburn's breakfast show on 30 September 1967 - worked his way up through the ranks, creating jingles, recruiting most of the station's DJs (one of whom was Tom Browne who presented the BBC chart from 1972 to 1978) and along the way launched the long-running and successful annual Radio 1 Roadshow events in 1973.

  Robin Scott (24 October 1920 - 7 February 2000) was a BBC controller, the launch controller of BBC Radio 1 in 1967, and of BBC2 television from 1969 to 1974.
  Born Robin Hugh Scutt, he was schooled at Bryanston and read modern languages at Cambridge University before joining the intelligence corps. He was discharged through illness in 1942, and joined the BBC. While in the French Service, he commented on major events including VE day and VJ day. During this time, he changed his name to Scott, as his French contacts found his original name difficult to say. Moving into television in the late 1950s, he produced programmes including Miss World, Come Dancing, and It's a Knockout. During this time, he wrote the song Softly Softly, a British number one hit for Ruby Murray. In 1958, he moved to the BBC Paris bureau, and was seconded to Trans-Europe Television between 1964 and 1966.
  He was appointed the Controller of the Light Programme in March 1967, and devised a format for the corporation's new popular music programme. His vision deliberately echoed the pirate radio broadcasters that would be outlawed by the Marine Broadcast Offences Act in August 1967. This pop station, BBC Radio 1, launched on 30 September 1967, with a signature tune commissioned by Scott, Theme One, recorded by George Martin. He was also Controller of BBC Radio 2, the successor to the Light Programme.

  Skream (born Oliver Dene Jones in West Wickham, Bromley, London on 1 June 1986) is a Dubstep producer based in Croydon. One of Dubstep's first and most prominent producers, he has played an important role in the genre's development. His debut album Skream! was released in 2006, and was followed up by Outside the Box in 2010. Skream is also a member of the Dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man, along with fellow producers Benga and Artwork. The group released their self-titled debut album on 8 October 2010.
  In an interview with The Independent (UK) in September 2011, Skream was quoted: "The word Dubstep is being used by a lot of people and there were a lot of people being tagged with the Dubstep brush. They don’t want to be tagged with it and shouldn’t be tagged with it – that’s not what they’re pushing ... When I say ‘UK bass’, it’s what everyone UK is associated with so it would be a lot easier if it was called that."
  As a teenager, Jones worked at Big Apple Records, a Croydon-based record store that was at the centre of the early Dubstep scene; even prior to this, Jones had become acquainted with Hatcha, another Dubstep pioneer, because Jones' brother worked on an adjacent floor in Big Apple Records.   Timothy Westwood (born 3 October 1957) is an English DJ and presenter of radio and television. He also presents the UK version of the MTV show Pimp My Ride. He is often referred to by other DJs and artists appearing on his shows simply as Westwood.
  During his career Westwood has DJed for many radio stations, including the newly formed radio stations Kiss FM (which he co-owned) and LWR in the 1980s, followed by mainstream station Capital FM (from 1987). In December 1994, following a shake up of Radio 1 by the then chief executive Matthew Bannister, he was given the new and somewhat innovative national Radio 1 Rap Show.   Trevor Nelson
  Trevor Nelson MBE (born 7 January 1964 in Hackney, London) is an English DJ and presenter.
  Born in Hackney to a family of St Lucian heritage, he attended Central Foundation Boys' Grammar School (now known as Central Foundation Boys' School) in Cowper St, Islington, London EC2 and Westminster Kingsway College. His first job was in a shoe shop, but his love of music meant a part time role as a DJ. Nelson gained day time work at a record importer in 1985, and widened his DJ experience putting on "warehouse parties" on the weekends. Nelson then worked in A&R for record labels Cooltempo and EMI, promoting artistes such as D'Angelo, Mica Paris and Lynden David Hall; while also promoting events, including his own Soul II Soul and The Lick.
  Nelson began DJing on pirate radio station Kiss from 1985, which when it gained a broadcasting license in 1990 to become Kiss FM, Nelson became a director and day time DJ. Nelson moved to BBC Radio 1 in 1996 to present the first UK national R&B show "Rhythm Nation," and a year later began a Saturday afternoon program which resulted in him winning a MOBO Award in 1997 as Best DJ. He now also presents the 10:00 until 13:00 show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and a Soul show on Wednesday evenings on BBC Radio 2 since April 2008 which is produced by independent production company Somethin' Else. During the summer season Nelson performs weekly sessions in the Global Room at the nightclub Pacha in Ibiza. Was at the KIC FM for the Launch of the station is a big fan of the station.

  Vernon Charles Kay (born 28 April 1974) is a British television presenter, radio DJ and former model. He began his television career presenting the BBC children's programme FBi, a spin-off of Fully Booked. Since then he has presented various programmes, most notably T4, Beat the Star and All Star Family Fortunes alongside his weekend show on BBC Radio 1. In 2010 he was named the host of Skating with the Stars, which was broadcast in the United States. He is married to English television presenter Tess Daly
  Kay was born and raised in Bolton, Greater Manchester, the elder son of Norman and Gladys; he has a younger brother, Stephen. He attended St Joseph's R.C. High School in Horwich, near Bolton, and then St John Rigby College in Orrell, near Wigan. He graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with an HND in Environmental Science. He supports his hometown's football club Bolton Wanderers. He used to be a regular visitor to Manchester nightclub The Haçienda.
  Kay presented the Saturday morning children's programme FBi alongside Boyzone's Keith Duffy and BBC Children's presenter Kate Heavenor. The series was shown on the BBC from 22 April until 23 September 2000 and was filmed in Glasgow.

  Zane Lowe (born Alexander Zane Reid Lowe on 7 August 1973) also known as 'Zipper', is a radio DJ and television presenter. He was born in New Zealand and grew up in Auckland, where he was a presenter on the local music station Max TV, before moving to England. He presents BBC Radio 1's evening show, where he plays a variety of alternative music, including rock, punk, dance, drum and bass, and hip hop. He was also the presenter of the MTV Rocks show Gonzo, having been a former VJ on MTV since 1997, where he presented Brand:New. Lowe currently resides in London with his wife and two sons, Jackson and Lucius. He is best known for his boundless sycophancy.
  Lowe's radio show can be heard on Mondays to Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm. Past and present features on his show have included:
  Lowe's method of DJing is rather enthusiastic and fast-paced, similar to many hip hop DJs, with samples of radio stations, interview clips and Radio 1 stings thrown in between songs, along with the occasional sound of Lowe singing along to the music.
