Mika Tan (born November 27, 1977 in Honolulu, Hawaii) is the professional name of an American fetish model (BDSM/DS/stocking and pantyhose fetish), and pornographic actress of Asian ancestry.
Background
Tan was born in Hawaii to a Japanese/Samoan father and an Okinawan/Taiwanese mother. She was adopted at age 3 by her grandmother. She also has an Associate's degree in Psychology. She did nude art modeling and was a stripper in nightclubs to support herself as a student.

Despite her aptitude for science, she did not enjoy it and worked in sales and marketing in the timeshare industry for Dennis Hof. Hof was later quoted as saying, "She is straight as an arrow; I had no idea she leaned that way; I would have approached her to work for my Moonlite Bunny Ranch back then!"
She tried her hand at acting in California, but quit after discovering that the casting couch is not a myth. She has been quoted as saying, "For the record, no adult entertainment director, producer, or crewman has ever sexually harassed me EVER. If I have to fuck for work, then I'll just fuck for work. Sure, the sex acts are documented, but at least the payoff is guaranteed in porn."
Tan appeared on the American television show ''Blind Date'' in 2006 in an episode titled "Scott and Mika/Pat and Michelle".
Adult film career
Tan was discovered at an am/pm by porn director Jack Pearl. Tan also had a third trimester miscarriage in this period, which she has described as the worst time of her life. She was married once, to Alec Knight, another performer in the adult industry. Tan had been considered the "Susan Lucci of Porn", since she was nominated many times, but did not win any AVN awards until 2006, when she finally won for ''best oral sex scene''. She then remarked, "I'm no longer the Susan Lucci of porn. What am I going to call myself now? I don't have a tagline."Tan primarily does fetish-oriented work, including work as a dominatrix and sub for the Kink.com group of companies, mostly the "Men in Pain" and "Divine Bitches" websites, where her intense performances have made her a favorite. She also stars in non-fetish oriented work. She considers herself mainly a fetish model rather than a porn star. The official biography on her website states: "For the record, I do not consider myself a porn star and any girl who has done less than 250 films shouldn't either." Though she still does hardcore sex films, she also appears in story driven features, such as "Memoirs of a Modern-Day Geisha" (2006) (VCA).
As of December 2007, Tan had done over 1,350 fetish and hardcore scenes for video and the internet. She takes orders for custom videos through her website. Fans are told to submit a script, scenario, and choice of cast. In return, she will make the custom video for a nominal fee plus production costs.
When contract star Kaylani Lei resigned as the host on the ''Me So Horny'' internet radio show on KSEX, Tan replaced her, alongside Annie Cruz. Tan left the United States in June 2007 to handle some family legal issues for several months. Shortly afterwards, the cast and crew from KSEX all moved to RUDE.TV.
Tan has now moved into production, with her debut film featuring heterosexual Asian-American men in hardcore scenes. She is semi-retired, but manages four shoot locations, works as a certified makeup artist, studies film editing and post-production marketing, and works as an independent consultant who prepares random, time-coded quality control reports for the largest adult DVD distribution company, ensuring their fetish films do not contain scenes depicting non-consensual penetration (bound rape scenarios, abductions, or other acts which may be considered obscene or illegal by United States standards).
From March 2009-November 2010, Tan worked as a legal prostitute at the Moonlite BunnyRanch brothel in Nevada.

Early life and education
Melody Damayo was born in Davao City, the second of four children born to conservative Seventh Day Adventist parents. When she was six, she moved to the United States with her parents, and she grew up in California.Damayo was sent back to Mindanao for high school, and her family enrolled her in a Seventh Day Adventist academy in remote Bukidnon province, hoping she would absorb Filipino values.
After finishing high school, she enrolled in an Adventist college, but she dropped out in her second year. She says she had been a disc jockey on the college radio station and had decided on a career in show business.
Damayo returned to Los Angeles and obtained a scholarship to the American College for Fashion Merchandising, but once again she dropped out without graduating, when she'd run out of money and begun looking for jobs.
As she was now of legal age, she began performing as a pornographic actress, starting by working with Ed Powers.
Adult film career
Damayo says she saw an advertisement for nude models and answered it. She took the name "Mimi", the childhood nickname given by her grandmother. "Miyagi" was derived from the character Mr. Miyagi in the film ''The Karate Kid''. She says she cloaked her actual nationality in Asian mysticism.In 1996, she retired from porn acting and moved to Henderson, Nevada. She married a former professional football player. She hired a consultant to set up a website, MimiMiyagi.com, then got embroiled in a legal battle over control of the domain name. She then learned HTML and created a new website.
She created the men's magazine ''Oriental Dolls'' (now known as ''Asian Hotties'').
In 1999, Damayo began doing movie production and talent scouting for Metro Home Video and produced the series she entitled ''FantAsiany'', of which there are now three sequels.
Mainstream films
Nearly bankrupted by her divorce, in September 2003, "Mimi" came out of retirement, and appeared in the adult film ''Happy Ending'' (not to be confused with ''Happy Endings'' later released by Lions Gate Entertainment).In May 2005, Damayo began work in her first bit role in a mainstream comedy, ''Come Again''.
In December 2006, "Mimi" returned to adult films with great fanfare after her failed run on the Republican ticket for Governor of Nevada.
Political career
On May 12, 2006, she filed as a Republican gubernatorial candidate in the state of Nevada, under her birth name, Melody Damayo. "''I have nothing left to hide, everybody has seen all of me already''." she said. One of her slogan was "''I'm bare and honest at all times.''" Her candidacy came three years after fellow porn star Mary Carey's campaign for Governor of California in the 2003 recall election. On May 16, 2006, her campaign was endorsed by the liberal blog Wonkette. She was criticized for running for such a position, given her past profession. She faced four other Republican candidates in the primary held on August 15, 2006, and was defeated by a wide margin by Jim Gibbons. After her loss in the primaries, she joined the Libertarian Party.
