Jessie J

Jessica Ellen Cornish (born 27 March 1988), better known by her stage name Jessie J, is an English singer and songwriter. Born and raised in London, she began her career on stage, aged 11, with a role in the West End musical Whistle Down the Wind. She studied at the BRIT School before signing with Gut Records and striking a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing where she wrote for artists including Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus.

After signing with Universal Republic, Jessie J came to prominence following the release of her debut single "Do It Like a Dude". Her next song "Price Tag" topped the charts in nineteen countries including the UK and was followed by the release of her debut album Who You Are (2011), which charted at number two in the UK. Other releases from the album included "Nobody's Perfect", and "Who You Are", "Domino" and "Laserlight", which all which all charted within the top 10 in the UK Singles Chart, making Jessie J the first British female artist to have six top ten singles from a studio album. "Domino" also resulted in further international chart success, peaking at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100 and becoming her second number-one single in the UK. In 2012 Jessie J performed at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace in June, as well as the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London on 12 August.

"Nobody's Perfect" is a song by English singer-songwriter Jessie J from her debut studio album, Who You Are. The song was written by Jessie J and Claude Kelly, and it was produced by Andre Brissett and Kelly, and refers to a struggle about perfection complex and regret over past indiscretions. It was released as the album's third single on 27 May 2011 after being served to radio stations on 20 April 2011. Its physical release was originally set to 23 May 2011, however it was pushed back to 30 May 2011 for an impact release. The single version was remixed by Tom Elmhirst and is slightly different from the album version with re-recorded vocals and a heavier beat. "Nobody's Perfect" peaked at number nine in the United Kingdom, becoming Jessie J's third top ten single. On the Voice, Jessie J and Vince Kidd sang "Nobody's Perfect" as a duet.

NoBody's Perfect is a 2008 feature documentary produced and directed by Niko von Glasow. The film won the German Film Award for Best Documentary Film at the Deutscher Filmpreis in 2009, and has gone on to receive worldwide acclaim, resulting in a powerful campaign for the victims of thalidomide.

With a darkly humorous touch and no deference to political correctness, NoBody's Perfect the film begins with the extraordinary reactions of the 12 participants towards the project itself, and subsequently explores the specific problems which they faced during childhood, adolescence through to adulthood.

Production

The film was produced by Palladio Film.

During production, von Glasow attempted, unsuccessfully, to make contact with the chemical company Gruenenthal, who produced the drug Thalidomide.

Aftermath

Following the release and German Film Award in 2009, Niko went on to meet with various politicians and journalists. An effective campaign resulted in the German government's decision to raise monthly compensation (which could amount to over €2.5billion over the next 30 years) for the victims, many of whom continue to struggle in coping with their condition.
