Icelandic Super Dam - National Geographic Megastructures
National Geographic Megastructures - Icelandic Super Dam
Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Plant is a hydroelectric power plant in eastern Iceland designed to produce 4,600 GWh annually for Alcoa's Fjardaál aluminum smelter 75 kilometres (47 mi) to the east in Reyðarfjörður. The project, named after nearby Mount Kárahnjúkur, involves damming the Jökulsá á Dal River and the Jökulsá í Fljótsdal River with five dams, creating three reservoirs. Water from the reservoirs is then diverted through 73 kilometres (45 mi) of underground water tunnels and down a 420-metre (1,380 ft) vertical penstock towards a single underground power station. The smelter became fully operational in 2008 and the hydro-power project was completed in 2009.
The Kárahnjúkastífla Dam is the centerpiece of the five dams and the largest of its type in Europe, standing 193 metres (633 ft) tall with a length of 730 metres (2,400 ft) and comprising 8.5 million cubic metres (300×106 cu ft) of material.
The project has been criticised for its environmental impact and its use of foreign workers.

Mulan (Icelandic) I'll Make a Man out of You
Mulan belongs to Disney!!!
---------------------------
Well, the translation is okay I suppose. I mean MY translation. There are things which I would like to fix a bit, but nothing of great deal. It passes for now. I'll trim this thing later :)
But for some reason I think Shang sounds very sexy in Icelandic :3 And the version is quite powerful in general. So, I think the dubbing is good. People seemed to notice the last time how much Shang rolls his r's here. Well, it isn't unusual and they roll the r's more in Disney when a villain sings or something powerful is going on, opposite of a quiet song :)

Please subscribe to there. This one will still be used for any further directly Icelandic-related videos. I've made a separate channel because I figured that most people subscribed to me for information about Icelandic, while the other one is much broader (linguistics will still be a big focus). I'm advertising it to you because there's 72 subscribers here and 3 over there. ;)
I intend to upload a few videos of Reykjavík shortly.
Thanks for watching. Remember, saying "ha?" to a stranger's face is NOT rude here.

Iceland, Eyjafjallajökull - May 1st and 2nd, 2010
So I saw all of these pictures of that volcano in Iceland nobody can pronounce the name of, so I figured I should go and do something that is not news footage but something more cinematic. But the flights to get over took forever as expected (somewhat). 4 days after leaving I finally made it, but the weather was terrible for another 4. Just before leaving it got pretty good for about a day and a half and this is what I managed to get.
Wish I had more time. I missed all the cool Lightning and the Lava of the first eruption. But I figure this will just be a trial run for another day.
I am of course accepting sponsors to send me back there for more please...!! haha

Midnight Sun | Iceland
BEST VIEWED IN HD AND FULLSCREEN (with scaling off)
Midnight Sun: A natural phenomenon occurring in the summer months north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle where the sun never fully sets and remains visible 24 hours a day.
This short time lapse film was shot during the Icelandic Midnight Sun in June of 2011.
For 17 days I travelled solo around the entire island shooting almost 24 hours, sleeping in the car, and eating whenever I had the time. During my days shooting this film I shot 38,000 images, travelled some 2900 miles, and saw some of the most amazing, beautiful, and indescribable landscapes on the planet. Iceland is absolutely one of the most beautiful and unusual places you could ever imagine. Especially during the Midnight Sun when the quality of light hitting the landscape is very unusual, and very spectacular.
Iceland is a landscape photographers paradise and playground, and should be number 1 on every photographers must visit list. Iceland during the Midnight Sun is in sort of a permanent state of sunset. The sun never full sets and travels horizontally across the horizon throughout the night, as can be seen in the opening shot and at the :51 second mark in the video.
During the Arctic summer, sunset was at midnight and sunrise was at 3am. The Arctic summer sun provided 24 hours a day of light, with as much as 6 hours daily of "Golden light". Once the sun had set it wouldn't even get dark enough for the stars to come out, and they don't start to reappear until August.
My advice to everyone out there, photographer or not, is simple... You MUST visit Iceland sometime during your lifetime. You will never regret it.

A Tribute to the Icelandic dubbings- Personal Ranking of NON/Disney Princesses
hey you guys, this is my Icelandic tribute video! making this one was so much fun because i think their dubbings are very good and i just love this language. this time you can expect for two heroines that are not Disney's, including for the first time in my ranking!
***about the singer Vigdís Hrefna Pálsdóttir, there is not a written proof she's also the voice of Cinderella, but i'm pretty sure it's her. if not, she'd be located after SW.
ohh, you guys, do you remember the "Suzuki" from the Japanese voices? well, in Icelandic, almost every last name here, ends with "dóttir" lol...., but "illusionndream" just decoded the reason: in Iceland, if you are a female your last name is: *Fathers name (or mother's ?)+ dóttir (daughter)* if you are a male your last name is *Father's name + son (son)!
next in line: Swedish

Icelandic Gambit
The Icelandic Gambit is a very aggressive opening from black in the Scandinavian Defense. Black gives up a pawn in material for a big lead in development. White spends the game looking for a way to defend his king while black looks to employ many traps and swarm his opponent.
