Religious Education (R.E.) in UK secondary schools is in jeopardy as a result of the coalition government's recent plans. Premier believes that R.E. is an important element in promoting social cohesion in society and that Religious Education needs to be included in the Baccalaureate qualifications.

Religious Education Stops Potential Extreme Conflict... Teach!
This video is putting emphasis on the importance of religious education in our lives. If we all learn how to live with each other and respect each other despite our different religions we can stop a lot of religiously motivated conflict. The death toll of religious conflict is unknown, and we can not even begin to imagine the number of lives lost. Isn't it time we all learned that violence does not solve anything but only leads to more? I apologize if this video offends anyone's religious beliefs as that is not my intention. This video is trying to get us all to learn about other religions so we can respect our differences. We can see where another person is coming from when they say something we do not understand. Try make the world a better place by teaching and learning about different religions. It's one of the few ways we can try stop the violence and the hatred. No Copyright infringement intended.

Theology and Religious Studies
Religion is central to world history, society and human life. This degree explores the varied ways humans have expressed their religious convictions, and how the search for meaning has impacted thought and culture throughout history.
In Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge, you can either concentrate on Christianity or incorporate a range of religious traditions. The course caters for numerous interests -- biblical, historical, philosophical and comparative, as well as a mixture of any or all of these. You don't have to be religious to study this degree: our students belong to all religious traditions and none.
To find out more about Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge, see http://www.study.cam.ac.uk/undergraduate/courses/theology/.
Some of the students who appear in our course films are also featured in the 60 Second Impressions series, which can be found at http://www.cam.ac.uk/60seconds/ - keep checking back as we'll be adding new films every couple of weeks!

November 29, 2012 | The four recipients of the 2012 Education and Social Justice Fellowship reflected on their research findings and experiences abroad during this past summer and answered questions from interested applicants for the upcoming year.
Shea Houlihan traveled to Uganda to investigate the role of education in post-conflict reconstruction. Shea Houlihan is a senior in the School of Foreign Service majoring in International Politics. A 2013 Marshall Scholar, Shea is a researcher who investigates emerging topics in refugee and forced migration studies. During the 2011-2012 academic year, Shea studied at St. Peter's College, University of Oxford, where he rowed. After working at Georgetown's Institute for the Study of International Migration and Oxford's Refugee Studies Centre, Shea went into the field to test the new concepts of 'survival' or 'crisis' migration in Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia in 2012. He will continue to conceive of and act on new ways of extending international protection to forced migrants based in part on the vital interests of states.

Calls for religious education spark controversy in Bulgaria
The summer-break is over but instead of playing video games or going on long trips- like most Bulgarian kids do- Muslim pupils had devoted their vacation to something less "fashionable", but more meaningful in their view: Quran courses.
