Christinna Pedersen (born May 12, 1986) is an internationally elite badminton player from Ålborg, Denmark.^[1]

Christinna Pedersen is a right-handed Doubles specialist who has gained the most amount of success in Mixed Doubles. Pairing with Joachim Fischer Nielsen she reached the semifinals of the 2009 Hyderabad World Championships and earned the Bronze medal. They had less success at the following world championships, but have continued to achieve strong results on the BWF Super Series circuit.

In Women's Doubles Pedersen has paired with Kamilla Rytter Juhl, although both athletes focus on competing with their respective partners in Mixed Doubles.

She currently lives in Copenhagen where she trains with the national team.^[2]

Li Ning (Simplified Chinese: 李宁; Traditional Chinese: 李寧; Pinyin: Lǐ Níng; born March 10, 1963 in Laibin, Guangxi) is a well-known Chinese gymnast and entrepreneur. He was born in an ethnic Zhuang family.

Gymnastics career[link]

Li started training at the age of eight and he was selected into the national team in 1980. In 1982, he won six of the seven medals awarded at the Sixth World Cup Gymnastic Competition, earning him the title "Prince of gymnastics" (体操王子/體操王子).

Li is most famous for winning 6 medals at the 1984 Summer Olympics, which was the first Olympics in which the People's Republic of China participated. He won 3 gold medals (in floor exercise, pommel horse, and rings), 2 silver medals, and a bronze medal. Li became the most decorated Chinese athlete at their first Olympics.

All in all Li won 14 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships titles.

Li took part in his second 1988 Olympics despite carrying injuries. It was a disappointing end to an illustrious career, as he was clearly off-form and made many mistakes which robbed him of the chance of a medal.

Post-gymnastics life[link]

Li retired from sporting competition in 1988, and in 1990 he founded Li-Ning Company Limited, which sells footwear and sporting apparel in China. Li remains chairman of the company's board of directors.

Li was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2000, becoming the first Chinese inductee.^[1]

At the 2008 Summer Olympics Li Ning ignited the cauldron at the opening ceremony after being hoisted high into the air with cables and miming running around the high portion of the stadium.^[2][3][4]

Zhao Yunlei (born August 25, 1986) is a women's and mixed doubles badminton player from China.

Career[link]

Zhao played with Tian Qing in the women's doubles and with Zhang Nan in the mixed doubles. Currently, she and Zhang Nan are ranked world number one. She had been Cheng Shu's women's doubles partner before pairing with Tian Qing.

2010

Zhao and Tian won 2010 Asian Games gold medal after vanquishing compatriots Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang 22–20, 21–15, and 21–12. Zhao also participated in China's women's team which gain a gold medal too.

2011

In January, Zhao and Zhang won VICTOR-BWF Super Series Finals in Taiwan after defeating Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thungthongkam of Thailand 21–17, 21–12 in the final.

Two weeks later, they triumphed at Seoul by winning Korea Open Super Series Premier. In the final, they conquered compatriots Tao Jiaming and Tian Qing.

Zhao and Tian reached the women's doubles final but lost to Yu Yang and Ma Jin.

In October, Zhao Yunlei and Zhang Nan reached Denmark Open Super Series Premier's semi-final but they lost to Denmark's Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen 12–21, 21–14, and 20–22.
