John Cunningham Lilly (January 6, 1915 – September 30, 2001) was an American physician, neuroscientist, psychoanalyst, psychonaut, philosopher, writer and inventor.
He was a researcher of the nature of consciousness using mainly isolation tanks, dolphin communication, and psychedelic drugs, sometimes in combination.
John Lilly was born to a wealthy family on January 6, 1915, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. His father was Richard Coyle Lilly, president of the First National Bank of St. Paul. His mother was Rachel Lenor Cunningham, whose family owned the Cunninham & Haas Company, a large stockyards company in St. Paul. Lilly had an older brother, Richard Lilly Jr., and a younger brother, David Maher Lilly. A fourth child, Mary Catherine Lilly, died in infancy.
Lilly showed an interest in science at an early age. At thirteen years old, he was an avid chemistry hobbyist, supplementing his makeshift basement laboratory with chemicals given to him by a pharmacist friend. Students at his parochial Catholic grade school referred to him as "Einstein Jr." At age 14 he enrolled at St. Paul Academy, a college preparatory academy for boys, where his teachers encouraged him to pursue science further and conduct his own experiments in the school laboratory after hours.
Robin Schulz (born 28 April 1987) is a German DJ and producer. Most of his songs make use of electric guitar riffs. On 4 February, 2014, he released the first single from his debut album, a remix of "Waves" by Dutch hip hop artist Mr Probz. This remix later received a nomination for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. His follow-up single, released 6 June, 2014, was a remix of the Lilly Wood and the Prick track "Prayer in C" from their 2010 album Invincible Friends. Both remixes have charted in many European countries and the United States, leading to international recognition for Schulz. He co-founded Lausbuben Records with Daniel Bruns and Christopher Noble. His references in electronic music are Todd Terry, Armand Van Helden, Roger Sanchez, Tiësto and the Epic Sax Guy.

Here, we discuss scientist John C. Lilly, best known for inventing the Float Tank and his work with dolphin communication. The subject of this documentary however concerns his most controversial idea -- the so called "Solid State Entity." According to Lilly, the SSE is an extra-terrestrial artificial intelligence whose goal is to spread by making copies of itself. It does so by influencing societies to surrender more and more control to machines until it creates an A.I. that can take over the planet. The documentary is broken into 4 parts: 00:00 - Introduction 03:09 - Chapter 1: The Solid State Entity 10:18 - Chapter 2: The End of Consciousness 12:53 - Chapter 3: Building a New God You can read the original article this documentary was based on here: http://seankerrigan.com/john-c-lil...

So, after making my last videos regarding Joe Rogan, float tanks, DMT etc, and listening to his satanist friend Duncan Trussell mention John C. Lilly, I decided to look into Lilly more. Wouldn't you know it, John C. Lilly invented the float tank, and talked about his interfacing with inter-dimensional aliens, which he called Echo.. He also apparently interfaced with another race of inter-dimensional aliens he called the "Solid State Entity" or SSE.. The more I read about this solid state entity, and the more I realized he popularized float tank use with extreme hallucinogens, and communicating with these intra/extra dimensional "alien" beings, the more I realized this is exactly where the Wachowski brothers (at that point in time) ripped off the Matrix idea from.. or based it off of. ...

NOTE: This is an excerpt from the full 90-minute DVD. http://www.thinkingallowed.com/2jlilly.html John Lilly reveals a lifelong pattern of deep inner exploration, beginning with his psychoanalysis in the 1940s, his development of the sensory isolation tank in the 1950s, his dolphin communication research in the 1960s and his experiments with psychoactive drugs through the 1980s. He describes telepathic communication with cetaceans and his own experiences of telepathic contact with extraterrestrials (which he now says were illusory). Dr. Lilly suggests that within the province of the mind every limit is a belief system to be tested and transcended. He warns, however, that while there are no absolute limits in the province of the mind there are real and definite limits in the provin...

Let's take a little journey back to the year 2000, Maui, Hawaii. It was quite the occasion, psychonaut and dolphin researcher John C. Lilly's second to last birthday on this planet. Not only were we celebrating John's 85th birthday, but his friend Robert Watt's wedding reception, a British film producer who is best known for his involvement with the Star Wars and Indiana Jones film series. Many of the Hawaii and California's cosmic tribe were there for the celebrations. It was also a time when we were creating a pre-Youtube net show called, "Fringe News." whose tag line was "Think About It." Please enjoy For the Love of Dolphins, featuring Dr. John C. Lilly and Ed Ellsworth. I worked as the research consultant for this project with Patricia Sims, the producer of the show. This program originally aired on the Discovery Channel. In the film, I was interviewed regarding my work as a dolphin researcher with Dr. John C. Lilly and the Human/Dolphin Foundation. I took our team to the various locations and researchers included in the program. - Ed Ellsworth

On May 15, 2014 the re-release of Dr. John Lilly's book Programming and Metaprogramming in the Human Biocomputer happened! The Float On tribe out of Portland, OR did a cross-continent book tour in a successful attempt to generate interest and awareness for the books launch. In this talk Graham Talley of Float on delivers a great talk about the book and the behind the book bringing John Lilly to an entire new audience. The talk is followed by some general Q and A about the book, the man and floating in general. Enjoy!
Hosts Tmothy Green Beckley and Emmy Winner Tim Swartz interview filmmaker David Strabala about his documentary on Synchronicity. Joining in the discussion is long-time Robert Anton Wilson cohort, Adam Gorightly. . . Are synchronicities mere cosmic coincidences, or is there something even weirder going on? Adam brings in the experiences of Philip K. Dick, John C. Lilly and RAW to show that there is a "controlling factor." Mr Synchronicity Tim Beckley thinks we are - to quote Charles Fort -- like pieces on a chess board. Beckley's experiences along this line are in a class by themselves. You can hear about the mysterious license plate, why there might be certain "cosmic centers" that trigger such events. this is NOT a boring program. We are hip, with it and positively NOT CRAZY!
I know what you're thinking. Why did you play through this if you didn't enjoy it all that much and was traumatized by it??? My answer....I'm attracted to this sort of shit. I tried to play through it recently and while segments are annoying as all hell, there's a certain charm it to. I can't really explain it, it's a mysterious feeling I really like and the story gets me with the time traveling, going back 55 million years in the past where dolphins didn't even exist yet, repairing the oldest life form on Earth "Asterite", finding out about the Vortex aliens and so on. And not to mention the horrors that await you if you manage to get far to the end! I'm kind of addicted to Ecco now, I think I will play the other games in the series. Am I trying to make people a believer of Ecco? No. But ...
Now in this book there are a lot of stories about talking animals: talking snakes, and birds, and fish; and about people who try to communicate with them.
John Lilly, the guy who says he can talk to dolphins, said he was in an aquarium and he was talking to a big whale who was swimming around and around in his tank. And the whale kept asking him questions telepathically. And one of the questions the whale kept asking was: do all oceans have walls?
