China vs Vietnam: Ancient Naval Battle At Bach Dang River - The Defeat Of The Chinese Navy in 938 AD
At the Battle of Bach Dang River in 938 AD the Vietnamese forces, led by Ngo Quyen, defeated the invading forces of the Southern Han state of China and put an end to centuries of Chinese imperial domination in Vietnam. It took place at the Bach Dang River, near Halong Bay in northern Vietnam. In 937, Liu Yan (Chinese: 劉龑; Vietnamese: Lưu Nham), the Southern Han ruler, took the chance to intervene in Vietnam again after the death of the Annam Lord Protector Duong Dinh Nghe. He had been foiled by Duong Dinh Nghe in 931, but now that Duong Dinh Nghe was dead, he thought the time was ripe for another attempt. He placed his own son, Liu Hongcao (Chinese: 劉弘操; Vietnamese: Lưu Hoằng Tháo), in command of the expedition, naming him "Peaceful Sea Military Governor" and "King of Giao." He hastily assembled an army at Sea Gate, where he personally took charge of the reserve force.[citation needed] He ordered Liu Hongcao to embark the army and sail to Giao. By the time Liu Hongcao arrived in Vietnamese waters with the Southern Han expedition, Liu Hongcao's plan was to ascend the Bach Dang River (白藤江) and to place his army in the heart of Giao Chau before disembarking; the Bach Dang was the major riverine route into the Red River plain from the north. Ngo Quyen anticipated this plan and brought his army to the mouth of the river. He had his men plant a barrier of large poles in the bed of the river. The tops of the poles reached just below the water level at high tide and were ...

Artificial Floating Island 'Viva' on Han River in Seoul
samsung HMX-H106 February 5, 2010 *The first half of this video was recorded by time-lapse function of HMX-H106. 한강 위 인공섬인 플로팅 아일랜드 비바의 진수 준비 작업 A giant steel float that will be part of a "floating island" in Seoul boasting off-shore entertainment facilities began a snails-paced trip towards the city's Han River Saturday. The football-field-sized structure, resembling the hull of a cargo ship, moved at a barely noticeable speed over rows of giant rubber airbags from a riverside assembly site to the water just 60 metres (198 feet) away. Linked by huge iron chains to giant winches, the buoy weighing 2000 tonnes was not due to reach the water until Sunday. The three-metre high float, 85 metres long and 49 metres wide, will be part of Viva, one of three artificial islets to be built near the southern end of Banpo Bridge. Along with two other artificial islets, Vista and Tera, to be launched by the end of April, the cluster of man-made floating islets will be used for conventions, water sports, restaurants, performances and exhibitions. The project will be completed and open to the public in August. "We hope that the floating island will serve as Seoul's new landmark," a Seoul city government spokeswoman said.

Road Trip to Southern Motorsports Club Gymkhana, Songkhla, Thailand
This is the video of a road trip we made from Malaysia to Songkhla in the South of Thailand on the 3rd and 4th April 2010 to participate in the Southern Motorsports Club Gymkhana Competition. The What's Good? Subaru Impreza driven by BadBoyBen was one of the 4 cars from Malaysia that went. There were well over 100 cars competing and more than 3000 spectators for this 2-day event at the Songkhla Aquarium. We had an amazing time and we hope this video manages to show you some of the cool stuff we saw/experienced. The Southern Motorsports Club organizes many autocross/gymkhana events every year so if you are ever planning on visiting the South of Thailand make sure you coincide your trip with one of their events! Kon-Tiki - VFX breakdowns
This year's most anticipated Norwegian film Kon-Tiki has now been released, and Storm Studios is proud to be part of the adventure. Along with directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning we created images of a 1946 New York. This was achieved by using a combination of footage from the set in Bulgaria, Matte Paintings, actors shot on green screen, CG cars and CG smoke.
Storm Studios has also replaced much of the pacific ocean with digital simulated water - one of the most challenging tasks in visual effects. Effects Supervisor Magnus Pettersson worked several months on developing the water pipeline. According to Magnus one of the most challenging tasks was to handle all the data that the water simulations created. Each version produced 1TB of data that needed to be processed and rendered. When our simulation machine with 96GB of RAM ran out of memory, we knew we were in for a treat.
We are very excited about our raging seas in broad daylight for the film's big climax, and Mode Steinkjer from Dagsavisen Newspaper says "the special effects are impressive, whether they represent the actual events or contribute to the metaphysical buildup of the crew's psychological state of mind".
The critics and directors say it all:
"We are delighted by the scenography and the staging. All of the technique and craftsmanship is a true pleasure to behold. In terms of film rhetoric this movie totally flows". Aftenposten Newspaper, Per Haddal
"Rønning and Sandberg have burned trough 93 million Norwegian kroner on this nautical voyage - they luckily ditched filming in or converting to 3D and saved 40 mill. In return 150 people worked on the special effects which is found in about a third of the movie, yet weave seamlessly into the clear southern pacific colors". Dagbladet Newspaper, Mikael Godø
"A lot of people worked on this film for over a year, and we would not have been able to make it had they charged full price. We're talking about people who have a passion for what they do - and you can guarantee that when the film releases this will get noticed even outside Norway!". VG Newspaper, Joachim Rønning.

As a consequence of an extra doses of motivation plus a big feeling of uncertainty, Slabbing mag is born, a new project full of illusion which main aim is showing the best part of Bodyboard.
All footage by Conde Ripoll, editor-in-chief of the magazine; except the second clip which has been taken by Eric Gamez.
And, as expected, you will see in the mag a nice report of the trip to this place in Southern Pacific and many other contents…

JOOK LUM SOUTHERN PRAYING MANTIS KUNGFU - 1954
This "Wong Fei Hong and the Jook Lum Temple" movie was produced in 1954, Hong Kong, not 1956. The producer was Zheng Guang Hai, who was a student of Wong Yook Gong's Kwongsai Mantis in Pingshan Town. The tall main Mantis actor is Zheng Zhen Hua who was a Chu Gar Mantis student of Chu Kwong Hua, successor to Lao Sui (www.chugarmantis.com) whose successor is Cheng Wan Sifu aged 85 in 2009. Chu Gar Actor Zhen Hua later became a grandstudent of Kwongsai Mantis under Wong Yook Gong. Although, the movie calls and shows the banners of Kwongsai Mantis, the actors were Chu Gar. TEDxTokyo - Hans Reitz - 05/15/10 - English
Social Business Advocate and Serial Entrepreneur Hans Reitz shares a vision with 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus: a planet utterly without poverty. In 2008, the two established the Grameen Creative Lab to spread Prof. Yunuss social business model, which tackles social issues by combining business know-how with the desire to better the quality of life. Hans saw poverty firsthand during seven years of living close to the bone in Southern India. In 1992, he became a partner in Natural Shakti, a company that cultivates coffee and spices in Kumily and Kerala, India. Two years later, he opened an event and creative communication agency called circ, which was named Germanys top creative agency in 2007. Hans also co-founded the café chain Perfect Day in 2004, selling coffee made from pure natural beans as part of an avowed mission to transform the coffee industry's growing practices. tedxtokyo.com AboutTEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
