Smash (The Offspring album)

Smash is the third studio album by American punk rock band The Offspring. After touring in support of their previous album, Ignition (1992), The Offspring began recording Smash in October 1993 at Track Record in North Hollywood, California. Recording and production were finished two months later, and the album was released on April 8, 1994 on Epitaph Records.

In the United States, Smash has sold over six million copies and has been certified 6x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Peaking at number four on the US Billboard 200, it has sold over 11 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling independent label album of all time. It was also the first album released on Epitaph Records to obtain gold and platinum status.Smash was The Offspring's introduction into worldwide popularity and critical acclaim, and produced a number of hit singles including the hugely successful "Come Out and Play", "Self Esteem" and "Gotta Get Away" singles. Alongside Bad Religion's Stranger than Fiction, Green Day's Dookie, NOFX's Punk In Drublic and Rancid's ...And Out Come the Wolves, Smash was responsible for bringing punk rock into the mainstream, and helped define the sound of the emerging pop punk scene in the 1990s. As a fan-favorite, the album received generally positive reviews from critics and garnered attention from major labels, including Columbia Records, with whom The Offspring would sign in 1996. Smash is the only release where the band was referred to as "Offspring".

Dosage (album)

Dosage is the fourth studio album by the American alternative rock band Collective Soul. The album was released on Atlantic Records in February 1999 and peaked at #21 on the Billboard albums chart. The album's title was derived from a catchphrase they used to describe burnout after their previous tour.

The first single from the album, "Heavy", gave the band another #1 hit on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and spent a then record-breaking 15 weeks on the top spot. "Heavy" was also featured in the opening of the video game NHL 2001 and in the 2014 Golden Corral ad. The second single released, "Run", also gained broad mainstream radioplay and was featured on the soundtrack for the 1999 film Varsity Blues.

Over nine years after the album's release, the single "Tremble for My Beloved" was featured in the 2008 film Twilight and its accompanying soundtrack.

In 2012, the band performed the album in its entirety (save "Dandy Life") during their Dosage Tour.

Recording

Dosage marked a change in recording and style for Collective Soul. Unhappy with the production and sound of the previous album Disciplined Breakdown, the band focused more on production and technique for the recording of Dosage. The result led to an arduous six-month recording period where according to guitarist Dean Roland: "The way we recorded Dosage, we were really meticulous about everything that we did for that record." More than before the band progressed to a high production pop-rock sound. This status was obvious with the extensive use of loops, Pro Tools effects, and synth-pop sounds, especially in comparison with the band's previous three albums which are more organic and raw in sound.

CKSS-FM is a Canadian radio station in Parkland County, Alberta, Canada broadcasting a country format on 88.1MHz/FM as 88-1 The One. CKSS is owned and operated by Mark Tamagi and Blackgold Broadcasting Inc. The station is one of three Country music stations in the area, the others being CISN Country 103.9, and 93.1 The One.

After 6 years of hard work, the vision of Blackgold Broadcasting to bring Parkland County its FIRST radio station is about to become reality. Since receiving approval from the CRTC today, the wheels have been turning exceptionally fast. 88.1 THE ONE will serve the Town of Stony Plain and City of Spruce Grove and the hundreds of farms and acreages in Parkland County.

The One...

The One... is a comedic sketch television series starring Jasper Carrott, Lenny Henry, Griff Rhys Jones, and Ronnie Corbett. It was devised by Matt Lucas, David Walliams and Geoff Posner for Little Britain Productions, although Walliams departed the project by the time of the full series.

In the one-off 2010 Christmas special, Ronnie Corbett returned to BBC One to celebrate his 80th birthday. In 2011, it was confirmed that more new episodes were to be produced for broadcast in early 2012.

A full series, containing three episodes, was broadcast from 6 January 2012 to 16 January 2012. Extended 40 minute versions of the episodes were also broadcast after the original 30 minute edit was shown.

The One Ronnie (2010)

The One Ronnie was a one-off comedy television sketch show that aired on BBC One on Christmas Day 2010 to celebrate the 80th birthday of Ronnie Corbett. It featured sketches between Corbett and Lionel Blair, Rob Brydon, James Corden, Jon Culshaw, Harry Enfield, Jocelyn Jee Esien, Miranda Hart, Robert Lindsay, Matt Lucas, Catherine Tate, David Walliams, and Richard Wilson. Charlotte Church also appeared as herself. The title was a reference to Corbett's long-running sketch show The Two Ronnies which also featured Ronnie Barker, who died in 2005. The One Ronnie was released onto DVD exclusively on 24 September 2012 in The Two Ronnies Complete Collection box set as an exclusive bonus extra.

If You're Not the One

"If You're Not the One" is a song by English recording artist Daniel Bedingfield. It was released on 22 November 2002 as the third single from his debut studio album Gotta Get Thru This (2002).

The single entered the top 20 on the majority of charts that it appeared on, including being a number-one hit in the UK Singles Chart, and reaching number 15 in the United States.

Background and writing

"If You're Not the One" is written as a love ballad. Bedingfield claims to have been inspired by the band Westlife, when writing and recording the song. Bedingfield himself believes that the song is "cheesy." Bedingfield admitted he began writing the song because he realized that material he considered more "complex", was unlikely to get him a record deal. "Commercialism, sappy lyrics and meek tunes are the things I hate most in the universe, but I'm not sure even Bob Dylan could get record company interest without hooks these days", Bedingfield recalled in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. "It's a different age. You need to go some kind of populist route. So, about three years ago, I sat down with a Westlife song and tried to write something similar."
