I wanna be Loved
By Andrews Sisters
Oooo-ooooh
Oooo-ooooh
I wanna be loved,
(oooh)
With inspiration!
(oooh)
I wanna be loved,
Starting tonight!
(oooh)
Instead of merely
(oooh)
Holding conversation,
(oooh)
Hold me tight!
I wanna be kissed,
(aaaah)
Until I tingle!
(aaaah)
I wanna be kissed,
(aaaah)
Starting tonight!
(aaaah)
Embrace until
our heartbeats intermingle,
Wrong or right!
I feel like acting my age!
I’m passed the stage of merely turtle-doving!
(Be careful! Be careful what you do!)
I’m in no mood to resist,
And I insist the world owes me a loving!
(oooh)
I wanna be thrilled
(oooh)
To desperation!
(oooh)
I wanna be thrilled,
(oooh)
starting tonight!
(Love me! Love me! Love me!)
With every kind of wonderful sensation!
I wanna be loved!
(aaaah)
I feel like acting my age!
I’m passed the stage of merely turtle-doving!
I’m in no mood to resist,
And I insist the world owes me a loving!
I wanna be thrilled to desperation!
(I wanna be thrilled!I wanna be thrilled!)
I wanna be thrilled, starting tonight!
(I wanna be thrilled tonight!)
With every kind of wonderful sensation,
I love you much too much
I’ve known it from the start
But yet my love is such
I can’t control my heart
I love you much too much
I ask myself what for
Then, darling, when we touch
Mmmm, I love you more
Perhaps I hold your heart too tightly
But who am I to say
If I should hold it lightly
It might slip away
I love you much too much
You’ve never really known
I love you oh so much
I’m yours alone
Perhaps I hold your heart too tightly
But who am I to say
If I should hold it lightly
It might slip away
I love you much too much
You’ve never really known, oh no, oh no, you've never known
I love you much too much, too much, I'm yours alone
I can see
No matter how near you'll be
You'll never belong to me
But I can dream, can't I
Can't I pretend
That I'm locked in the bend of your embrace
For dreams are just like wine
And I am drunk with mine
I'm aware
My heart is a sad affair
There's much disillusion there
But I can dream, can't I
Can't I adore you
Although we are oceans apart
I can't make you open your heart
But I can dream, can't I
I'm aware
My heart is a sad affair
There's much disillusion there
But I can dream, can't I
Can't I adore you
Although we are oceans apart
I can't make you open your heart
But I can dream, can't I
(Dream on, dream on, dream on)
Down by the Ohio
I've got the cutest, sweetest, oh my oh
He's just a country boy who works around farms
But he has his charms
And jumpin' jeepin' creepers when I'm in his arms
I get the oh my oh
He is the only one who ever thrilled me so
He knows his chickens & his cabbages too
But where the dickens did he learn to
He's got that oh my oh
Just wait til I get back to Ohio
You may think you've seen
The hovers on the screen
They're just very ordinary
By that I mean
Those heart breakers
Haven't a chance
With my new romance
Down by the old Ohio
That's where I found him
I got the cutest oh my oh
He's the sweetest country boy who works around farms
Yes but he has charm
For jumpin' jeepin' creepers when I'm in his arms
I get so oh my oh, oh my, oh mi, oh my
He is the only that ever, ever thrilled me so
He knows his chickens & his cabbages too
But where the dickens did he learn to
He's got that oh my oh
Just wait til I get back to Ohio
I get so oh my oh
He is the only who ever thrilled me so
He knows his chickens & his cabbages too
But where the dickens did he learn to
He's got that oh my oh, oh my, oh my
Don't cry, oh honey please don't be that way
Clouds in the sky should never make you feel that way
The rain will bring the violets of May
Tears are in vain, so honey please don't be that way
As long as we see it through
You'll have me I'll have you
Sweetheart, tomorrow is another day
Don't break my heart, oh honey, please don't be that way
(Muzikaal Intermezzo)
As long as we see it through
You'll have me I'll have you
Sweetheart, tomorrow is another day
Don't break my heart, oh honey, please don't be that way
Sweetheart, tomorrow is another day
Cuanto Le Gusta - Andrews Sisters w/ Carmen Miranda
Cuanto la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta
Cuanto la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta
We gotta get goin', where are we goin', what are we gonna do?
We're on our way to somewhere, the three of us and you
What'll we see there, who will be there, what'll be the big surprise?
There may be caballeros with dark and flashing eyes
We're on our way (we're on our way)
Pack up your pack (pack up your pack)
And if we stay (and if we stay)
We won't come back (we won't come back)
How can we go, we haven't got a dime?
But we're goin' and we're gonna have a happy time
Cuanto la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta
Cuanto la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta
Now someone said they'd just come back from somewhere
A friend of mine that I don't even know
He said there's lots of fun if we can get there
If that's the case, that's the place, the place we want to go
We gotta get goin', where we're goin', what are we gonna do?
We're on our way to somewhere, the three of us and you
What'll we see there, who will be there, what'll be the big surprise?
There may be caballeros with dark and flashing eyes
I'll take the train (I'll take the train)
You take a boat (well I take the boat)
I'll take a plane (I'll take the plane)
You ride the goat (well I ride the goat)
Oh, we don't care, we'll either walk or climb
But we'll get there and we're gonna have a happy time
Cuanto la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta
Cuanto la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta, la gusta
Someone said he just came back from somewhere
And picked a few petunias in the snow
He told me that it's very close to nowhere
If that's the case, that's the place, the place we want to go
------ instrumental break ------
We gotta get goin', where we're goin', what are we gonna see?
We're off to see somebody who's on his way to me
Gonna go my way, you go your way, wanna make a little bet?
We'll all meet in the country, they haven't found us yet
We're on our way (we're on our way)
Pack up your pack (pack up your pack)
And if we stay (and if we stay)
We won't come back (we won't come back)
How can we go, we haven't got a dime?
But we're goin' and we're gonna have a happy time
Yes, we're goin' and we're gonna have a happy, happy, happy, happy, happy

One night when the moon was so mellow,
Rosita met young manuelo.
He held her like this,
This lovely miss.
Then stole a kiss
This fellow.
He said he was glad he'd met her
And soon he would come and get her.
But she said "no no i cannot go
Until i know you better".

It came to be that he and she
There were three little sisters
Three little sisters
And each one only in her teens
One loved a soldier
One loved a sailor
And one loved a lad from the marines
For the three little sister
They were the fairest
From Iceland to the Philippines
So said the soldier
So said the sailor
And so said the lad from the marines
And when the boys marched away
The girls said they`d be true until
The boys came back someday
Now the three little sisters
Three little sisters
Stay home and read their magazines
You can tell it to the soldier
Tell it to the sailor
And tell it to the marine
(scat singing)
Three little sisters
Two little sisters of mine
And each one`s only in her teens (ah-h-h-h)
One loved a soldier
One loved a sailor boy
I loved the man from the marines
Oh, my two little sisters
They were the fairest of all
From Iceland right to the Philippines (ah-h-h-h)
So said the soldier
So said the sailor boy
So said the guy from the marines
And when the boys marched away
The girls said they`d be true until
The boys marched back someday
Now, the three little sisters
The three little sisters
Stay home, home and read their magazines
You can tell it to the soldier
Tell it to the sailor
He's up each morning bright and early
To wake up all the neighborhood
To bring to ev'ry boy and girlie
His happy serenade on wood
Hear him pickin' out a melody
Peck, peck, peckin' at the same old tree
He's as happy as a bumble bee
All day long
To serenade your lady
Just find a tree that's shady
And when you hear that tick-a-tick-tick, tick-a-tick-tick
Sing right along
Come on and try his rhythm
And let your hearts beat with 'im
Just listen to that tick-a-tick-tick, tick-a-tick-tick
"Fall in love, fall in love", says my heart
"It's romance, take a chance", says my heart
But each time that I'm almost in your arms
This old school teacher brain of mine
Keeps ringing in false alarms
Then my head rules instead and I'm wise
To the scheme of that gleam in your eyes
So I kiss and run but the moment we're apart
"Oh, you fool, that was love", says my heart
Says my heart, it says for me to fall in love, my heart
It also says for me to take a chance, take a chance
Oh my heart, it speaks to the rhythm of the beat
"Don't be a fool", it says to me
Each time I'm in your arms
This heart of mine rings false alarms
"Fall in love, fall in love", says my heart
"Honey, it's romance, take a chance", says my heart
But each time that I'm almost in your arms
This old school teacher brain of mine
Keeps ringing in false alarms
Then my head rules me instead
So I kiss and then I run away
I'll come back some other day
"Oh, you fool, that was love", says my heart
Now that I am in love, I know you love me
That I should have my heart to answer for me
And it will say to me to fall, to fall in love with you
In Spain they say "Si, Si"
In France you'll hear "Oui, Oui"
Ev'ry little Dutch girl says "Ya, Ya"
Ev'ry little Russian says "Da, Da"
But, Sweetheart, tell me why
No matter how I try
You won't listen to my plea
Won't say "Yes" in any language to me
When will you say "Si, Si"
"Si, Si", "Si, Si"
"Si, Si", "Si, Si"
Ev'ry little Dutch girl says "Ya, Ya", ya-ya-ya
Ev'ry little Russian says "Da, Da"
But, Sweetheart, oh, why won't you tell me why
No matter how m-m-much I try, please tell me why
La-la-la-la-da, won't listen to my plea
Won't say "Yes" on any language to me
Oh-woh, and when you say "Si, Si", say "Si, Si"
La la la la la la la da da da da
La da da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da
Da da da da da da da da daaa
(Orchestral Interlude)
If you could only say "Si, Si", "Oui, Oui", "Ya, Ya", "Da, Da,"
Da da da la da
And all my life would be a song,
Nothing could go wrong, go wrong, go wrong
If you give in, I'll win
I won't give up, give up
Darling, if you give in
I must hear you say "Si, Si"
Oh, won't you listen to my plea
Please say "Yes" in any language to me
Rumors are flying that you've got me sighing
That I'm in a crazy kind of a daze, a lazy sort of a haze
When I go walking, I hear people talking
They say our affair is not just a passing phase
And they whisper 'bout the flowers
You keep sending me by the dozen
And they wonder 'bout the hours
That you spend with me, it keeps them buzzin'
Rumors are flying and I'm not denying
That people are sure I'm falling in love with you
'Cause for a change, darling
All the rumors are true
And they whisper all about the flowers
The many little flowers you keep sending me by the dozen
And they wonder all about the hours
That you spend with your baby, what do you do, do, do
That keeps 'em buzzin' all the time, all the time
Rumors are flying and I'm not denying
That people are sure I'm falling in love with you
'Cause for a change, darling
I got a gal who's always late
Anytime we have a date
But I love her, yes I love her
Mmm, he's gonna walk up to my gate
And see if he can get it straight
'Cause he wants her, he's gonna ask her
Is you is or is you ain't my baby
The way you're actin' lately makes me doubt
You's is still my baby, baby
Seems my flame in your heart's done gone out
A woman is a creature that has always been strange
Just when you're sure of one, you find she's gone and made a change
Is you is or is you ain't my baby
Maybe baby's found somebody new
Or is my baby still my baby true
Is you or is you ain't my baby, baby
Baby boy, the way you're actin' lately makes me doubt
See here, who's been cuttin' me
You's is still my baby, baby
Baby boy, it seems my flame in your heart's done gone out
Oh, blackout
A woman is a creature that has always been strange
Just when you're sure of one, you find she's gone and made a change
And took my change
Is you is or is you ain't my baby
Maybe baby's found somebody new
Maybe baby's found somebody
I'll be with you in apple blossom time.
I'll be with you to change your name to mine.
One day in May, I'll come and say
Happy surprise that the sun shines on today.
What a wonderful wedding there will be.
What a wonderful day for you and me.
Church bells will chime,
You will be mine,
In apple blossom time.
I'll be with you
(When?)
In Apple blossom time
(Then what will you do?)
Then, I'll be with you to change your name to mine.
(When will that be?)
One day maybe in May,
(Then what will you do?)
I'll come and say to you dear
Happy surprise that the sun shines on today.
Then what a wonderful wedding there will be
(One day in May)
What a very, very wonderful day for you and me dear.
Church bells will chime,
You will be mine.
(When?)
in apple,
You Do Something To Me
By Andrews Sisters
You do…
Something to me…
Something that simply mystifies me!
Tell me…
Why should it be?
You have the power to hypnotize me!
Let me live ‘neath your spell!
Do, do that…
Voodoo that…
You do so well!
For you do…
Something to me!
That nobody else could do!
You do…
Something to me!
Something that simply mystifies me!
Tell me!
Why should it be?
You have the power…
The power to hypnotize me!
Let me live ‘neath your spell!
Do, do that…
Voodoo, that…
You do so well!
For you do…
Something to me
that Nobody else could!
Nobody else could!

Feelin' low
Rockin' slow
I want to go
Right back where I belong
Way down south in Birmingham
I mean south in Alabam'
There's an old place where people go
To dance the night away
They all drive or walk for miles
To get jive that southern style
It's an old jive that makes you want
To dance till break of day
It's a junction where the town folks meet
At each function in a tux they greet you
Come on down, forget your care
Come on down, you'll find me there
So long town, I'm heading for
Tuxedo Junction now
(instrumental break)
Feelin' low
Rockin' slow
I want to go
Right back where I belong
Way down south in Birmingham
I mean south in Alabam'
There's an old place where people go
To dance the night away
They all drive or walk for miles
To get jive that southern style
It's an old jive that makes you want

You call everybody Darlin'
And everybody calls you Darlin' too
You don't mean what you're sayin'
It's just a game you're playin'
But you'll find someone else can play the game as well as you
If you call everybody Darlin'
Then love won't come a-knockin' at your door
And as the years go by
You'll sit and wonder why
Nobody calls you Darlin' anymore
(You call everybody Darling
And everybody calls you Darling too
No, no, no, you don't mean what you're sayin'
It's just a game you're playin'
But you'll find someone else can play the game as well as you
If you call everybody Darling
Then love won't come a-knockin' at your door, nevermore
And as the years go by
You'll sit and wonder why
Nobody calls you Darling anymore)
You call everybody (what?) Darlin' (Oh, dear me, yes)
And everybody calls you Darlin' too (how many times in the day do I say)
You don't mean what you're sayin'
It's just a game you're playin'
But you'll find someone else can play the game as well as you (maybe better)
If you call everybody (what?) Darlin'
Then love won't come a-knockin' at your door
Who's there? (not love)
And as the years go by
You'll sit and wonder why
Mother, may I go out dancing?
Yes, my darling daughter
Mother, may I try romancing?
Yes, my darling daughter
What if there’s a moon, mama darling, and it’s shining on the water
Mother, must I keep on dancing?
Yes, my darling daughter
What if he’ll propose, mama darling, when the night is growing shorter?
Mother, what should be my answer?
Yes, my darling daughter
Mother, will it be exciting?
Mother, do I look inviting?
What if he holds me tight & my knees just turn to water
Mama, what should I do?
What if there’s a moon, my mama darling, and it’s shining on the water
Mother, must I keep on dancing?
Yes, my darling daughter
What if he’ll propose, my mama darling, when the night is growing shorter?
Mother, what'cha think should be my answer?
Yes, my darling daughter
Oh mama darling, what if he holds my hand & then says, "Come just a little closer?"
Mother dear, what should be my answer?
Sleigh bells ring
are you listening
in the lane
snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
we're happy tonight
walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song
as we go along
walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
we'll say: No man
But you can do the job
when you're in town
Later on
we'll conspire
as we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
the plans that we've made
walking in a winter wonderland
Over the ground lies a mantle of white
A heaven of diamonds
and a lovely night.
In the meadow we can build a snowman
then give him a name
and call him Parson Brown
He'll say: are you married?
And then we'll say: No man
But now you can do the job
Whenever you're in town
Later on
maybe we'll conspire
as we dream a'sittin' by the fire
To face unafraid
all the plans that we've made
walking in a winter wonderland
Sleigh bell ring
are you listening
In the lane
snow is glistening
a beautiful sight
we're happy tonight
Why talk about love when there's so much to be done?
Words can't reveal the way I feel; they never ring true.
Why talk about love when a kiss is so much fun?
Why waste the time on words when I'm with you?
The wisest men will always recommend
That actions speak louder than words,
But what's the use? We've no excuse
Let's say no more, nothing more.
Night has just begun; the moon is high above;
When there's so much to be done, why should we talk about love?
Why talk about love when there's so much to be done?
Why should we talk about love, when a kiss is much more fun?
Why talk about love?
Why should we waste time, when we know that you are mine?
Why should we always waste time, when a kiss is so sublime?
La-la-la-la-la-la-do-do-do, la-la-la-la-la-la-do-do-do.
The wisest men will always recommend
That actions speak louder than words,
So what's the use? We've no excuse
Let's say no more, la-la-la-da-da nothing more.
Night has just begun; the moon is high up above,
When there's so much to be done, why should we, should we, should we talk about love?
The moon is oh, so bright,
The stars are out tonight,
Come on, honey, don't you take your time;
La-da-do-da, la-da-do-da, tell me you're mine!
The wisest men will always recommend
That actions speak louder than words,
Oh, but what's the use? We've no excuse;
Let's say no more, nothing more.
Night has just begun;
And we're having our fun,
Come on, honey,
The moon's above,
Why should we always, always talk about love?
La-da-do-de-dang
It might have been the beach at Bali-Bali,
Or was it by the blue Miami shore?
I don't recall your name,
But won't youi tell me, just the same,
Where have we met before?
It might have been way back in Nagasaki,
Where women wicky wacky 'round your door;
I seem to recognise
The light that's shinin' in your eyes,
Where have we met before?
Did I hold your hand in a little gypsy tea room,
Or on the Isle of Capri?
Tell me, did we sing in a chapel in the moonlight,
September in the rain, remember me?
It might have been in Paris in the springtime,
The thought of it intrigues me more and more!
And then again it seems,
I might have kissed you in my dreams,
Where have we met before?
Each time I look at you
I pinch myself to see if it's true;
I'm positive we've met before,
I wish that I knew!
But we haven't,
Let me introduce me to you!
(scat)
Whenever you're around I feel as light as the air,
I haven't got a worry and I haven't got a care!
But when you are away I feel the lowest despair,
(scat)
Did I hold your hand in a little gypsy tea room,
Or on the Isle of Capri?
Tell me, did we stand and talk and laugh along the chapel in the moonlight?
(scat)
It might have been in Paris in the springtime,
(scat)
The thought of it intrigues me more and more!
She left twenty-nine broken hearts
Broken in twenty-nine parts
Now there are twenty-nine fellas complainin' to their moms
About the lady from 29 palms
She got twenty-nine cadillacs
Twenty-nine sables from sach's
They came from twenty-nine fellas who never had their arms
Around the lady from 29 palms
She's a yip-yip-yippy-eyed dolly
A new kinda gal of the west
And yip-yip-yippy by-golly
Whatever she does, she does her best
She rides twenty-nine trails to bliss
Knows twenty-nine ways how to kiss
She is a gal that you dream of, you'd love to have your arms
Around the lady from 29 palms
She left twenty-nine broken hearts, baby
Broken in twenty-nine parts were their broken hearts, mmm oy-da doy-da
Twenty-nine fellas complainin' to their moms
About the lady from 29 palms
She got twenty-nine cadillacs, baby
Twenty-nine sables from sach's and them cadillacs, mmm boy-da doy-da
Twenty-nine fellas who never had their arms
Around the lady from 29 palms
------ instrumental break ------
She's a yippety-yippety-yippety-eye-oh, what a dolly
A bronco that no one can break
And yippety-yippety-yippety-eye-oh, by-golly
She's never giving, but how she takes
She's got twenty-nine diamond rings
Got, got, got 'em without any strings (wow!)
A dynamite dream-boat, a load of atom bombs (who?)
The lady from 29 palms
Boy? Oh, boy!
Panama, Shanama, Swanee shore,
Let me dig dig dig that jive some more;
Boy? Oh boy!
The jim-jam-jump with the jumpin' jive
Makes you get your kicks on the mellow side.
Hep! Hep! hip-hip hip-hip
Hep! Hep! hip-hip hip-hip
The jim-jam-jump with the solid jive,
Makes you nine foot tall when you're four foot five,
Hep! hep! hip-hip hip-hip
Hep! Hep! hip-hip hip-hip
Don't be that ickeroo,
Get hep and follow through,
And get your steady foo
Make the joint jump like the gators do
The jim-jam-jump with the jumpin' jive
Makes you like your eggs on the Jersey side.
Hep! Hep!
Hep! Hep!
The jim-jam-jump with the jumpin' jive,
Makes you hep, hep, hep, on the mellow side,
Up today, up today
Make the joint jump like the gators do,
The jim-jam-jump with the jumpin' jive
Makes you get your kicks on the mellow side.
Hep! Hep!
Hep! Hep! Dee - ha - ho
Ho-ho the jim-jam-jump with the solid jive,
Makes you nine foot tall when you're four foot five,
Hep! hep!
Hep! Hep! Dee - ha - ho
Oh don't be that ickeroo,
Ge-ge-ge-get that hep and than you follow through,
And get your steady foo foo foo foo foo foo
And let the foo to you
Yip your mellow, yee 'n yellow
And if you hear a knock on front the door
Do let me in because there might be more
If you're hollow, don't let the hick be follow
And let me stop to jump like the gators do
Do do the jump jump jump to be a nickleroo
The jim-jam-jump with the jumpin'jive
Make you like your eggs on the Jersey side
Hep! Hep!
Hep! Hep! Hep! Hep!
I have never been aboard a steamer
I am just content to be a dreamer
Even if I could afford a steamer
I will take the ferry boat every time
I love to ride the ferry
Where music is so merry
There's a man who plays the concertina
On the moonlit upper deck arena
While boys and girls are dancing
While sweethearts are romancing
Life is like a mardi-gras
Funiculi, funicula
Happy, we cling together
Happy, we sing together
Happy, with the ferry boat serenade
I am happy, very, very happy
When we're on the ferry
The music is so merry
There's a man who plays the concertina
On the moonlit upper deck arena, arena
I love to ride the ferry
Where music is so merry
There's a man who always plays the concertina, oh my
On the moonlit upper deck arena, by and by
While the boys and girls are dancing, oh dancing
While, while the sweethearts are romancing
Life is like a mardi-gras
Funiculi, funicula
Happy, we cling together
Happy, we sing together
Happy with the ferry boat serenade
------ instrumental break ------
I love to ride the ferry
Sailing, sailing where, where the music is so merry
There's a man who just plays the concertina
On the moonlit upper deck arena
All the while the boys and girls are dancing
Look around and you see sweethearts romancing
Life is like a mardi-gras
Funiculi, funicula
Happy, we cling together
Happy, we sing together
Way down among Brazilians
Coffee beans grow by the billions
So they've got to find those extra cups to fill
They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil
You can't get cherry soda
cause they've got to fill that quota
And the way things are I'll bet they never will
They've got a zillion tons of coffee in Brazil
No tea or tomato juice
You'll see no potato juice
Cause the planters down in Santos all say no, no, no
A politicians daughter
Was accused of drinking water
And was fined a great big fifty dollar bill
They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil
Way down among Brazilians
Coffee beans grow by the billions
So they've got some extra cups to fill
They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil
In Brazil...
And when their ham and eggs need savor
Coffee ketchup gives 'em flavor
Coffee pickles way outsell the dill
Why they put coffee in the coffee in brazil
No tea or tomato juice
You'll see no potato juice
Cause the planters down in Santos all say no, no, no
So your lead to the local color
Serving coffee with a cruller
Dunking doesn't take a lot of skill
They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil

Holdin' hands at midnight
'neath a starry sky
Nice work if you can get it
And you can get it if you try
Strollin' with the one girl
Sighin' sigh after sigh
Nice work if you can get it
And you can get it if you try
Just imagine someone
Waiting at the cottage door
Where two hearts become one
Who could ask for anything more?
Loving one who loves you
And then takin' that vow
Nice work if you can get it
And if you get it, won't you tell me how?
Holdin' hands at midnight
'neath a starry sky
And strollin' with the one girl
Sighing sigh after sigh
Just imagine someone
Waiting at the cottage door
Where two hearts become one
Who could ask for anything more?
Loving one who loves you
And then takin' that vow
Nice work if you can get it

Why am I always yearning for Teresa
When there is Peggy, Margarite and Mary Jane
Why does my heart keep burnin' for Teresa
When I know that lovin' her is all in vain
Oh. Peggy is delightful, and Margarite is sweet
And a little smile from Mary Jane can make my day complete
Nevertheless there's only one I dream of
Teresa, Teresa my love.
(Andrews Sisters)
Why is he always yearning for Teresa
When we have charms and we have arms to love him so, love him so
Why does his heart keep burning for Teresa
When we'd give all the world just to have him alone for our beau
Whenever we are near him our hearts begin to dance
For he looks at us so tenderly that we think we stand a chance
Nevertheless there's only one he dreams of
Teresa, Teresa his love.
(Dick Haymes)
Why am I always yearning for Teresa
When there are other girls that I can be around
(Andrews)
Oh how I hate to hear that name Teresa
What's she got that I have not I'd like to know
(Dick Haymes)
Oh. Peggy is delightful, and Margarite is sweet
And a little smile from Mary Jane can make my day complete
(Andrews)
In spite of it all there's only one he dreams of
Teresa
(Dick Haymes)
Teresa my love.
(Orchestral Break)
(Dick Haymes)
I haven't found the answer, and chances are I might
(Andrews)
If he knew the way to capture her, his future would be bright
(All)
Nevertheless there's only one we dream of
(Dick Haymes)
Teresa
(Andrews)
No one but Teresa

There's a burlesque theater where the boys like to go
To see Queenie, the cutie of the burlesque show
And the thrill of the evening is when out Queenie trips
And the band plays the polka while she strips.
cho 1: "Take it off! Take it off!"
All the customers shout,
"Down in front! Down in front!"
While the band beats it out;
But she's always a lady, even in pantomime
And she stops...and always just in time.
She's as fresh and as wholesome as the flowers of May
And she hopes to retire to a farm some day,
But you can't buy a farm unless you're up in the chips
So the band plays the polka while she strips.
Release: Queenie, queen of them all,
Queenie, some day you'll fall.
Some day, wedding bells will chime
In strip polka time.
Well, she hates corny waltzes and she hates the gavotte
But the greatest advantage when the music's hot:
There's a fast-moving exit in case something r-r-rips
So the band plays the polka while she strips.
cho 2: "Take it off! Take it off!"
Cries a voice from the rear,
"Take it off! Take it off!"
Soon that's all you can hear;
But she's always a lady, even in pantomime
A buzzard took a monkey for a ride in the air
The monkey thought that everything was on the square
The buzzard tried to toss the monkey of of his back
But the monkey grabbed his neck and said now listen jack
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don't you blow your top
Ain't no use in diving
What's the use of diving
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don’t you blow your top
The buzzard told the monkey you are choking me
Release your hold and I will set you free
The monkey looked the buzzard right dead in the eye
And said your story's so touching, it sounds just like a lie
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don't you blow your top
The buzzard told the monkey you are choking me
Release your hold and I will set you free
The monkey looked the buzzard right dead in the eye
And said your story's so touching, it sounds just like a lie
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down papa don't you blow your top
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Ai, ai, ai, ai
Have you ever danced in the tropics?
With that hazy lazy
Like, kind of crazy
Like South American way
Ai, ai, ai, ai
Have you ever kissed in the moonlight
In the grand and glorious
Gay notorious
When there are grey skies
I don't mind the grey skies.
You make them blue, Sonny Boy.
Friends may forsake me,
Let them all forsake me.
I still have you Sonny Boy.
You're sent from heaven and I know your worth.
You made a heaven for me right here on the earth.
When I'm old and grey, dear,
Promise you won't stray, dear,
Sing, sing, sing, sing,
everybody start to sing like
dee dee dee, bah bah bah dah.
Now you're singing with a swing
Sing, sing, sing, sing,
everybody start to sing like
dee dee dee, bah bah bah dah.
Now you're singing like everything
When the music goes a round
everybody is gonna go to town
but there is on-e thing you should know
sing it high and sing it low oh!
Sing, sing, sing, sing,
everybody start to sing like
dee dee dee, bah bah bah dah
Now you're singing with a real good sing
Sing, sing, sing, sing,
everybody start to sing like
dee dee dee, bah bah bah dah
Now you're singing with a swing
Sing, sing, sing, sing,
everybody start to sing like
dee dee dee, bah bah bah dah
Now you're singing like everything
when the music goes a round
everybody is gonna got to town
but there is on-e thing you should know
sing it high and singing low oh!
Sing, sing, sing, sing,
everybody start to sing like
dee dee dee, bah bah bah dah.
Now you're singing with a real good sing
Sing, sing, sing, sing,

Bring out and sing out your swing sing
sing, sing, sing, sing,
everybody start to sing like
dee dee dee, bah bah bah dah.
Now you're singing with a real good sing
Put on the skillet, slip on the lid,
Mama's gonna make a little short'nin' bread.
That ain't all she's gonna do,
Mama's gonna make a little coffee, too.
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread.
Three little children, lyin' in bed
Two were sick and the other 'most dead
Sent for the doctor and the doctor said,
"Give those children some short'nin' bread."
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread.
When those children, sick in bed,
Heard that talk about short'nin' bread,
Popped up well to dance and sing,
Skipped around and cut the pigeon wing.
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread.
Slip to the kitchen, slip up the led,
Filled my pockets full of short'nin' bread;
Stole the skillet, stole the led,
Stole the gal makin' short'nin' bread.
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread.
Caught me with the skillet, caught me with the led,
Caught me with the gal makin' short'nin' bread;
Paid six dollars for the skillet, six dollars for the led,
Spent six months in jail eatin' short'nin' bread.
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves short'nin', short'nin',
You've seen him up and down the avenue
And now he's wearin' the navy blue
She had a tear in the corner of her eye
As he said his last goodbye
Shoo, shoo, shoo baby
Shoo, shoo, shoo baby
Bye, bye, bye baby
Do-dah do-day
Your papa's off to the seven seas
Don't cry baby
Don't sigh baby
Bye, bye, bye baby
Do-dah do-day
When i come back we'll live a life of ease
Seems kinda tough now
To say goodbye this way
But papa's gotta be rough now
So that he can be sweet to you another day
Bye, bye, bye baby
Don't cry baby
Shoo, shoo, shoo baby
Do-dah do-day
Your papa's off to the seven seas
(shhh-shoo baby) do-dah do-day
(shhh-shoo baby) do-dah do-day
(shhh-shoo baby, shoo, shoo)
Quiet!!
I want a little bit o' quiet in the house, please
(she wants a little bit of quiet in the house)
So your papa's on his way to cross the seven seas
So don't you cry, oh, don't you sigh goodbye now
Shoo, shoo baby shooo-oo-oo
Shoo, shoo my baby shoooo
Goodbye baby, don't you cry no more
Your big tall papa's off to the seven seas
Seems kinda tough now
To say goodbye this way
But papa's gotta be rough now
So that he can be sweet to you another day
Shhhh baby, shhhh baby
Shoo, shoo, shoo baby
Goodbye, goodbye
Your papa's off to the seven seas, the seven seas
Round her neck she wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the winter
And the merry month of May
When I asked her: Why the yellow ribbon?
She said: It's for my lover who is far far away
Far away, far away, far away, far away
She said: It's for my lover who is far far away
Far away, far away, far away, far away
She said: It's for my lover who is far far away
When, at first, she met a winsome Johnny
He wasn't sure her heart was pure
Her eyes were far too bold
So, round her neck
He tied a yellow ribbon
He tied a yellow ribbon
'Cause it matched her hair of gold
Hair of gold, hair of gold
He tied a yellow ribbon
'Cause it matched her hair of gold
Hair of gold, hair of gold
He tied a yellow ribbon
For her eyes were far too bold
If, perchance, you spy a lovely maiden
And by her side, there walks with pride
A Johnny strong and gay
And round her neck there is a yellow ribbon
No matter how you love her
Please stay far far away
Far away, far away, far away, far away
No matter how you love her
Please stay far far away
Far away, far away, far away, far away
Her love is for another
So stay far far away
Far far away
Round her neck she wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the winter
And the merry month of May
When I asked her: Why the yellow ribbon?
She said: It's for my lover who is far far away
Far away, far away
She said: It's for my lover who is far far away
Far away, far away
She said: It's for my lover who is far far away
Far far away
Sha sha
Sha sha
Yay yay
Yay yay
Sha sha here comes my thrill
Oh the ya-sha please keep still
Don't talk too much & kill my chances with this guy
Sha sha now go & play
This is your sisters day
Don't give my age away & make him say goodbye
Oh ya-sha don't tell him I'm old
He thinks pop has lots of gold
Told him that momma's got a chauffeur & a car
Sha sha now you'll get hung
If you don't hold your tongue
Till wedding bells have rung
ya-sha sha sha
My next door neighbors daughter
Is really in hot water
Because she has a brother whose a brat
When someone comes to court her
& gives the kid a quarter
he spills what he should keep under his hat
She cries & tries to put him wise to what it's all about
And every night the neighbors hear her shout, oh hear her shout
Sha Sha
Oh voice keep still
Sha sha
Here comes my thrill don't talk too much
Won't you please be still
Oh we will be still
Oh sha sha ya-sha
Won't you let me pull my bluff
Cause I told him that my mami had gold in her piani & her pot
Oh sha sha sha
Oh ya-sha please be kind
He's the last in line
What a glorious feeling
Rum and coca-cola
If you ever go down Trinidad
They make you feel so very glad
Calypso sing and make up rhyme
Guarantee you one real good fine time
Drinkin' rum and Coca-Cola
Go down Point Koomahnah
Both mother and daughter
Workin' for the Yankee dollar
Oh, beat it man, beat it
Since the Yankee come to Trinidad
They got the young girls all goin' mad
Young girls say they treat 'em nice
Make Trinidad like paradise
Drinkin' rum and Coca-Cola
Go down Point Koomahnah
Both mother and daughter
Workin' for the Yankee dollar
Oh, you vex me, you vex me
From Chicachicaree to Mona's Isle
Native girls all dance and smile
Help soldier celebrate his leave
Make every day like New Year's Eve
Drinkin' rum and Coca-Cola
Go down Point Koomahnah
Both mother and daughter
Workin' for the Yankee dollar
It's a fact, man, it's a fact
In old Trinidad, I also fear
The situation is mighty queer
Like the Yankee girl, the native swoon
When she hear der Bingo croon
Drinkin' rum and Coca-Cola
Go down Point Koomahnah
Both mother and daughter
Workin' for the Yankee dollar
Out on Manzanella Beach
G.I. romance with native peach
All night long, make tropic love
Next day, sit in hot sun and cool off
Drinkin' rum and Coca-Cola
Go down Point Koomahnah
Both mother and daughter
Workin' for the Yankee dollar
It's a fact, man, it's a fact
Rum and Coca-Cola
Rum and Coca-Cola
All Harlem's got a brand new rhythm
And it's burning up the dance floors
Because it's so hot
They took a little rhumba rhythm
And they added boogie woogie
And now look what they've got
Rhumboogie, rhumboogie woogie
It's Harlem's new creation
With a Cuban syncopation
It's a killer
Rhumboogie, rhumboogie woogie
The native rhythm haunts you
It's barbaric and it taunts you
It's a killer
Just plant your both feet on each side
Let both your hips and shoulders glide
Then throw your body back and ride
There's nothing like rhumboogie, rhumboogie woogie
In Harlem or Havana
You can kiss the old Savanna
It's a killer
{Oh, beat me daddy, eight to the bar}
Rhumboogie, rhumboogie woogie
It's Harlem's new creation
With a Cuban syncopation
It's a killer
Rhumboogie, rhumboogie woogie
The native rhythm haunts you
It's barbaric and it taunts you
It's a killer
Just plant your toes and both feet on the side
Let both your hips and shoulders glide
Then throw your body way back and ride
Think a little of, the rhumba
The boogie, the woogie
Then put them, both all together
You have rhumboogie
Then all together sing rhumboogie
Rhumboogie woogie, rhumboogie
In Harlem or Havana
It'll kiss the old Savanna
It's a killer, it's a killer this rhumboogie
Rhumboogie, rhumboogie
Rhumboogie woogie woogie woogie woogie
Do do do do diddleyada do diddleyada do do dee
Bah-dah-dah-dum
Bah-dah-dah-bah-dah-dah-dah-lah-dah-lah-lah-dah-lah-bah
Come with me when moonbeams, hah-hah
Light Tahitian skies
And the starlit waters
Linger in your eyes
Native hills are calling, hah-hah
To them we belong
And we'll cheer each other
With the pagan love song
Come with me when moonbeams
Light Tahitian skies, oh those skies
And the starlit waters
Linger in your... Oh! Pagan!

Tell me why he winks his eye whenever he goes by my window
Daughter daughter he's in love and you're in love
Oh, Johnny! Oh, Johnny!
How you can love
Oh, Johnny! Oh, Johnny!
Heavens above
You make my sad heart jump with joy
And when you're near I just can't sit still a minute
I'm so, Oh, Johnny! Oh, Johnny!
Please tell me dear
What makes me love you so?
You're not handsome, it's true
But when I look at you
I just, Oh, Johnny!
Oh, Johnny! Oh!
da-da-da
All the girls are crazy about a certain little lad
Although he's very very bad
He could be oh so good when he wanted to
Bad or good he understood about love & other things
For every girl in town followed him around
just to hold his hand and sing
Oh, Johnny!
Oh, Johnny Johnny!
How you can love
Oh, Johnny!
Oh, Johnny Johnny!
Heavens above, way above
You make my sad heart jump with joy
And when you're near I just can't sit still another minute
Oh, Johnny!
Oh, Johnny Johnny!
Please tell me dear
What makes me love you so?
You're not handsome, it is true
But when I look at you
I just, Oh, Johnny Johnny Johnny! My!

Johnny, Oh! Johnny, Oh!
Johnny, Oh! Johnny, Oh!
Johnny, Oh! Johnny, Oh!
Johnny, Oh! Johnny, Oh!
Oh Johnny! Please tell me dear
What makes me love you so?
You're not handsome it is true
But when I look at you
Mr. Sandman
By Andrews Sisters
(Bung, bung, bung, bung!) 26x
Mr. Sandman,
bring me a dream (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Make him the cutest
that I’ve ever seen (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Give him two lips
like roses and clover (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman,
I’m so alone(bung, bung, bung, bung)
Don’t have nobody
to call my own(bung, bung, bung, bung)
Please turn on your magic beam!
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.
(Bung, bung, bung, bung!)
Mr. Sandman,
bring me a dream
Make him the cutest
that I’ve ever seen
Give him the word
that I’m not a rover
Then tell him
that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman,
I’m so alone
Don’t have nobody
to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam (whoa)
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.
(Bung, bung, bung, bung!)
Mr. Sandman
("Yesss?")
bring us a dream
Give him a pair of eyes
with a "come-hither" gleam
Give him a lonely heart
like Pagliacci
And lots of wavy hair like Liberace
Mr Sandman,
someone to hold (someone to hold)
Would be so peachy
before we’re too old
So please turn on your magic beam!
Mr Sandman,
bring us,
please, please, please!
Mr Sandman, bring us a dream!
La-la-la
Money is the root of all evil
Money is the root of all evil
Won't contaminate myself with it
Take it away, take it away, take it away
If a woman calls a man honey
And it's on account of his money
Honey & money will soon be gone
Take it away, take it away, take it away
I got the one I love
I got the moon & stars above
I got my youth & health
What do I want with wealth?
Money is the root of all evil
Money is the root of all evil
Won't contaminate myself with it
Take it away, take it away, take it away
La la la
Haven't got a cent but don't worry
Haven't got a job but no hurry
I would answer if they gave me gold
Take it away, take it away, take it away
If you want no income tax mister
Take it easy & relax mister
When they offer work be strong & say
Take it away, take it away, take it away
I got the one I love
I got the moon & stars above
I got my youth & my health
What do I want with wealth?
Money is the root of all evil
Money is the root of all evil
Won't contaminate myself with it
Take it away, take it away, take it away, take it away
Lullabye of Broadway
Come on along and listen to, the lullaby of Broadway
The hip hooray and ballyhoo, the lullaby of Broadway
The rumble of a subway train, the rattle of the taxis
The daffydils who entertain, at Angelo's and Maxi's
When a Broadway baby says good night, it's early in the morning
Manhattan babies don't sleep tight until the dawn:
Good night, baby
Good night, milkman's on his way
Sleep tight, baby
Sleep tight, let's call it a day. Hey!
Come on along and listen to, the lullaby of Broadway
The hi-dee-hi and boop-a-doo, the lullaby of Broadway
The band begins to go to town, and everyone goes crazy
You rock-a-bye your baby round, 'til everything gets hazy
Hush-a-bye I'll buy you this and that, you hear a daddy saying
And baby goes home to her flat, to sleep all day:
Good night, baby
Good night, milkman's on his way
Sleep tight, baby
Sleep tight,
Let's call it a day - - -
You're just a simple melody
Designed to haunt your memory
It's bound to get you instantly
It sneaks up on you unaware
Before you even know it's there
You're swaying to it's catchy air
Dancing with your favourite thrill
He will hold you closer still
And suddenly you both agree
That dancing can be heavenly
You're just a simple melody
It's just a simple thing
And it starts with a major swing
It's a tune that'll make you sing
And sing and sing and sing
First the southpaw flow
Bo-bo-bo-bo-bo-bo
Then it starts to go
Tah-dah-rah-dah, deh-dah-dah-lad-lah-dah-dah
Rocks you to-and-fro
Dah-dah-deh-dah-dah, dee-dah-dah-lah-dah
You know this melody is always haunting me
It delights you, it excites you
This melody will never let me be
It sneaks up on you unaware
Before you even know it's there
They're playing, you're swaying
It's just a simple melody
Designed to haunt your memory
It's bound to get you instantly
Dah-hah, dah-hah-hah, doo-duh-dah-doo-lah-hah
It sneaks up on you unaware
Before you even know that it's there
You're swaying to it's catchy air
Dancing with your favourite thrill
He will hold you closer still
Trumpets ring, then let's sing
Rhythm swing
De-do-de-do-de-do-de
A certain maid I know, is so afraid her boy
Will never ask her, will she name the day
He calls on her each night, and when she dims the light
It's ten to one that you would hear her say
Oh Joseph, Joseph, won't you make your mind up
It's time I knew just how I stand with you
My heart's no clock that I can stop and wind up
Each time we make up after being through
So listen Joseph, Joseph time is fleeting
And here and there my hair is turning grey
My mother has a fear, wedding bells I'll never hear
Joseph, Joseph, won't you name the day
Oh Joseph, won't you name the day
Oh Joseph, won't you name the day
Oh Joseph, won't you name the day
Name the day, name the day
Oh Joseph, make your mind up
It's time I knew just how I stand with you
My heart's no clock that I can wind up
Oh Joseph, each time we make up after being through
Oh Joseph, Joseph, Joseph, time is fleeting
And here and there my hair is turning grey
My mama has a fear, wedding bells I'll never hear
House Of Blue Lights
Do-do-do-do-dodiliada lada rebop
Do-do-do-do-dodiliada lada rebop
Lace up your boots and we'll grove on down
To a knocked out shack on the edge of town
There's an eight piece combo that just won't quit
Keep walkin' 'til you see a blue light lit it all up
Fall in there and we'll see some sights
At the house the house of blue lights
There's fryers and broilers and Detroit barbeque ribs
But the treat of the treats is when they serve you those fine eight beats
You'll want to spend the rest of your brights
Down at the house, The house of blue lights
We'll have a time and we'll cut some rug
While we dig those tunes like they should be dug
It's a real home comin' for all those "Cats"
Just trilly down a path of welcome mats
Fall in there and we'll see some sights
Down at the house, the house of blue lights
(instrumental)
Ah steady Eddy, steady
Ah look out for Talula
There's fryers and broilers and Detroit barbeque ribs
But the treat of the treats is when they serve you those fine eight beats
You'll want to spend the rest of your brights
Down at the house, at the house, at the house of blue lights
We'll have a time and we'll cut some rug
While we dig those tunes like they should be dug
It's a real home comin' for all those "Cats"
Just trilly down the path of welcome mats
Fall in there and we'll see some sights

HO-HO-KUS, NJ
-------------
We know a town in the heart of New Jersey,
Where the birds sing all day long.
And it gave us the inspiration,
from which we wrote the following song:
I remember t'was September,
when the crocus first awoke us
to Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ
We were dunkin' with a cruller
Moppin' up the local color
of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ
We dropped in at a movie
and sat next to a Queen
Who was every bit as groovy
as the ones on the screen.
So we wrote this hocus-pocus,
so attention we could focus
on Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.
I'll go my way, you go your way
And we'll never meet in Rahway
or Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ
All the sweater girls in Teaneck,
wear a devastating V-neck
they're peculiar that way.
A feller from Bogota
who would never be missed,
buys a gal a cherry-soda
and expects to be kissed.
It's lonesome in Passaic,
but the town that takes the ca-ik,
is Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.
If you want to, you can walk us
to a town they call Secaucus,
near Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ
'Cause the fra-cus will be rauc-ous
when Ho-Ho-Kus meets Secaucus
in the big game today.
The ones to whom we've spoken
never heard of the town.
They confuse it with Sha-no-ken
and it gets us down.
So we wrote this little opus,
which we'll sing until they choke us
Oh you can take the high road
Or you can take the low road
Go the way the wind is blowin’
Take the main road, the side road
The cross road, the rail road
As long as you keep goin’
Now if you ever get mad
With a very young lad
You better do what I tell you
Don’t you rave, don’t you shout
Don’t you even start to pout
Here is a very simple sample
Now I took a stroll with a boy in the park
We found a bench in a spot that was dark
And he tried stealin’ a kiss, but what did I say?
Oh, what did I say? Hit the road!
Down on the square where the hobos all meet
Someone was makin’ a speech in the street
But just then somebody hollered, "Hey! The Light’s green"
Oh, what did he mean? Hit the road!
When you’re annoyed with anyone
Don’t get mad, don’t rave, don’t shout,
Just count to ten and then politely say
"Get lost, bail out"
I just set out to you folks for a spell
Not just to prove that I can take it as well
I’ll let you give it to me, I’ll leave it to you
Oh what’ll I do? Hit the road!
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-do, da-da-da-da-do
Da-da-da-da-da, hit the road!
Dibs he gets fresh in the dark (Hit the road)
And if he suggests that you park
And if he trys to steal a kiss (Oh, what'll you say?)
Hit the road!
(Hit the road) And if he should hand you a line
(And if he says) "Honey, what is yours should be mine"
If you have a date at eight and he comes at nine
(Oh, what d'you say?) Hit the road!
When you’re annoyed with anyone
Don’t get mad, don’t rave, don’t shout
You better count to ten and then politely say
"Hey, get off my back"
We just set out to you folks for a spell
Not just to prove that we can take it as well
We'll let you give it to us, so what'll we do
Oh, what’ll we do? Hit the road!
Why are the stars always winkin' and blinkin' above?
What makes a fellow start thinkin' of fallin' in love?
It's not the season, the reason is plain as the moon
It's just Elmer's Tune
What makes a lady of eighty go out on the loose?
Why does a gander meander in search of a goose?
What puts the kick in a chicken, the magic in June?
It's just Elmer's Tune
Listen
Listen
There's a lot you're liable to be missin'
Sing it
Swing it
Any old way and any old time
The hurdy-gurdies, the birdies, the cop on the beat
The candy maker, the baker, the man on the street
The city charmer, the farmer, the man in the moon
All sing Elmer's Tune
(Orchestral Interlude)
The hurdy-gurdies, the birdies, the cop on the beat
The baker, and the man on the street
The city charmer, the farmer, the man in the moon
All sing Elmer's Tune
They all sing Elmer’s Tune
They all sing Elmer’s Tune
Down in the valley, the valley so low,
Late in the evenin', hear the train blow.
Hear the train blow, dear, hear the train blow,
Late in the evenin', hear the train blow.
The train won't stay, love, it goes right through.
It will be gone, love, and so will you!
Know I love you, dear, know I love you,
Angels in heaven know I love you!
The train is gone, love, and out of sight;
Goodnight my darlin', darlin' goodnight!
Civilization (Bongo, Bongo, Bongo)
The Andrews Sisters with Danny Kaye
- written by Bob Hilliard and Carl Sigman
- as recorded September 27, 1947 in Los Angeles by The Andrews Sisters
with Danny Kaye and Vic Schoen & His Orchestra.
Each morning, a missionary advertises neon sign
He tells the native population that civilization is fine
And three educated savages holler from a bamboo tree
That civilization is a thing for me to see
So bongo, bongo, bongo, I don't wanna leave the Congo, oh no no no no no
Bingo, bangle, bungle, I'm so happy in the jungle, I refuse to go
Don't want no bright lights, false teeth, doorbells, landlords, I make it clear
That no matter how they coax him, I'll stay right here
I looked through a magazine the missionary's wife concealed (Magazine? What happens?)
I see how people who are civilized bung you with automobile (You know you can get hurt that
way Daniel?)
At the movies they have got to pay many coconuts to see (What do they see, Darling?)
Uncivilized pictures that the newsreel takes of me
So bongo, bongo, bongo, he don't wanna leave the Congo, oh no no no no no
Bingo, bangle, bungle, he's so happy in the jungle, he refuse to go
Don't want no penthouse, bathtub, streetcars, taxis, noise in my ear
So, no matter how they coax him, I'll stay right here
They hurry like savages to get aboard an iron train
And though it's smokey and it's crowded, they're too civilized to complain
When they've got two weeks vacation, they hurry to vacation ground (What do they do, Darling?)
They swim and they fish, but that's what I do all year round
So bongo, bongo, bongo, I don't wanna leave the Congo, oh no no no no no
Bingo, bangle, bungle, I'm so happy in the jungle, I refuse to go
Don't want no jailhouse, shotgun, fish-hooks, golf clubs, I got my spears
So, no matter how they coax him, I'll stay right here
They have things like the atom bomb, so I think I'll stay where I "ahm"
(Harry James/Jack Lawrence/Alberto Pestalozza)
When the moon hangs low in Napoli
There's a handsome gondolier
Every night he sings so happily
So his lady love can hear
In a manner so gravissimo
He repeats his serenade
And his heart beats so fortissimo
When she raises her Venetian shade
Ciribiribin, ciribiribin, ciribiribin
Ciribiribin, he waits for her each night beneath her balcony
Ciribiribin, he begs to hold her tight, but no, she won't agree
Ciribiribin, she throws a rose and blows a kiss from up above
Ciribiribin, ciribiribin, ciribiribin, they're so in love
Ciribiribin, he waits for her each night beneath her little balcony
Ciribiribin, he begs to hold her tight, but no, oh no, no, she won't agree
Ciribiribin, she throws a rose and blows a kiss from up above
Ciribiribin, ciribiribin, they're so in love
Ciribiribin che bel faccin
Che sguardo dolce assassin
Chico is the talk of the tropics
He's very gay with his new way of wooing
He's the new Romeo of the tropics
Let's take a peek and see what Chico's doing
A yellow moon is smiling down tonight on Chico
As Chico sings in Puerto Rico
Ma-La-Ja Fah-La Pas-Ka Lah-Tah
He loves to croon his little sentimental dream song
They always listen for his sing song
Ma-La-Ja Fah-La Pas-Ka Lah-Tah
He makes romance with his guitar and takes the lady for a walk
The fair ones come from near and far to hear his Cuban double talk
Ma-La-Ja Fah
His mellow tune makes every Senorita weaken
When Chico sings in Puerto Rican
His sweet sonata there's nothing hotter
Ma-La-Ja Fah-La Pas-Ka Lah-Tah
Chico is the talk of the tropics
He's very gay with his new way of wooing
He's the new Romeo of the tropic shmopics
Take a peek and see what Chico's doing
Ma-La-Ja Fah-La Pas-Ka Lah-Tah
Chico sings a sweet sonata as he sings it gets much hotter listen now
A yellow moon is smiling down tonight on Chico
As Chico sings in Puerto Rico
Ma-La-Ja Fah-La Pas-Ka Lah-Tah
He loves to croon his little sentimental dream song
They always listen for his sing song
Ma-La-Ja Fah-La Pas-Ka Lah-Tah
He makes romance and takes the lady for a walk, a walk
From near and far they come to hear his Cuban double talk

Hello railroad
Is this the railroad?
I want a oneway ticket down to Tennesee
I'm leaving immediately
Chattanooga - here I come
Pardon me boy, it that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?
Right on track Twenty-nine, Boy you can gimme a shine
I can afford to board the Chattanooga Choo Choo
I've got my fare, and just a trifle to spare
You'll leave the Pennsylvania Station ‘bout a quarter to four
Read a magazine and then you're in Baltimore
Dinner in the diner, Nothing could be finer
Than to have your ham an' eggs in Carolina
When you hear the whistle blowin' eight to the bar
Then you know that Tennessee is not very far.
Shovel all the coal in, Gotta keep it rollin'
Woo, Woo! Chattanooga there you are.
There's gonna be a certain party at the station
in satin and lace
I used to call Funny Face
She's gonna cry
until I tell her that I'll never roam
Say, what kind
of beat is that?
Man, it really spins my hat, doesn't
sound like boogie woogie, but it's
really got the beat. Sounds to me
like it's in four, let me hear
it just once more whilst I
latch on to that rhythm, 'cause a
solid four's my beat.
CHORUS
Some folks like to hear eight beat rhythm,
I don't go for that stuff no more,
anytime you really want to send me,
bounce me brother with a solid four.
Come on in, while the whole place is jumpin',
ev'ry body's out on the floor,
if you want to keep the rhythm pumpin',
bounce me brother with a solid four.
The boogie woogie was never like this,
we've got a new beat that no one can miss, if
boogie woogie sent like I think it did,
four to the bar will flip your lid.
Move the tables and roll the rug up,
shut the windows and lock the door,
while I try to dig the "Li'l Brown Jug" up,
Do-do-do, do-do-do-do
Little jitterbug don’t cry
You’ll be swingin’ by and by
You are just a tiny tot
And until you’ve grown a lot
Your rattle will have to do
Little jitterbug go slow
You’ll be rockin’ ‘fore you know
Daddy won’t be home ‘til dawn
When he left, he took his horn
Someday you will have one too
If you’re like your Pa,
Sonny, you’ll go far
My you’ll look grand
Leadin’ a band
Foolish it may be
But this dream’s on me
And it’s for you
Make it come true
Little jitterbug it’s dawn
Why dream a dream of Daddy’s horn
If you’re good and go to sleep
He will give you one to keep
Little jitterbug go sleep
(Musical Break)
Sonny, go to sleep
Swing will always keep
When you’re of age
You’ll top the page
Listen to your Ma
‘Cos she taught your Pa
His swing is true
Yours will be too
Little jitterbug it’s dawn, ah-ha-ha,
Dream a dream of Daddy’s horn
If you’re good and go to sleep
He will give you one to keep
Little jitterbug, go sleep,
Bei Mir Bist Du Shon
Of all the boys I've known, and I've known some
Until I first met you, I was lonesome
And when you came in sight, dear, my heart grew light
And this old world seemed new to me
You're really swell, I have to admit you
Deserve expressions that really fit you
And so I've racked my brain, hoping to explain
All the things that you do to me
Bei mir bist du schön, please let me explain
Bei mir bist du schön means you're grand
Bei mir bist du schön, again I'll explain
It means you're the fairest in the land
I could say "Bella, bella", even say "wunderbar"
Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are
I've tried to explain, bei mir bist du schön
So kiss me and say you understand
Bei mir bist du schön, you've heard it all before
but let me try to explain
Bei mir bist du schön means that you're grand
Bei mir bist du schön, it's such an old refrain
and yet I should explain
It means I am begging for your hand
I could say "Bella, bella", even say "wunderbar"
Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are
------ instrumental break ------
I could say "Bella, bella", even say "wunderbar"
Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are
I've tried to explain, bei mir bist du schön
When they begin, begin the beguine,
It brings back the sound of music so tender.
It brings back a night of tropical splendor.
It brings back a memory evergreen.
I'm with you once more, I'm with you under the stars,
Under the stars.
And down by the shore an orchestra's playin'.
And even the palms seem to be swayin', oh swayin',
When they begin, when they begin the beguine.
To live it again is past all endeavor,
Is past all endeavor.
Except when that tune clutches my heart,
Clutches my heart,
And there we are, swearing to love forever,
And promising never, never to part.
What moments divine, what rapture serene,
Till clouds came along to disperse the joys we had tasted.
And now when I hear people curse the chance that was wasted,
I know but too well, I know too well what they mean.
Too well what they mean.
So let them begin, begin the beguine.
Let the love that was once a fire remain an ember.
Let it sleep like the dead desire I only remember,
When they begin the beguine.
Oh, yes, let them begin the beguine, make them play,
Till the stars that were there before return above you.
Till you whisper to me once more, "Darling, I love you!"
And we suddenly know what heaven we're in,
When they begin, begin the beguine.
Begin beguine.
Begin beguine.
Begin beguine.
Dada dadada da-da da-da la-dada-dat.
Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar
In a little honky-tonky village in Texas
There's a guy who plays the best piano by far
He can play piano any way that you like it
But the way he likes to play is eight to the bar
When he plays, it's a ball
He's the daddy of them all
The people gather around when he gets on the stand
Then when he plays, he gets a hand
The rhythm he beats puts the cats in a trance
Nobody there bothers to dance
But when he plays with the bass and guitar
They holler out, "Beat me Daddy, eight to the bar"
A-plink, a-plank, a-plink plank, plink plank
A-plunkin' on the keys
A-riff, a-raff, a-riff raff, riff raff
A-riffin' out with ease
And when he plays with the bass and guitar
They holler out, "Beat me Daddy, eight to the bar"
He plays a boogie, he plays eight to the bar
A boogie-woogie, that is the way he likes to play on his piano
And we all know
That when he plays he puts them all in a trance
The cats all holler "Hooray"
You'll hear them say, "Beat me Daddy, eight to the bar"
----- instrumental break -----
In a little honky-tonky village in Texas
There's a guy who plays the best piano by far
When he plays with the bass and guitar
They holler, "Beat me up Daddy, beat me Daddy, eight to the bar"
The people gather around when he gets up on the stand
Then when he plays, he gets a hand
The rhythm that he plays puts the cats in a trance
Nobody there ever bothers to dance
But when he plays with the bass and guitar

Aurora comes from rio de janeiro
She dances in a little street cafe.
And when you're down in rio de janeiro
Here's what you'll hear each latin lover say.
Refrain:
You're a sweet heart in a million
Oh oh oh oooh (be mine oh oh) aurora
With your manner so brazilian
Oh oh oh oooh (be mine oh oh) aurora (be mine)
When you smile and call me honey
Oh oh oh oooh (be mine oh oh ) aurora
Is it me or just my money?
Oh oh oh oooh aurora (be mine)
I'll buy you this and buy you that
If you'll be true to me.
I'll even rent a cottage
And present you with the key.
So if you'll marry me
And be my sweet senora.
Oh oh oh oh aurora, aurora
Be mine, be mine, be mine
You're a sweet heart in a million
Ha ha ha ha aurora
With your manner so brazilian
Ha ha ha ha aurora
When you smile and call me honey
Ha ha ha ha aurora
Is it me or just my money?
Ha ha ha ha aurora
(ad-lib - instrumental)
Repeat refrain
Oh oh oh oooh aurora , aurora
Come on and hear (2x), alexander's ragtime band,
Come on and hear (2x), it's the best band in the land!
They can play a bugle call like you never heard before,
So natural that you want to go to war--
That's just the bestest band what am, honey lamb!
Come on along (2x), let me take you by the hand
Up to the man (2x), who's the leader of the band,
And if you want to hear the swanee river played in ragtime
