Exploración Maya 13, Uxmal, Yucatán, Eduardo González Arce
Marzo 3, 2011 4ta visita a mi sitio Maya explorado # 13.

Pre-Hispanic Town of Uxmal (UNESCO/NHK)
The Mayan town of Uxmal, in Yucatán, was founded c. AD 700 and had some 25000 inhabitants. The layout of the buildings, which date from between 700 and 1000, reveals a knowledge of astronomy. The Pyramid of the Soothsayer, as the Spaniards called it, dominates the ceremonial centre, which has well-designed buildings decorated with a profusion of symbolic motifs and sculptures depicting Chaac, the god of rain. Uxmal Mayan Ruins, in Mexico's Yucatan, near Merida
The Mayan city of Uxmal ("oosh-mahl", meaning "thrice-built") in the Yucatan was the capital of the Late Classic Mayan state that flourished between 850-925 AD. Uxmal is considered one of the best examples of Puuc architecture, which is named for the nearby hills and characterized by simple stone structures at ground level topped by elaborate horizontal stone carvings of serpents, birds, and the hawk-nosed rain god Chac. Its three main structures are the Pyramid of the Magician, the Nunnery Quadrangle, and the Governor's Palace, with many more smaller sites scattered through the 150 acres of excavated and restored ruins. Uxmal is located about an hour away from Merida, the present day capital of the State of Yucatan in Mexico. Day tours are available form Merida, including one that departs at noon and returns at 11:30 pm, allowing a half-day exploration of the ruins, followed by dinner, and a Light and Sound show that features a narrated pageant about the history of the Maya while high-intensity spotlights illuminate the ruins in a kaleidoscope of color. UXMAL Yucatan, Mexico
Surrounded by nature and located 80 km south of the Mexican city of Merida, is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Yucatan, Uxmal. Legend has it that, the 38 m high Pyramid of the Magician, or Pyramid of the Dwarf, was given its name because it was believed that it had, in just one night, been built by a dwarf. Uxmal is believed to be a classic example of Puuc architecture and is therefore a historic relic of ancient Mayan culture. Little is known about the exact history of this city but it is thought that it flourished mainly between the 8th and 11th century. According to archaeologists, Uxmal's most important buildings were built during this period. Adjacent to the Pyramid of the Magician is the Nunnery Quadrangle, a rectangular building that was given its name by the Spanish. This building, with its large inner courtyard and tiny doorways, was mistakenly thought by the Spanish to have been modeled on a European convent. It was actually built during several different epochs. The magnificent and elegant Governors' Palace is decorated with an immense variety of stone mosaics and masks of the rain god, Chac, and architecturally is among the most beautiful of Mayan structures. The old Mayan buildings merge harmoniously with the beautiful Mexican landscape and create an unforgettable impression of this unique cultural period of Latin America's history.

Zona Arqueologica, Uxmal, Yucatan

UXMAL: Tenochtitlan Templo Mayor
This Tenochtitlan video is part 12 of 18 videos from PILGRIMAGE INTO THE HEART OF ANAHUAC, A Project of the Mexica Movement.Pilgrimage Into The Heart of Anahuac is a series of video lectures by the Mexica Movement. Mexica Movement is a Nican Tlaca (Indigenous) Rights Educational Organization for people of Mexican, "Central American", "Native American", First Nation People, and all Nican Tlaca people of the "Western Hemisphere" ("North America"). The Purpose of these videos, and of the Mexica Movement, is to enlighten our people and the rest of the world on our heritage. We want the world to know of the overall beauty and genius of our Nican Tlaca Anahuac heritage, and of the crimes and terrorism of European colonialism over the last 500 years. We want the world to know that Europeans intentionally killed 95% of our population (70-100 million of our people) in the largest holocaust in the history of the world. They did this genocide with the use of smallpox as a weapon of mass destruction. These are just some of the subjects in our videos: **Over 4000 years of Anahuac civilizations: Olmecs, Zapotec, Teotihuacan, Maya, Toltec, Mexica, and other civilizations and cultures ** Unity of all Nican Tlaca (Indigenous) people of the "Western Hemisphere". **Identity for people of Mexican, "Central American", "Native American", First Nation People, and all Nican Tlaca of the "Western Hemisphere". **False Hispanic and Latino labels. **Explaining why Full-blood and Mixed-blood people ...

MAYA CHICHEN ITZA UXMAL EDZNA MEXICO ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ www.our-holiday-travel.com
PLEASE VISIT www.our-holiday-travel.com The Maya civilization is a Mesoamerican civilization, noted for the only known fully developed written language of the pre-Columbian Americas, as well as its spectacular art, monumental architecture, and sophisticated mathematical and astronomical systems. Initially established during the Preclassic period, many of these reached their apogee of development during the Classic period (c. 250 CE to 900 CE), and continued throughout the Postclassic period until the arrival of the Spanish. At its peak, it was one of the most densely populated and culturally dynamic societies in the world. Merida is a very famous city for the large number of Mayan ruins which are found in the proximity of this city. It is an old Spanish colonial city with stunning architecture. There are so many interesting tours that can be done here, but one that is very special is the tour to Chiche'n Itza' . An archaeological Mayan site used as a commercial, religious and military centre in its day. http One of the pyramids in this site called El Castillo has recently been declared as one of the wonders of the world. This step-pyramid is in the middle of the site and dominates the whole place. Every year at the time of the equinox the sun produces a shadow that recreates the body of the serpent with the head at the base of the stairs. Each year thousands of people from all over the globe venture to Chichen Itza to marvel at this solar event. The coastal town of ...
