Rembrandt
Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (/ˈrɛmbrænt, -brɑːnt/;Dutch: [ˈrɛmbrɑnt ˈɦɑrmə(n)soːn vɑn ˈrɛin]; 15 July 1606 – 4 October 1669) was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art and the most important in Dutch history. His contributions to art came in a period of great wealth and cultural achievement that historians call the Dutch Golden Age when Dutch Golden Age painting, although in many ways antithetical to the Baroque style that dominated Europe, was extremely prolific and innovative, and gave rise to important new genres in painting.
Having achieved youthful success as a portrait painter, Rembrandt's later years were marked by personal tragedy and financial hardships. Yet his etchings and paintings were popular throughout his lifetime, his reputation as an artist remained high, and for twenty years he taught many important Dutch painters. Rembrandt's greatest creative triumphs are exemplified especially in his portraits of his contemporaries, self-portraits and illustrations of scenes from the Bible. His self-portraits form a unique and intimate biography, in which the artist surveyed himself without vanity and with the utmost sincerity.

Rembrandt (1940 film)
Rembrandt is a 1940 Dutch film directed by Gerard Rutten. It portrays the life of the Dutch artist Rembrandt (1606-1669). He had previously been played by Charles Laughton in the 1936 film Rembrandt. A 1942 German film was also made, starring Ewald Balser.

Rembrandt is a 1936 British biographical film made by London Film Productions of the life of 17th-century Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn. The film was produced and directed by Alexander Korda from a screenplay by June Head and Lajos Bíró based on a story by Carl Zuckmayer. The music score was by Geoffrey Toye and the cinematography by Georges Périnal.

Alexander Korda had previously worked with Laughton on the critically successful The Private Life of Henry VIII. Laughton's wife, Elsa Lanchester, has a role in the film as Hendrickje, Rembrandt's maid who also became his lover.

His contributions to art came in a period of great wealth and cultural achievement that historians call the Dutch Golden Age, when Dutch art (especially Dutch painting), although in many ways antithetical to the Baroque style that dominated Europe, was extremely prolific and innovative and gave rise to important new genres. Like many artists of the Dutch Golden Age, such as Jan Vermeer of Delft, Rembrandt was also an avid art collector and dealer.

Nowadays there is no reputable art collection of distinction which does not contain a genuine “Rembrandt”. With Rembrandts portraits, the Dutch artist seemed to directly capture people's souls.
Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, born in 1606 as a miller’s son, changed the world of painting like no other. But who was this baroque genius Rembrandt who enchanted people through the centuries? His biography is riddled with strokes of fate and family perplexities, and when the art titan Rembrandt died at the age of 63, he was a lonely, impoverished, and misunderstood outlaw.
This documentary traces Rembrandts roots in his Dutch homeland and closely observes one of the greatest research and conservation projects in art history, "Operation Nightwatch" in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
Furthermore, this art documentary sheds light on the events that shaped the life path of the artist Rembrandt. In particular, one of his early masterpieces, "The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp," is highlighted.
It is demonstrated that the artist Rembrandt stood out due to his extraordinary ability to masterfully capture light and shadow in his art, allowing him to depict emotions in an outstanding manner.

Rembrandt was a Dutch draughtsman, painter, and printmaker. An innovative and prolific master in three media, he is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art and the most important in Dutch art history. Unlike most Dutch masters of the 17th century, Rembrandt's works depict a wide range of style and subject matter, from portraits and self-portraits to landscapes, genre scenes, allegorical and historical scenes, and biblical and mythological themes as well as animal studies. His contributions to art came in a period of great wealth and cultural achievement that historians call the Dutch Golden Age, when Dutch art (especially Dutch painting), although in many ways antithetical to the Baroque style that dominated Europe, was extremely prolific and innovative and gave rise to important new genres. Like many artists of the Dutch Golden Age, such as Jan Vermeer of Delft, Rembrandt was also an avid art collector and dealer.

Iremos analisar a história do quadro, o seu simbolismo e composição, mas sem descurar alguns elementos filosóficos.

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (/ˈrɛmbrænt, -brɑːnt/;Dutch: [ˈrɛmbrɑnt ˈɦɑrmə(n)soːn vɑn ˈrɛin]; 15 July 1606 – 4 October 1669) was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art and the most important in Dutch history. His contributions to art came in a period of great wealth and cultural achievement that historians call the Dutch Golden Age when Dutch Golden Age painting, although in many ways antithetical to the Baroque style that dominated Europe, was extremely prolific and innovative, and gave rise to important new genres in painting.
Having achieved youthful success as a portrait painter, Rembrandt's later years were marked by personal tragedy and financial hardships. Yet his etchings and paintings were popular throughout his lifetime, his reputation as an artist remained high, and for twenty years he taught many important Dutch painters. Rembrandt's greatest creative triumphs are exemplified especially in his portraits of his contemporaries, self-portraits and illustrations of scenes from the Bible. His self-portraits form a unique and intimate biography, in which the artist surveyed himself without vanity and with the utmost sincerity.
