Vaishnavism (Vaisnava dharma) is one of the major branches of Hinduism along with Shaivism, Smartism and Shaktism. It is focused on the veneration of Vishnu. Vaishnavites, or the followers of the Vishnu, lead a way of life promoting the central importance of Vishnu and his ten avatars.
Followers worship Vishnu, the Supreme Lord and preserver of the Hindu Trimurti ('three images', the Trinity), and his ten avatars, including Rama and Krishna. The adherents of this sect are generally monastic and devoted to meditative practice and ecstatic chanting. They are deeply devotional. Vaishnavism is rich in saints, temples and scriptures.
Its beliefs and practices, especially the concepts of Bhakti and Bhakti Yoga, are based largely on the Upanishads, and associated with the Vedas and Puranic texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, and the Padma Purana, Vishnu Purana and Bhagavata Purana.
Bhagavatism, early Ramaism and Krishnaism merged in historical Vishnuism, a tradition of historical Vedic religion, distinguished from other traditions by its primary worship of Vishnu. Vaishnavism is historically the first structured Vaishnava religion as "Vishnuism, in a word, is the only cultivated native sectarian religion of India." Although it is usual to speak of Vishnu as the source of the Avatar, this is only one of the names by which the god of Vaishnavism is known. The other names include Narayana, Vasudeva, Rama and Krishna; each the name of a divine figure with attributed supremacy, which each associated tradition of Vaishnavism believes to be distinct. For example, in the Krishnaism branch of Vaishnavism, such as the Gaudiya Vaishnava, Nimbarka and Vallabhacharya traditions, devotees worship Krishna as the One Supreme form of God, and source of all avatars, Svayam Bhagavan, in contrast to the belief of the devotees of the Sri Sampradaya.
IAST: abhaya-caraṇāravinda bhakti-vedānta svāmī prabhupāda; 1 September 1896 – 14 November 1977) was a Gaudiya Vaishnava spiritual teacher (guru) and the founder preceptor (acharya) of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), commonly known as the "Hare Krishna Movement". His mission was to propagate Gaudiya Vaishnavism, a school of Vaishnavite Hinduism that had been taught to him by his guru, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, throughout the world. Born Abhay Charan De in Calcutta, he was educated at the prestigious local Scottish Church College. Before adopting the life of a pious renunciant (vanaprastha) in 1950, he was married with children and owned a small pharmaceutical business.
In 1959 he took a vow of renunciation (sannyasa) and started writing commentaries on Vaishnava scriptures. In his later years, as a traveling Vaishnava monk, he became an influential communicator of Gaudiya Vaishnava theology to India and specifically to the West through his leadership of ISKCON, founded in 1966. As the founder of ISKCON, he "emerged as a major figure of the Western counterculture, initiating thousands of young Americans." Despite attacks from anti-cult groups, he received a favorable welcome from many religious scholars, such as J. Stillson Judah, Harvey Cox, Larry Shinn and Thomas Hopkins, who praised Bhaktivedanta Swami's translations and defended the group against distorted media images and misinterpretations. In respect to his achievements, religious leaders from other Gaudiya Vaishnava movements have also given him credit.
Krishna (/ˈkrɪʃnə/; Sanskrit: कृष्ण, Kṛṣṇa in IAST, pronounced [ˈkr̩ʂɳə]) is a Hindu deity, worshipped across many traditions of Hinduism in a variety of different perspectives. Krishna is recognized as the complete and eighth avatar of the God Vishnu or as the Supreme God in his own right. Krishna is one of the most widely revered and popular of all Hindu deities.
Krishna is known by many names such as Kishan, Makhanchor, and Kanha. Krishna is often described and portrayed as an infant eating butter, a young boy playing a flute as in the Bhagavata Purana, a young man along with Radha or as an elder giving direction and guidance as in the Bhagavad Gita. The stories of Krishna appear across a broad spectrum of Hindu philosophical and theological traditions. They portray him in various perspectives: a god-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero, and the Supreme Being. The principal scriptures discussing Krishna's story are the Mahabharata, the Harivamsa, the Bhagavata Purana, and the Vishnu Purana.

Q. What is the line of distinction between a Brahmana and a Vaishnava? A. 1. Vaishnavas are pure devotees of Lord Krishna/Vishnu. Brahmanas may not be. 2. Vaishnavas are beyond the modes of nature (i.e Ignorance Passion & even Goodness) or in other words they are liberated souls enjoying spiritual happiness in shudh bhakti in purified Goodness. Brahmanas are in Goodness and thus bound in material world or samsara, knowledge or gyan and happiness or sattva guna. 3. Vaishnavas know Brahman, Paramatma & Bhagavan. Brahmana knows only Brahman(Spirit) 4. The 10th Canto of Shrimad Bhagavatam contains a chapter where Caste Yagnic brahmanas were approached by Balaram and the cowherd boys for food, but the brahmanas didn’t recognize their Lord. However their wives exactly knew who Krishna and Bal...

Jagadananda Prabhu recounts how he had been sent out by the ISKCON Mayapur leaders to fulfill one of Srila Prabhupada's last wishes: To visit all senior Vaishnava devotees, especially his Godbrothers, to offer them a donation and to beg for forgiveness for any offense that he may have committed to them. Although many of them had earlier received negative statements by Srila Prabhupada, all devotees whom Jagadananda Prabhu had met were extremely humble and friendly. They said that there was no offense committed and glorified Srila Prabhupada’s preaching achievements. Note: This video is meant to glorify Srila Prabhupada by showing how he set the example of a true sadhu by apologizing to all Vaishnavas he might have offended and trying to harmonize relationships with other devotees befor...

¡HARE KRISHNA!
Question: Why do Vaishnavas keep a shikha? Answer: Sikha is an integral part of a Vaishnava’s appearance. Just as a policeman has his uniform that distinguishes him from ordinary citizens, or a businessman has his own business attire, the sikha along with other things, distinguishes a Vaishnava from ordinary people, especially Mayavadis. The Puranas explain that the spiritual master rescues his disciple by pulling his sikha when he sees the disciple slipping into maya. [For more details, visit - www.harekrishnatube.com] #laxmi

There are four bonafide vaishanava sampradayas – all starting from Vishnu or Krishna. These are Brahma Sampradaya, Laxmi Sampradaya, Siva Sampradaya & Kumar Sampradaya The focus of Gaudiya Vaishnavism is the devotional worship (bhakti yoga) of Radha and Krishna, and their many divine incarnations as the supreme forms of God – Svayam Bhagavan. Most popularly, this worship takes the form of chanting or singing Radha and Krishna's holy names, such as "Hare", "Krishna" and "Rama", most commonly in the form of the Hare Krishna mahamantra. The movement is also referred to as the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya sampradaya, referring to its traditional origins in the succession of spiritual masters (gurus) originating from Lord Brahma. It classifies itself as a monotheistic tradition, seeing the many forms ...
