Pro-European parties triumph in Dutch elections
Prime Minister Mark Rutte claimed victory in the Dutch elections, after voters in the Netherlands strongly backed the pro-European parties. Rutte's liberal VVD party won the most seats, with the centre-left labour party a close second. As the parties favouring pan-European co-operation did well in the polls, it was the Freedom Party headed by notorious politician Geert Wilders that suffered disappointment. The right-wing, Eurosceptic and anti-Islam party looked on course to win only 15 seats, nine less than in the last elections. The Liberals and Labour have enough seats to form a coalition government, but will need to come to an agreement over how to solve the Eurozone crisis. Mr Rutte's policy is similar to that of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, imposing strict austerity measures designed to bring down the country's deficit. The Labour party meanwhile favour increasing spending and raising taxes on the rich. Written and presented by Alfred Joyner

europa - Dutch far-right poised for EU gain
The Kingdom of the Netherlands is also voting in the European Parliamentary election on Thursday, with the far-right Party for Freedom (PVV) expected to make an impact with its anti-immigration platform. While appealing to many voters, its leader, Geert Wilders, a strong critic of Islam, has also been widely criticised. His party was not represented in the outgoing European Parliament but is expected to win several seats. A recent poll put the main establishment parties the Christian Democrats (CDA) and the Labour Party (PdvA), ruling in coalition, neck and neck. It said they would lose some seats. The pro-European D66 are predicted to make gains. The Liberals, Socialists, GroenLinks and ChristenUnie/SGP have mixed prospects. It was Dutch voters who rejected the EU draft constitution in a referendum in 2005, as did the French. They will be sending 25 members to the European Parliament.

Netherlands looks to mainstream in poll
Netherlands looks to mainstream in poll Election day in the Netherlands. The country is one of the hardliners in the euro currency zone, when it comes to aid for crisis-struck members, like Greece, or Spain. Will there be a eurosceptic upswing causing disruption to plans for greater North-to-South help? Many are breathing a sigh of relief that the mainstream pro-euro Labour and Liberal parties look likely to be the big winners. Caretaker Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Liberal Party cast his vote early Wednesday. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTING PRIME MINISTER OF THE NETHERLANDS, MARK RUTTE, SAYING: "It's all about staying on course, and staying on course with making the Netherlands stronger and coming out of this crisis stronger. There is a real choice in this election." Rutte is however in a tight race to stay ahead of Diederik Samsom of the Labour Party, seen here voting with his wife and two young children. The hard-left Socialist Party and the anti-Islam Freedom Party are expected in third and fourth. All parties have shied away from talks about coalitions. About a fifth of Dutch voters say they are still undecided, so there may be be surprises.

Dutch far-right breakthrough met with Muslim disbelief
Watch an enhanced video at www.videocrux.com . A far-right party campaigning on an anti-Islam platform came out strong in local polls in the Netherlands Wednesday, in what some observers say is a taste of general elections to come. Geert Wilder's far-right MP's Party for Freedom came first and second in the only two of 394 municipalities it contested, while the Christian Democratic and Labour parties lost support, according to early results. National polls are being held on June 9, following the collapse of the ruling coalition two weeks ago.

[VEDIM 2010 #28]: The Crowd Server
FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com TWITTER: twitter.com After deconstructing a dam, I am ready to rumble about making peace with RENETTO after a clarifying comment of his, and the second semi-final of the Eurovision song contest. I also weld a link between the Israeli entry and Job Cohen, as I tell about my personal story concerning the new political leader of the Dutch labour party (Partij van de Arbeid). Things get seriously serene after reasoning about losing IQ points, and the projects I never completed. If videologging is a contact sport, then maybe I scored an honorary goal, in injury time. Ouch! Rwandans discuss peace in the Hague 26-04-2008
Hundreds of Rwandans met on Saturday 26 April in the Dutch Capital the Hague to talk of Peace in their country. I should rather say to talk of peaces as the notion of peace is viewed differently by the Hutu and Tutsi communities. On the one hand, Hutus from all over Europe and a number of Europeans, were patiently and silently queuing in front of the ICJ, where a heavy police presence could be seen. On the other hand were Tutsi protestors, who were having banners announcing that the Peace Palace, the seat of the UN Court of Justice was not appropriate for the Peace Conference. Unfortunately, protestors refused to answer my questions, preferring to direct me to their leader who had their official message. Paul Rusesabagina, the man who inspired the Hollywood movie Hotel Rwanda was the key speaker of the day The public was given a chance to ask questions, even though many of them remained unanswered. Among other key speakers was Rober Krueger, former Senator who served as US Ambassador to Burundi from 1994 to 1995. Kruger said that bringing president Kagame and other criminals to court would lead nowhere. What I want from him is confession, he said. Belgian Christian de Beule, founder of SOS Rwanda-Burundi and Dutch Labour Party MP Chantal Gillard also spoke, both emphasizing the need for peace, justice and reconciliation in the Great Lakes Region. The reality at this moment is that some Rwandans think they have made a giant step towards justice inside the symbolic premises ...
