Fort Belvedere, Surrey
Fort Belvedere (originally Shrubs Hill Tower) is a Grade II* listed country house on Shrubs Hill in Windsor Great Park, in Surrey, England. The fort was predominantly constructed by Jeffry Wyatville in a Gothic Revival style in the 1820s.
The fort was occupied by numerous members of the British royal family and associated personages from 1750 to 1976. From 1929 Fort Belvedere was the home of Edward, Prince of Wales, who greatly renovated the house and grounds, and was the site of Edward's abdication as King in 1936. The property remains part of the Crown Estate, and is home to private tenants. It is not open to the public.
Location
The Fort Belvedere estate is situated in the extreme south end of Windsor Great Park in the parish of Egham, in the Borough of Runnymede in Surrey. Though in Surrey, the closest town to the fort is Sunningdale in Berkshire. The fort is situated on Shrub's Hill and overlooks Virginia Water. The fort is 22 miles from London, and Edward, Prince of Wales, would boast of being able to see London's St Paul's Cathedral "through a spy-glass" from the fort in the 1930s.

Berkshire
Berkshire (/ˈbɑːrkʃər/ or /ˈbɑːrkʃɪər/, abbreviated Berks) is a county of south east England, located to the west of London. It has also been known as the Royal County of Berkshire since at least the 19th century because of the presence of Windsor Castle and was recognised as such by the Queen in 1957 and letters patent issued in 1974. Berkshire is a county of historic origin and is both a ceremonial county and a non-metropolitan county without a county council. Berkshire County Council was the main county governance from 1889 to 1998 except for the separately administered County Borough of Reading.
In 1974, significant alterations were made to the county's administrative boundaries although the traditional boundaries of Berkshire were not changed. The towns of Abingdon, Didcot and Wantage were transferred to Oxfordshire, Slough was gained from Buckinghamshire and the separate administration of Reading was ended. Since 1998, Berkshire has been governed by the six unitary authorities of Bracknell Forest, Reading, Slough, West Berkshire, Windsor and Maidenhead and Wokingham. It borders the counties of Oxfordshire (to the north), Buckinghamshire (to the north-east), Greater London (to the east), Surrey (to the south-east), Wiltshire (to the west) and Hampshire (to the south).

Berkshire (soil)
Berkshire soil series is the name given to a well drained loam or sandy loam soil which has developed on glacial till in parts of southern Quebec, eastern New York State and New England south to Massachusetts. It belongs to the podzol soil group and is one of the most important soils in its area of occurrence, supporting extensive forests and a fair number of farms. Many Berkshire soils lack the eluvial (E) horizon characteristic of podzols because they have a history of being cleared for cultivation.
Geology
The deep glacial till which provides the foundation of the Berkshire series contains material derived from mica schist with fragments of gneiss, granite and phyllite also present in some areas. These rocks are not high in mineral nutrients but provide enough fine-grained material to produce a loamy soil.
Agriculture
Cleared areas of the Berkshire series support a livestock industry with an emphasis on dairying. Grasses, legumes and silage corn are raised for cattle food. These crops are likely to need lime and fertilizer for optimum growth. Potatoes are also grown; they are well adapted to the Berkshire's natural acidity. Many Berkshire soils, however, are too rough and stony for easy cultivation and have been allowed to revert to forest.

Berkshire pig
Berkshire pigs are a rare breed of pig originating from the English county of Berkshire.
Herds of the breed are still maintained in England by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust at Aldenham Country Park, Hertfordshire, and by the South of England Rare Breeds Centre in Kent. The Berkshire is listed as vulnerable; as of 2008 fewer than 300 breeding sows were known to exist. Some pigs of the breed are also kept in New Zealand and Australia, but it is estimated that there are now fewer than a hundred purebred sows there.
In the United States, the American Berkshire Association, established in 1875, gives pedigrees only to pigs directly imported from established English herds or to those tracing directly back to such imported animals. The pig is also bred in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, under the trademarked name Kagoshima Kurobuta (かごしま黒豚, lit. Kagoshima black pig).
Culinary uses
Berkshire pork, prized for juiciness, flavour and tenderness, is pink-hued and heavily marbled. Its high fat content makes it suitable for long cooking and high-temperature cooking.

02:11 Lamb Nappa Leather
An incredibly soft, supple leather. It works really well for fine men's gloves because it creates smooth, clean lines that produce an elegant look. Our lamb Nappa gloves come in lined and unlined styles which all feature a machine finished stitch for a clean, slim, and flawless look
04:40 Suede Leather
It is a fantastic leather that is very matte, and it really works on both casual outfits or if you want a slightly different look.
05:48 Peccary Leather
It is expensive but if you want the best of the best, it’s definitely worth it. The skins we used for our Fort Belvedere leather gloves are harvested under strict CITES regulations. Because the animals are wild, every skin will have individual scuffs and marks, which are the true hallmark of the genuine product. They’re not a defect.
Genuine peccary is defined by its characteristic three-pong pores and the creases which are different from a regular, much-less expensive skin leather for example which are not nearly as soft and as flexible.

QUALITY one of the things that Fort Belvedere does not skimp on is quality, they pay attention to the details that even some quality companies overlook, to ensure the piece is not only going to last you a long time but will also look great when it’s tied. But how do you know if something is quality?
EDUCATION This another space where Raphael sets himself apart, while most youtubers were educating fellas on different products by other companies, Gentleman’s Gazette weaves in it’s own brand into the educational components helping us learn about the tie while learning why we should buy their product.

In this video we show you how you cut your Fort Belvedere belt to size so it fits you perfectly:
You need:
1. Measuring tape
2. Sharp scissors or sharp knife and cutting board
Fort Belvedere belt system combines the highest quality men's leather belts with interchangeable solid brass buckles, custom fit to your size so you have a near-infinite range of belt options. Every buckle is hand made in Italy of solid brass and then heavily gold or palladium plated so it can be worn for years with any belt of your choosing. The belts are handmade in Portugal from German and Italian leathers. All belts are lined in Fort Belvedere green contrast Saffiano leather.
At Fort Belvedere, belts are 120cm - 47 inches long and it can be cut to size so it fits you perfectly. Ideally, you want to cut it so you can close it in the middle hole. If you gain a bit of weight, or lose some you can still use the belt as is. If you lose a lot of weight, you can simply shorten the belt. If you gain a lot of weight, you can keep all the buckles and just get a few new belts and you are good to go again.
A Fort Belvedere belt will give you a better fit for your body and it will be less expensive to make changes to your system in case you gain weight. Losing weight is not a problem at all.
Overall, you will be able to mix and match every buckle with every belt, now and in the future with the Fort Belvedere belt system. So as we are adding more leather belts and buckles, you will have a staggering number of options even if you invest in just a handful of buckles and belts. All belts come in one length, and you can cut them down to your liking. They look super neat and just like a regular high-end belt with folded edges.

At Fort Belvedere, belts are 120cm - 47 inches long and it can be cut to size so it fits you perfectly. Ideally, you want to cut it so you can close it in the middle hole. If you gain a bit of weight, or lose some you can still use the belt as is. If you lose a lot of weight, you can simply shorten the belt. If you gain a lot of weight, you can keep all the buckles and just get a few new belts and you are good to go again.
A Fort Belvedere belt will give you a better fit for your body and it will be less expensive to make changes to your system in case you gain weight. Losing weight is not a problem at all.
Overall, you will be able to mix and match every buckle with every belt, now and in the future with the Fort Belvedere belt system. So as we are adding more leather belts and buckles, you will have a staggering number of options even if you invest in just a handful of buckles and belts. All belts come in one length, and you can cut them down to your liking. They look super neat and just like a regular high-end belt with folded edges.

Susan Dziubinski: I’m Susan Dziubinski with Morningstar. Morningstar recently downgraded the economic moat rating on Berkshire Hathaway BRK.A BRK.B to narrow moat from wide moat. As a result, is it time to sell the stock?
Let’s talk about the downgrade first. As a refresher, Morningstar’s economic moat ratings indicate how long we think a company will be able to fight off competitors and out-earn its cost of capital. Companies with wide economic moat ratings are those that we expect to out-earn their costs of capital for 20 years or more. Those companies that receive narrow economic moat ratings, well we expect those companies to generate excess returns for a decade or more.
When it comes to Berkshire Hathaway specifically, our moat rating comes from an evaluation of each of the firm’s individual businesses, combined with our assessment of management’s ability to produce excess returns from the cash flows that these businesses generate. Historically, Berkshire’s underlying businesses have provided a narrow economic moat and management’s investment prowess had pushed the firm’s overall economic moat rating to wide.
But today, it’s harder to see Berkshire generating excess returns consistently beyond the next decade. That’s not just because of Berkshire CEO Warren Buffett’s eventual departure. Rather, we’re seeing some slippage in the moats in the railroad business, as well as increased litigation exposure for the utilities/energy business, which put downward pressure on excess returns for Berkshire’s noninsurance operations. Berkshire’s size has also made it difficult to find deals or investments that can add significant value, and there’s increased competition for those deals from private capital. Those factors diminish the potential benefits ahead from management’s ongoing capital allocation.
Does that mean it’s time to sell Berkshire Hathaway’s stock? Not necessarily. The stocks of companies that have undergone moat rating changes can still be overvalued or undervalued. In other words, a moat rating change isn’t a buy or a sell signal. What matters is where a given stock is trading relative to Morningstar’s fair value estimate. And these days, Berkshire Hathaway stock is trading right around our fair value estimates for both its A shares and its B shares. So no, the stock isn’t a sell according to Morningstar’s metrics – it’s a hold.

02:11 Lamb Nappa Leather
An incredibly soft, supple leather. It works really well for fine men's gloves because it creates smooth, clean lines that produce an elegant look. Our lamb Nappa gloves come in lined and unlined styles which all feature a machine finished stitch for a clean, slim, and flawless look

It is a fantastic leather that is very matte, and it really works on both casual outfits or if you want a slightly different look.

It is expensive but if you want the best of the best, it’s definitely worth it. The skins we used for our Fort Belvedere leather gloves are harvested under strict CITES regulations. Because the animals are wild, every skin will have individual scuffs and marks, which are the true hallmark of the genuine product. They’re not a defect.
Genuine peccary is defined by its characteristic three-pong pores and the creases which are different from a regular, much-less expensive skin leather for example which are not nearly as soft and as flexible.

Today we’re going to be talking about 5 reasons you should be watching the Gentleman’s Gazette’s Brand Fort Belvedere. What’s up all you good fella fly guys? Mensfluential has been over for about two weeks now and I’m still inspired and energized from what I learned and although I made some great connections and networks and met some fellas I look up to in the industry there was one guy I didn’t get to meet and that was Raphael Schnieder of Gentlemen’s Gazette who couldn’t attend. QUALITY one of the things that Fort Belvedere does not skimp on is quality, they pay attention to the details that even some quality companies overlook, to ensure the piece is not only going to last you a long time but will also look great when it’s tied. But how do you know if something is quality?

In this video we show you how you cut your Fort Belvedere belt to size so it fits you perfectly:
You need:
1. Measuring tape
2. Sharp scissors or sharp knife and cutting board
Fort Belvedere belt system combines the highest quality men's leather belts with interchangeable solid brass buckles, custom fit to your size so you have a near-infinite range of belt options. Every buckle is hand made in Italy of solid brass and then heavily gold or palladium plated so it can be worn for years with any belt of your choosing. The belts are handmade in Portugal from German and Italian leathers. All belts are lined in Fort Belvedere green contrast Saffiano leather.
At Fort Belvedere, belts are 120cm - 47 inches long and it can be cut to size so it fits you perfectly. Ideally, you want to cut it so you can close it in the middle hole. If you gain a bit of weight, or lose some you can still use the belt as is. If you lose a lot of weight, you can simply shorten the belt. If you gain a lot of weight, you can keep all the buckles and just get a few new belts and you are good to go again.
A Fort Belvedere belt will give you a better fit for your body and it will be less expensive to make changes to your system in case you gain weight. Losing weight is not a problem at all.
Overall, you will be able to mix and match every buckle with every belt, now and in the future with the Fort Belvedere belt system. So as we are adding more leather belts and buckles, you will have a staggering number of options even if you invest in just a handful of buckles and belts. All belts come in one length, and you can cut them down to your liking. They look super neat and just like a regular high-end belt with folded edges.

Fort Belvedere, Surrey
Fort Belvedere (originally Shrubs Hill Tower) is a Grade II* listed country house on Shrubs Hill in Windsor Great Park, in Surrey, England. The fort was predominantly constructed by Jeffry Wyatville in a Gothic Revival style in the 1820s.
The fort was occupied by numerous members of the British royal family and associated personages from 1750 to 1976. From 1929 Fort Belvedere was the home of Edward, Prince of Wales, who greatly renovated the house and grounds, and was the site of Edward's abdication as King in 1936. The property remains part of the Crown Estate, and is home to private tenants. It is not open to the public.
Location
The Fort Belvedere estate is situated in the extreme south end of Windsor Great Park in the parish of Egham, in the Borough of Runnymede in Surrey. Though in Surrey, the closest town to the fort is Sunningdale in Berkshire. The fort is situated on Shrub's Hill and overlooks Virginia Water. The fort is 22 miles from London, and Edward, Prince of Wales, would boast of being able to see London's St Paul's Cathedral "through a spy-glass" from the fort in the 1930s.

Susan Dziubinski: I’m Susan Dziubinski with Morningstar. Morningstar recently downgraded the economic moat rating on Berkshire Hathaway BRK.A BRK.B to narrow moat from wide moat. As a result, is it time to sell the stock?
Let’s talk about the downgrade first. As a refresher, Morningstar’s economic moat ratings indicate how long we think a company will be able to fight off competitors and out-earn its cost of capital. Companies with wide economic moat ratings are those that we expect to out-earn their costs of capital for 20 years or more. Those companies that receive narrow economic moat ratings, well we expect those companies to generate excess returns for a decade or more.
When it comes to Berkshire Hathaway specifically, our moat rating comes from an evaluation of each of the firm’s individual businesses, combined with our assessment of management’s ability to produce excess returns from the cash flows that these businesses generate. Historically, Berkshire’s underlying businesses have provided a narrow economic moat and management’s investment prowess had pushed the firm’s overall economic moat rating to wide.
But today, it’s harder to see Berkshire generating excess returns consistently beyond the next decade. That’s not just because of Berkshire CEO Warren Buffett’s eventual departure. Rather, we’re seeing some slippage in the moats in the railroad business, as well as increased litigation exposure for the utilities/energy business, which put downward pressure on excess returns for Berkshire’s noninsurance operations. Berkshire’s size has also made it difficult to find deals or investments that can add significant value, and there’s increased competition for those deals from private capital. Those factors diminish the potential benefits ahead from management’s ongoing capital allocation.
Does that mean it’s time to sell Berkshire Hathaway’s stock? Not necessarily. The stocks of companies that have undergone moat rating changes can still be overvalued or undervalued. In other words, a moat rating change isn’t a buy or a sell signal. What matters is where a given stock is trading relative to Morningstar’s fair value estimate. And these days, Berkshire Hathaway stock is trading right around our fair value estimates for both its A shares and its B shares. So no, the stock isn’t a sell according to Morningstar’s metrics – it’s a hold.
