AN ANNULAR or partial solar eclipse will be visible at the western side of Cebu City on May 10, Raffy Tapales of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) told Sun.Star on Wednesday.
He said the eclipse may be witnessed around 6:50 a.m. to 7:18 a.m.
Tapales advised those who may want to see it to wear an eye protection, stressing the rays of the sun may cause severe eye damage.
An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the sun, creating an annulus or ring in the sky. Experts say it appears as a partial eclipse over a region thousands of kilometers wide. (Melmae Makiputin, Norsu Intern/Sunnex)
