#Healthcare: A History Of...(Our Modern Day System)
#Healthcare: A History Of...(Our Modern Day System)
The above is an exact history of Healthcare, In FACT, Modern Day Healthcare Here in The United States of America. Soon enough we will have national healthcare in this country, but we already have national healthcare in this country, and have had it since 1946 when then President Harry S. Truman signed into law something called The Hospital Survey Construction Act OR The Hill-Burton Act (SEE HERE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill-Burton_Act). In this act it became mandated law that all poor, elderly, indigent, disabled, disadvantaged, widowed, widower, orphan and or unwed/single mother could go to a hospital, health clinic or other necessary healthcare provider and for a nominal fee and or free get basic health needs met without cause or question. Additionally in this act it was mandated that every State In The Union provide a "reasonable place," for a hospital or medical clinic(s) to be built in the most "disadvantaged places in a respective area." This law, to date, has been on the federal legislative books AS IS since 1946 BUT IS NOT ENFORCED and has not bee enforced by this or any other modern day American Congress since. WHY? Health, MOREOVER Healthcare has been an on going issue in America since Thomas Jefferson was President, BUT it was not and did not become a "national problem," since Theodore Roosevelt tried to implement a national healthcare plan in his Square Deal Act. Such was met by loyal opposition in the Congress and ONLY could he provide national shovel ready jobs to the some 16 million Americans needing one. We fast forward into American History to his cousin Franklin D. Roosevelt who himself tried desperately and valiantly to provide national healthcare in his Fair Deal Act, but alas could only provide national shovel ready jobs and social savings to some 33 million Americans who were most in need. It was not until Harry S. Truman that national healthcare, nation wide healthcare, that the Government of the United States of America would provide, did become a reality via these two men (SEE HERE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lister_Hill AND HERE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Hitz_Burton) and there Hill-Burton Act. It should be noted that the national health insurance industry as well as the national healthcare industry itself is diametrically opposed to national healthcare even though they preach that they are all in favor of helping the POOR & the NEEDY. Organizations like The Kaiser Family Foundation/Kaiser Permanente (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiser_Family_Foundation) is a great case in point of that FACT (SEE HERE: http://horror.kaiserpapers.org/). DESPITE this fact many if not all concerned have soldiered on, enforcing or working to at least get Congress to enforce the law already on the books! One man who did was Mr. Booth Gardner, former Governor of Washington State (SEE HERE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Booth_Gardner) Booth Gardner said, in so many words, The Hill-Burton Act is the greatest modern day healthcare act that government can provide, and I am going to provide it right here to my people in Washington State, and he did through something called The Basic Healthcare Plan Act (SEE HERE: http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2020576771_gardnerobitxml.html) by state law EVERY COUNTY in Washington State had to provide a County Run Health Department. There by providing nominally priced and or free basic health services to the working poor and or the poor altogether. BECAUSE of men like Truman, Hill, Burton, and Gardner we have the modern day American Healthcare System. And yet there are those amongst us who feel this system old, outdated and or antiquated altogether, I guess, and have taken it upon themselves to, in my opinion, destroy what that has been created! To tear down, rather than to build up. Motives not withstanding they care very much for the poorest and neediest amongst us but in their caring and compassion they have trampled on and in fact removed, by judicious theot what that was and has already been working. WHY? This is, I believe, a question that must be asked and answered so that, and as we get into The Affordable Healthcare Act we can figure out how long this law will be on the books ONLY to not eventually be enforced. Thank you!- published: 29 Sep 2013
