Ron Lee compares Koali Nishigaya to Davone Bess
There are very few who ran routes and caught the football as reliably as Davone Bess. Ron Lee was Hawaii's wide receivers coach at the time, and now, back at Saint Louis as offensive coordinator, he draws a comparison between, who went on to play in the NFL, to current slotback Koali Nishigaya.
Nishigaya leads the nationally-ranked Crusaders (8-0) with 47 receptions for 699 yards and two touchdowns.

Ron Lee compares Koali Nishigaya to Chad Owens
There is no offensive coordinator with the track record and schematic mastery of Saint Louis' Ron Lee. There is also no other rags-to-riches story quite like Chad Owens when it comes to pass catchers. Koali Nishigaya, currently Saint Louis' leading receiver, might be on a similar path. Lee, who coached at Hawaii during that time, brought Owens to Hawaii as a walk-on before he became a phenom. He offers his comparison of the two playmakers. Nishigaya leads the nationally-ranked Crusaders (8-0) with 47 receptions for 699 yards and two touchdowns.

Ron Lee, Australian Veteran
Full transcript below:
This Anzac Day, we can all pause and reflect on Australians’ service and sacrifice in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
Ron Lee served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. But it’s his time with the Royal Australian Air Force in Malaysia and South-East Asia that he wants people to know about.
Ron reflects on the Malayan Emergency, a conflict during the 1950s and 60s that claimed some 40 Australian servicemen, with around 30 more wounded, but which many Australians are unaware of.
“I think because of that word, ‘emergency’, people don't look upon it as a war, which it really was. And the Malayan Borneo emergencies and the Indonesian Confrontation, it's a forgotten war. And it needs to be recognized because we served there for 13 years.
Just as they did in Vietnam and Korea and
Afghanistan, it was an all out war, bullets were real. They fought a real war and they deserve to be recognised because of it, because this was part of Australia's first defence line.
When we got there, it was quite a bit of a surprise to us because we didn't see an enemy. We didn't see army tanks running around the streets or soldiers running around with machine guns and things like that.
And we knew the communists were there right around us, even in the towns that we lived in, but we didn't know who they were. So it just wasn't like a war. That was strange. Quite often we often wondered whether we were going to get blown up with a bomb that would be thrown in our tent, or what would happen. You just took chances.”
Lest we forget.
