North Antrim may refer to:
County Antrim (named after the town of Antrim) is one of six counties that form Northern Ireland, situated in the north-east of the island of Ireland. Adjoined to the north-east shore of Lough Neagh, the county covers an area of 3,046 square kilometres (1,176 sq mi) and has a population of about 618,000. It is one of six traditional counties of Northern Ireland and is within the historic province of Ulster.
The Glens of Antrim offer isolated rugged landscapes, the Giant's Causeway is a unique landscape and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bushmills produces whiskey, and Portrush is a popular seaside resort and night-life area. The majority of Belfast, the capital city of Northern Ireland, is in County Antrim, with the remainder being in County Down.
Antrim may refer to:
Northern Ireland (Irish: Tuaisceart Éireann [ˈt̪ˠuəʃcəɾˠt̪ˠ ˈeːɾʲən̪ˠ]; Ulster Scots: Norlin Airlann) is a constituent unit of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the northeast of the island of Ireland. It is variously described as a country, province, region, or "part" of the United Kingdom, amongst other terms. Northern Ireland shares a border to the south and west with the Republic of Ireland. In 2011, its population was 1,810,863, constituting about 30% of the island's total population and about 3% of the UK's population. Established by the Northern Ireland Act 1998 as part of the Good Friday Agreement, the Northern Ireland Assembly holds responsibility for a range of devolved policy matters, while other areas are reserved for the British government. Northern Ireland co-operates with the Republic of Ireland in some areas, and the Agreement granted the Republic the ability to "put forward views and proposals" with "determined efforts to resolve disagreements between the two governments".
North is a noun, adjective, or adverb indicating direction or geography. North is one of the four cardinal directions or compass points. It is the opposite of south and is perpendicular to east and west.
The word north is related to the Old High German nord, both descending from the Proto-Indo-European unit ner-, meaning "down" (or "under"). (Presumably a natural primitive description of its concept is "to the left of the rising sun".)
The Latin word borealis comes from the Greek boreas "north wind, north", which, according to Ovid, was personified as the son of the river-god Strymon, the father of Calais and Zetes. Septentrionalis is from septentriones, "the seven plow oxen", a name of Ursa Maior. The Greek arktikos is named for the same constellation, and is the derivation of the English word "Arctic".
Other languages have sometimes more interesting derivations. For example, in Lezgian, kefer can mean both 'disbelief' and 'north', since to the north of the Muslim Lezgian homeland there are areas formerly inhabited by non-Muslim Caucasian and Turkic peoples. In many languages of Mesoamerica, "north" also means "up". In Hungarian the word for north is észak, which is derived from éjszaka ("night"), since above the Tropic of Cancer, the Sun never shines from the north.

In October 1988 Gerard Casey's home in Rasharkin Ros Earcáin was raided by the Royal Ulster Constabulary. While there they removed a legally held shotgun. Casey was charged for possession of explosives, and was taken away to Castlereagh. On April 4, 1989, members of the loyalist paramilitary, the Ulster Volunteer Force entered the home and fatally shot Casey as he was asleep in his home. Only Gerard Casey 29 years old was killed in the attack, his wife and children were left unharmed

Video clips & photos of the Common Buzzard, taken in my garden at the head of Glentaisie, on the side of Knocklayde, the most northerly of the Glens of Antrim. I don't waste roadkill when I see it. At the very least I throw it into the verge or nearby field, to help prevent scavengers from becoming the next vehicular victim. However, I also bring them home sometimes for my own neighbourhood scavengers & that's how this drama unfolded. I composed the Waltz that accompanies this video, 'Buzzards over Knocklayde', especially for this project & these gorgeous birds. I played it on my Fiddle, Mandolin, Tenor Guitar & English Concertina. I hit the road and travelled up the famous north Antrim coast road. The weather was so random with heavy showers separated by spells of sunshine. This is a version of North Coast in Northern Ireland with a bit of time spent on grading in FCP. I also cured a few of the shaky tripod issues with the smooth cam effect in FCP. This was my first day using the Canon XHA1 camera and also working with a HD camera. I am still getting used to the increased need of accuracy while focusing. Hope you enjoy. Send me your comments
