Little Women is a novel by American author Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888), which was originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869. Alcott wrote the books rapidly over several months at the request of her publisher. The novel follows the lives of four sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March—detailing their passage from childhood to womanhood, and is loosely based on the author and her three sisters.
Little Women was an immediate commercial and critical success, and readers demanded to know more about the characters. Alcott quickly completed a second volume (entitled Good Wives in the United Kingdom, although this name derived from the publisher and not from Alcott). It was also successful. The two volumes were issued in 1880 in a single work entitled Little Women. Alcott also wrote two sequels to her popular work, both of which also featured the March sisters: Little Men (1871) and Jo's Boys (1886). Although Little Women was a novel for girls, it differed notably from the current writings for children, especially girls. The novel addressed three major themes: "domesticity, work, and true love, all of them interdependent and each necessary to the achievement of its heroine's individual identity."
The March can refer to:
An executive producer (EP) enables the making of a commercial entertainment product. The EP may be concerned with management accounting and/or with associated legal issues (like copyrights or royalties). An EP generally contributes to the film's budget and may or may not work on set.
In motion pictures, an executive producer oversees the filmmaking with regard to film finance. Executive producers liaise with the line producer and report to production companies and distributors.
In television, an executive producer often supervises the creative content as well as the financial aspects of a production. Some writers (for example Stephen J. Cannell and Tina Fey) have been the creator and also the producer of the same TV show. Other dual roles may include the executive director(s) starring in the show they produce, such as Full Throttle Saloon reality TV star, Jesse James Dupree. Still other shows may have more than one executive producer working on a TV show where there can be one among them who outranks the others. This position is known as the "showrunner," or operational executive producer.
Lauren Evans is an American singer and songwriter responsible for penning hits by Alexandra Burke and Jordin Sparks.
Evans grew up in San Bernardino, California, the daughter of a pastor, John Evans, of Maranatha! Music and Promise Keepers. She recorded several popular Christian songs for the label Maranatha! Music. Evans’ cover of “You’re Worthy of My Praise” became an oft-played radio hit for the label.
Her career got an early boost from working with production duo Buster & Shavoni who featured her on DreamWork’s Prince of Egypt soundtrack under the pseudonym Christian. “Didn’t I,” which she also co-wrote, earned a Stellar Award nomination the following year. Collaborating with producer Rex Rideout, another of her compositions “Brighter Days” was featured in the 2003 film The Fighting Temptations.
Evans has also made her mark on TV, contributing her voice to Disney mainstays such as That's So Raven,The Cheetah Girls, High School Musical, Jump In, Cory in the House. Lauren was also the singing voice behind Fox’s animated series Bratz. Lauren's work on the series was released in 2006 as the compilation album Bratz: Genie Magic on Hip-O/Universal Music.
(Abigail) May Alcott Nieriker (July 26, 1840 – December 29, 1879) was an American artist and the youngest sister of Louisa May Alcott. She was the basis for the character Amy (an anagram of May) in her sister's semi-autobiographical novel Little Women (1868). She was named after her mother, Abigail May, and first called Abba, then Abby, and finally May, which she asked to be called in November 1863 when in her twenties.
Her temperament was elastic, susceptible. She had a lively fancy, a clear understanding... [I]ndependence was a marked trait.… She held her fortunes in her hands, and failure was a word unknown in her vocabulary of effort.
Abigail May Alcott was born July 26, 1840 in Concord, Massachusetts, Abigail May was the youngest of the four daughters born to Amos Bronson Alcott.
Her sister was the novelist Louisa May Alcott, who supported her studies in Europe and with whom she had a fond relationship, albeit at times jealous of her easy ability to get what she wanted and needed and of her family life.
