The time has come for Boulder City Council to provide a detailed financial update on the status of the possible outcomes of the Municipalization effort. Superficial statements of a “sound” or “robust” financial status are no longer adequate.
Too much time, too much money, and no resulting carbon reduction is straining the credibility of the Municipalization effort.
With decisions at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, and the Boulder District Court now making Municipalization more costly and less likely, Boulder citizens, businesses and affected neighbors are asking the City of Boulder to release a detailed financial update on the possible ...

With decisions at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, and the Boulder District Court now making Municipalization more costly and less likely, Boulder citizens, businesses and affected neighbors are asking the City of Boulder to release a detailed financial update on the possible outcomes of the Municipalization effort before additional taxpayer dollars are spent.
The City has spent or lost over $13 million up to 2014, and is poised to spend $6.9 million just this year, at a rate of over $8,500 a day. Not a single kWh of renewable energy has been produced. We seek a redirection of this effort that will result in real reduction of greenhouse gasses.
Please provide the facts that will allow us to critically review the current and modeled future financial status of Municipalization and include the model alternative where the Gunbarrel county customers and Xcel's assets in the separation area are not included so that we can determine if Municipalization is still a viable option.
