This is a list of fictional characters in the NBC comedy television series, My Name is Earl.
Earl Jehosephat Hickey[1] (played by Jason Lee)/young Earl (Noah Crawford) — The protagonist and narrator of the show. He has a long history of petty crimes (mostly thefts) and other reprehensible acts (like bullying classmates or faking his own death rather than break up with a woman), for which he now must atone in light of an epiphany induced by the confluence of financial loss, pain, morphine, Carson Daly and karma. Although he lacks much formal education, he is bright and open-minded to the metaphysical and has come under the guidance of a strong moral compass provided to him by the unseen hand of karma which has made his life miserable. His conversion to following the dictates of Karma as against his own instinctual misbehavior now drives his life, as he seeks to survive by making up for his past wrongs with a self-created program of damage repair that loosely tracks some of the methods of formal 12 step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous. The linkage between Earl's path and such programs is made plain by the show's title itself, which incorporates the traditional first-name only introduction by attendees at meetings (such as "My name is Earl"). Along the way, Earl often finds that his initial misdeeds have long and enduring tentacles that produce massive negative secondary side effects, but that his patchwork fixes likewise produce substantially deeper and truer benefits to initial victims than could have been imagined or engineered. Earl fears flying, needles and possible attacks from alligators in the sewer when he uses the toilet, owns a 1973 red El Camino that once belonged to his friend Frank: it has a blue driver's side door, found in a tornado.[2] Earl was married to Joy as the series begins, and was subsequently divorced from her (he signed the papers under the influence of morphine) and married and divorced from two other women during the time line of the show, with each marriage being to a woman he barely knew at the time of their vows. Earl's father intended to name him Carl, but his cursive letter 'C' was read as an 'E' by the hospital where Earl was born. In many flashbacks, he is seen wearing an AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd or Metallica shirt, often under the unbuttoned flannel shirt that is his trademark. He also appears to be incapable of keeping his eyes open when photographs are taken. Earl moved out of his parents' house on March 14, 1989 (which his father was so thrilled about that he made 3.14.89 the combination to his gun case). In one episode it says that Earl is allergic to cats, but eventually that is changed when later Randy seems to be the one allergic and not Earl. Dodge is revealed to be Earl's son in the last episode, and was conceived at a halloween party both Joy and Earl attended, although Joy always thought the father was Little Chubby. Earl was sent to Nathanville State Penitentiary as inmate #28301-016 at the start of Season 3 for a crime Joy committed that would have been her third strike. Rather than allow her to go to prison for life and break up her family, Earl accepted the blame and rationalized his sentence as his karmic penalty for other crimes he committed that were never solved.
Randall "Randy" Dew Hickey[1] (played by Ethan Suplee)/young Randy (Ryan Armstrong) — Earl's younger brother. He is thought to be very dimwitted and simple, bordering on mild mental retardation. Described as "borderline artistic" by his elder brother for his creativity and for what a doctor once said about him (unaware the doctor was referring to autism), Randy Hickey possesses a childlike naïveté that manifests as both sweetness toward others, an unawareness of the potentially harmful consequences of his actions, and as occasional tantrums. He doesn't fully understand Earl's List, and sometimes resents the importance it plays in Earl's life, but he supports his campaign out of brotherly love. One of his only two revealed regular jobs Randy had was being a guard at the Nathanville State Penitentiary that Earl was sent to after pleading guilty to a kidnapping Joy committed. Randy Hickey is a huge fan of H.R. Pufnstuf. He is afraid of birds and allergic to cats. He has been shown to be an excellent singer (particularly at opera) many times. He also is very good at acting. He is a fan of Michael J. Fox. At one point he was married to Catalina and in love with her, but later changed his mind about that. Randy Hickey constantly falls in love with women that are too different from him and so his relationships never last. He also is shown to be a poor hand-writer. In "Very Bad Things", it is discovered that Randy also loves spray paint, on the account of the bright colors and fumes, and has even made a name for himself as Camden County's most gifted graffiti artist. This is evidenced by Randy artistically painting his name in six-foot letters on the side of a stolen truck.
Joy Farrah Darville Hickey Turner (played by Jaime Pressly) is Earl's first ex-wife, now married to Darnell and the antagonist of the show. She is unsophisticated "trailer trash", self-centered, manipulative and aggressive. She tricked Earl into marrying her when she became pregnant with another man's child (which turned out might actually be Earl's after all), then had an affair with Darnell while she and Earl were still married. However, she is very protective of her family. Joy is the mother of two boys, Dodge and Earl Jr. She is openly scornful of Earl's List. She has a strong dislike for Catalina, although ends up saving her life in the fourth season. She drives a Subaru BRAT painted with the American flag. Her frequent catchphrases are "Oh snap!", "What the Hell", and she frequently calls both Earl and Randy "Dummy". In the episode "Pinky" it is revealed that Joy and Randy were childhood sweethearts who knew each other as 'Pinky' and 'Skipper.' Eventually Joy became a surrogate mother for her estranged half sister, doing so partly out of love for the sister (during the sister's pursuit of employment as a pro wrestler) and partly as a ploy to evoke sympathy from a jury that would try Joy for inadvertently kidnapping an appliance-store employee. Joy subsequently averted her "third strike" (third felony, which would have meant a life long prison sentence) when the man she kidnapped died from a fold up bed malfunction, which then allowed Earl to confess to the crime as a way to prevent Joy from being split from her family. Earl accepted the much shorter sentence given him by rationalizing it as karmic retribution for the crimes he had gotten away with. Joy believed throughout the show that Little Chubby was the father of Dodge and Darnell was the father of Earl Jr., but in the final episode it is revealed Dodge is Earl's son and Earl Jr. is not Darnell's son. The identity of Earl Jr.'s father is unresolved.
Darnell 'Crabman' Turner, formerly Harry Monroe (played by Eddie Steeples) — Joy's husband, and still one of Earl's best friends despite apparently impregnating Earl's then-wife Joy. He now acts as father ("New Daddy") to Joy's two sons. He works in the local dive, "The Crab Shack". He is educated, having graduated from college at 14, mild-mannered, and a capable rapper, but is actually a former assassin for a secret government organization, having been trained by his own absentee father for the job. He was placed in the witness protection program after he refused to kill the child leader of a socialist nation and testified in court against his former employers. Darnell demonstrates greater intelligence than those around him. A running gag within the show is that Darnell smokes marijuana. He had a sister Pam who was killed by honesty, according to Joy. Darnell's dad is called Thomas Monroe and works for the agency. Occasionally, Darnell's afro is shown to hide cell phones which self destruct after use. Earl calls him Crabman because he took so long to learn his name. It is revealed in the very last episode of the show that Earl Jr., generally believed to be his son, is not. In the episode Our 'Cops' is on it is shown that he used to live with his supposed grandmother and grew and sold marijuana in his bedroom.
Catalina Rana Aruca (played by Nadine Velazquez) — The beautiful housekeeper at Earl and Randy's motel. She is also the number one dancer/stripper at Club Chubby and was a close friend of the late Crab Shack owner Ernie Belcher, occasionally participating in three way sex with him and Patty, the daytime hooker. She killed her mother (albeit in self-defense) in order to get to America in a crate. Now shares a green card marriage with Randy, performed in her hometown, with the marriage occurring after Earl, in recognition of the huge crush Randy had on her, deliberately failed a test of manhood that was a prerequisite to marriage. The marriage to Randy de facto ended after she purposefully made the consummation of their marriage an experience unenjoyable (although she regretted her actions when she found out that Randy was a very good lover). She has a strong dislike for Joy, as Joy called her a whore when they first met. Later she softens up when Joy proves she would be willing to knock out Darnell in order to save her life. Though obviously Latin American, her specific origins were kept vague, except that she was not from Mexico, until the fourth season in "Earl and Joy's Anniversary" when it is revealed that resided in La Paz, which may or may not be the city in Bolivia, and in other episodes it was revealed she was born in "Guadalatucky." In the same 'prequel' episode it is also revealed that she lost her virginity during an orgy with Patty, Darnell and Kenny in a phone booth when they were all avoiding a swarm of killer bees. She occasionally breaks the fourth wall by seemingly shouting insults to Joy in Spanish which are actually notes for the fans. She also seems to have an obsession with kicking the male characters in the testicles while wearing only a bikini and she has performed in several of Ernie Belcher's sex fetish videos, as did many other characters of the show.
Carlton "Carl" Hickey (played by Beau Bridges) is Earl and Randy's father. Earl was supposed to be named after him but due to Carl's cursive writing the word "Carl" looked like "Earl" because of the extra loop on the 'C' on Earl's birth certificate. He ran for mayor twice but lost both times after Earl was arrested. Carl lives beneath an airport flight path, which causes his entire house to vibrate several times a day and angers him very much. He is sorely disappointed in his sons and at the start of the series he refused to have anything to do with Earl. However he gradually realizes his son's efforts to improve his life were sincere and he and Earl are mending their relationship (with the help of an old Mustang). He owns a gun, and has 3.14.89 (the date Earl moved out of the family home) as the combination to the gun case.
Katherine "Kay" Hickey (played by Nancy Lenehan is Earl and Randy's mother. She is also disappointed in Earl but is more tolerant than Carl. She is happy Earl is trying to turn his life around. She spends a lot of time dealing with Carl's battered ego. Earl's friend Ralph attempted unsuccessfully to come on to her after learning Earl had slept with Ralph's mother. At one time she had an affair with a neighbor of theirs named Clark Clark, but her husband and her make up despite that.
Dodge Hickey (played by Louis T. Moyle) —is Joy's oldest son, born June 10, 2000. Joy was six months pregnant with him when she and Earl got married the day after they met. In the pilot Earl tells us, "Joy didn't remember much about the boy's real father, except that he drove a Ford. So, we named him Dodge." It was thought that a friend of Earl, Frank, might be Dodge's real father in The Frank Factor. Dodge's middle name is "Chaz", named after Earl's hero, astronaut Chaz Dalton. In the season 4 episode "Dodge's Father", a DNA test showed that Earl was Dodge's biological father (Earl was drunk and wearing a mask as Joy got pregnant at a Halloween party). Dodge was never aware of the possibility that Earl was not his biological father.
Earl Hickey, Jr. (played by Trey Carlisle) is Joy and Darnell's son, born April 3, 2001. After introducing Dodge in the pilot, Earl explains, "A few years later we were having our first child from my own personal seed. Doctors had already told us he was going to come out a boy, so we went ahead and named him." But as the doctor holds up a newborn mixed-race baby, Earl gets a confused look on his face and finishes: "There he was — Earl Junior." He has a huge afro and is frequently seen playing rambunctiously with his half-brother, Dodge. Originally thought to be Darnell's child, a DNA test in the season 4 episode "Dodge's Dad" revealed that Darnell was not Earl Jr.'s father. However, due to the show's cancellation, the true father was never revealed.
Liberty Washington (played by Tamala Jones) is Joy's mixed race half-sister. They hated each other for years but eventually bonded to the point where Joy became a surrogate mother for Liberty and her husband Ray-Ray's baby. She tends to treat Ray-Ray exactly the way Joy treats Darnell: with full measures of both hostility and love.
Ray-Ray Washington (played by DJ Qualls) is Liberty's husband, who shares many character traits with Darnell. He owns a bearded dragon named "Mr. Bearded Dragon" whom he treats in the same fatherly manner that Darnell treats Mr. Turtle. His father's name was "Ray" and named him "Ray-Ray", that is why he would like to name his unborn child "Ray-Ray-Ray".
Kenneth "Kenny" James (played by Gregg Binkley, played as a child by Andy Pessoa) is a former victim of Earl's bullying as a child, Kenny is one of the first items on his list that Earl attempts to fix by helping him come out as homosexual and restoring his confidence. As a result the two became friends and Kenny helps Earl with completing his list whenever he can, usually to his comedic detriment. He has a job as an assistant manager of a copy shop, which he uses to his advantage, (printing fake birth certificates and résumés, for example). He drives a powder blue Le Car which he also uses to help out Earl. After his boyfriend dumped him, Kenny asked Earl to help him become more of a manly man, which unwittingly led to both of them having a gambling addiction, though Kenny is currently seeking treatment. At the end of the third season Kenny finally gets the man of his dreams: Ex-officer Stuart Daniels.
Patricia "Patty" Michelle Weezmer (played by Dale Dickey) is Camden County's local prostitute. She is in poor shape and can only do service during the day. She has exchanged sexual favors for fast food and is frequently arrested as a result. She apparently has a teenage son who she is putting through hairdressing school, who may or may not be the son of the local school mascot, the Devil. She also claims to have once been hit by a chair at a wrestling match, and made it onto TV.
In the pilot episode, Earl and Randy paid Patty to have sex with Kenny, unaware that Kenny was gay, with Patty gaining entrance to Kenny's house on the asserted pretense of representing an environmental charity. It was also implied in this episode that Earl had once given Patty as a birthday present to Randy. It was also revealed in a monologue in Season two that she possesses a Master's degree. In another episode she said that she received a 1500 on her SAT's. In Season One, Patty helps Earl converse with Iqball (a client who gets piggy back rides from her) by speaking and translating Bengali. Later in the series it was revealed that Patty, Darnell, Kenny and Catalina had years earlier been involved in a telephone booth foursome during a bee swarm, and had promised each other never to mention it again, obviously leaving open the question of why Patty felt it necessary to lie to Kenny who should have known her.
Her mother is Mrs Griselda "Crazy Witch Lady" Weezmer, but Patty hasn't lived with her since her parents got divorced, and now finds it creepy when her mother watches her 'while she works'. Her father is Cherokee, and is named Chasing Squirrel. She consequently spent the first years of life on a Native American reservation, before her parent's divorce and subsequent move to Camden.
Patty was once in the Peace Corps and apparently worked in the same place where Catalina grew up as a child.
Ralph Mariano (played by Giovanni Ribisi, played as a child by Tanner Maguire) is a former partner in crime of Earl's, who goes in and out of jail on an almost weekly basis. He and Earl have been friends since childhood, when Earl first taught Ralph how to steal. He isn't the smartest person in the world, doesn't quite get the whole karma thing. Following in Earl's footsteps, he attempts to go legit by getting a job at a lamp store, only to go back to stealing the same day because he didn't win the lottery. A dedicated criminal, he will do anything for $200. He has a sister who dances at Club Chubby. He also once started a short-lived rock band along with Earl and Randy. He has several tattoos, including a Yin Yang on his forearm (which was put there because he thought it was 'two tadpoles doin' it') and 'two cougars doin' it' on his ankle. He only has nine toes following an incident where he cut his pinky toe off to put in a hotdog, forcing a huge hotdog franchise pay a settlement, which was used to rebuild the local hotdog stand that he was once paid by them to burn down in the episode Stole P's HD Cart. After learning that Earl had once slept with his mother, Ralph makes him marry her to "make an honest woman" out of her in the episode Van Hickey. When Earl is sentenced to 2 years in Camden County Prison, Ralph is his cellmate, only to escape the next day by drilling a hole behind a Dolly Parton poster, make a dummy with a watermelon for the head, and leaving Earl behind. He explains in his letter that he would have let Earl come with him but he was hungry and ate the second watermelon. He is also mentioned in 'Bounty Hunter' as having a bounty for $1200 for larceny of a dog and resisting arrest.
Donny Jones (played by Silas Weir Mitchell) is a friend of Earl's and a fellow reformed criminal. Hot-headed Donny was wrongly convicted of attempted robbery (it was Earl wearing Donny's jersey) and served two years in prison. During his prison term, Donny began reading the Bible and subsequently found Jesus. Once Earl confessed to Donny about committing the crime, Donny forgave him on the basis he would have eventually gone to prison anyway. He has two tattoos: one of Jesus on his chest, from which he occasionally seeks advice; and one on his buttocks of Moses parting the Red Sea. Along with Earl, Randy, Joy, and Darnell, he took over a department store on January 1, 2000 after they believed that the rest of the human race had been wiped out by Y2K. (In fact, the store was simply closed for the holiday, and most of the town's inhabitants were attending a local parade.) Even though Donny has now reformed he still scares people, mainly Earl, because he has "crazy eyes".
Henry "Hank" Lange (played by Tim DeKay) is an old friend of Earl's. Hank was on Earl's list after Earl once told an inappropriate joke at Hank's birthday party in front of his family. Hank was later arrested for trying to rob a liquor store with a crossbow, (eventually shooting himself in the arm with it) though Earl managed to cross him off the list by giving him a good day before he went away to prison. Earl ran into Hank again when Earl volunteered for a prison work gang, and again when Earl falsely confessed to a crime on Joy’s behalf. He and Earl had made a deal if either had wound up in prison, they would break the other out. Earl hoped Hank would not remember this, but that was the first question he asked (but later said that he did not care if he did or not). Hank was later mentioned as having broken out of prison in the episode Bounty Hunter.
The character may be named after show producer Henry J. Lange, Jr.
Frank Stump (played by Michael Rapaport) is an old friend of Earl and Randy's. He helped them out by letting them live with him in his trailer. He was formerly an employee at the Crab Shack until Darnell took his place. Was arrested when he crashed into a van driven by Secret Service members (Who were dropping off Darnell) on the way back from a casino robbery while holding Howie Mandel hostage. He is currently spending 20 years in prison. His trailer is currently occupied by Joy and Darnell, and his El Camino is currently being used by Earl. He once was able to escape from jail because Randy was a guard there and let Frank go for some ice cream, without watching him. He hid money in Joy and Darnells trailer where eventually he was captured again there by Earl and Randy and taken back to prison. He used to date Billie, but eventually lost her to Earl.
Billie Cunningham (played by Alyssa Milano) is Earl's third wife. She is a little crazy and gets very jealous of Earl spending so much time with his List instead of her. After finding inner peace in an Amish-type settlement near Camden, she not only divorced Earl but gave him $72,000 she had received after being hit by a car.
Didi (played by Tracy Ashton) is the one-legged girl from whom Earl stole a car after telling her he loved her. She works at Yummy's Donut Shop and has a fast one-armed, no-legged boyfriend named Jake (played by Cameron Clapp), whom she met while hopping after Earl's winning lottery ticket as it blew in the wind. She is still angry at Earl and had her boyfriend chase him away when he tried to apologize. Didi gets around by hopping (although she does possess a prosthetic leg, the only use it gets is when her dog humps it), whereas her boyfriend uses prosthetic limbs and is quite agile. She lives across the street from Donny Jones. She always called Earl a "Son of a Bitch" when she sees him, and chased after him. Surprisingly, she sang in the "Free Earl" video, although the video may be non canon. The exact cause of her losing a leg is unknown; however, in "Our Other Cops Is On", Didi states that "she already survived one explosion". She finally forgives Earl in the third season finale when she tells Earl to try to survive one day with only one leg.
Natalie Duckworth (played by Beth Riesgraf, then-girlfriend of Jason Lee was Earl's one-time girlfriend; her first appearance was in "Faked His Own Death". Natalie was unable to take a hint that Earl was not into her so and thus faked his own death. He later told her that her clingy personality was the real reason he faked his death. In turn, Natalie faked her own death to make Earl feel bad, and in doing so, she gained a large amount of confidence. She also appeared in "Our "Cops" Is On"; after Joy and Earl stole a police car, Joy called Natalie a slut with a megaphone and told her to get "on [the car in front of Joy] and spread [her] legs".
Mr Turtle is Darnell's pet Sulcata, first seen in the episode O Karma, Where Art Thou?. He was briefly evicted from the trailer in Made a Lady Think I Was God by Joy's landlord (Randy offered to take care of him), but by the end of the episode, was welcomed back. In "Made A Lady Think I was God", Darnell mentions that Mr. Turtle has no first name, but in "Got the Babysitter Pregnant" his grave marker reads Mr. Sydney Turtle. In the latter episode, it is also alluded that Mr. Turtle was born in 1913 and is Jewish. Once Joy lost Mr. Turtle because she left him on the roof of their car and he slid off. Later Randy and Earl find Mr. Turtle and Earl travels all the way to bring Mr. Turtle back to Darnell.
Staurt Daniels (played by Mike O'Malley) is a former police officer. Stuart came from a family of police officers, his mother and four sisters all being on the job. Unfortunately, Stuart was a horribly incompetent officer, his most humiliating incident being when he lost his badge. He was one of the officers featured on COPS in Our "Cops" Is On, where he was shown breaking up a fight between the Electrolarynx Man and Nescobar-A-Lop-Lop, confronting Donny Jones about his public nudity, and remaining blissfully unaware of Kenny James's attempts to come on to him. In contrast to his police work, Stuart was an excellent bowler, bowling a perfect game every time. He later decided bowling was his true calling and quit the police force to pursue it full-time. He later falls in love with his long-time gay admirer, Kenny.
Jeffrey "Jeff" Hoyne (played by Billy Gardell) is an overweight and incompetent police officer. He has two identical siblings, a brother, named Billy, who works as a Warehouse worker at Waadt Appliance, and a unnamed sister, both of whom are also portrayed by Gardell.
Robert "Bob" Smiley (played by George Frangides) is a short, easily excitable police officer. He has had a number of run-ins with Earl in various episodes with his nervousness leading to a number of misunderstandings. When it was revealed that he had a wife who died, Earl said, "Sweet, no alimony!"
Bobbie Bowman (played by Kathy Kinney) is an overweight and incompetent police officer. She appears in "Our 'Cops' Is On!" and "Our Other 'Cops' Is On!".
Timothy "Tim" Stack (played by himself) is a "hometown celebrity" of Camden County who has appeared in a number of TV shows. He is portrayed as an alcoholic throughout the series and is almost always seen wearing the wardrobe of his character from Son of the Beach, "Notch Johnson". In "Broke Joy's Fancy Figurine", he was the host of the Balboa & Sons' mother-daughter pageant (In a deleted scene, he "took" Catalina out to dinner, only to give the bill to her, down a pill of Viagra and offer to go back to her place). In "Y2K", he was seen at the New Year's Day parade on January 1, 2000. He also appeared in the episode "Our "Cops" Is On", in which he was pulled over for drunk driving, but the cop let him off since he had a role on Punky Brewster. Upon being pulled over, he cited his "celebrity" status and his 63 credits on IMDb (which was precise—although at the time the COPS episode was supposed to take place, it was not) as a reason to not get a ticket. Another flashback showed him as a willing potential "sugar daddy" for a very pregnant Joy, but she was grossed out when he dressed up as a baby for their tryst.
Willie the One-Eyed Mailman (played by Bill Suplee, father of Ethan Suplee) is a local mailman with a patch over one eye, Willie is friendly but somewhat lazy as he has been seen throwing mail on the floor of someone's home or simply throwing it in the garbage. His lack of depth perception has caused problems for him more than once when giving or reaching for items, such as when he was unable to pick up Earl's winning lottery ticket when it blew away in the wind. It was recently revealed he lost his eye in 2003 when he got hit with a shard of glass after Joy smashed Earl's Def Leppard picture with a bowling ball. At some times Willie has used a fake eye instead of his eye patch, only to lose it once when Joy took it and kept it from him due to the fact that it was on something that she bought at a garage sale. Eventually Willie decides just to use his patch.
Nescobar-A-Lop-Lop (played by Abdoulaye N'Gom) is an African immigrant from Earl's English language class. Like other class members, he proudly greets Earl with his first English phrase: "My. Name. Is. Earl." In addition to Earl's class, he picked up much of his English from watching American television. He is known to repeatedly say, "Seacrest. Out." He has a compulsion to steal pens, and is apparently dating or married to an Asian woman. Interestingly, in the episode with Earl's birthday, Nescobar crosses an item off the list as a birthday gift for Earl, even though he has only known the "good Earl" (See The Birthday Party), although by the episode "Our Cops is on" he may have known the 'bad' Earl. In the same episode, when Earl asks him how the English lessons are coming, Nescobar replies "I speak better than you, bitch!". At Joy's trial, it is revealed that he can speak and translate Mandarin, although he claims it's a little rusty. (Abdoulaye N'Gom actually is fluent in 6 languages including Mandarin according to the My Name is Earl Season 1 DVD).
Jasper (played by J. Lamont Pope) runs a fencing operation out of a self storage unit, selling merchandise stolen from the local mall at a discount rate. He was not able to help Earl fence silver stolen from the local library after his "silver guy" got arrested for melting down a menorah. He says the authorities said it was a hate crime, but he just hated being poor. Jasper also has a Russian mail-order bride named Tatiana (played by Jessica Cauffiel) who apparently lives in the storage unit and does not like kissing him. She has a large mole on her chin.
Electrolarynx Guy (played by Jack Axelrod) is an unnamed old man who can only speak with the help of an electrolarynx, apparently because of a lifetime of smoking. He sold Randy a Quit Smoking cassette for $0.32 (Negotiated from $0.40.) He also posed as Randy's father when Randy went back to high school in Randy's Touchdown. According to a deleted scene commentary in the Season 1 episode O Karma, Where Art Thou?, Jack Axelrod does not use an electrolarynx in real life.
Iqball (played by Abdul Goznobi) is the clerk at the Camden Market, who sold Earl the winning lottery ticket. Iqball used to only speak Bengali relying on Patty to translate for him, but in later episodes, he is shown speaking English, as well. Despite often hiring Patty, the pilot episode seems to indicate that he is gay (or, at least bisexual), as he is seen at the gay bar Earl and Randy take Kenny to.
Jeremiah "Jerry" Hazelwood (played by Craig T. Nelson) is the Warden of Camden County, Jerry is the husband of the Governor, who was embarrassed with his mooching, and unemployment. The last Straw was pulled when several politicians came over to their house, and he was in his underwear playing Rockband. He got a job at Homeland Security, but fired for inaccurate preparations for 9/11. He then became Warden, to which he constantly bribed Earl with time off certificates to help him run the place. He had Earl stop a gang rivalry, start a steer-straight program for kids, and has Earl start a program to mediate problems between victims and criminals. When the Warden shreds all of Earl's certificates, Earl tries to escape but fails. Earl then blackmails the Warden with information on his Porn Star days. Earls certificates are renewed and he leaves the Prison. At one point he accidentally admits to the press that his wife the Governor has a sexual addiction and that they are also having problems in their marriage and having marriage counseling.
Chubby (played by Burt Reynolds) was the richest man and owner of almost all of the commercial enterprises in Camden County, including the strip club Club Chubby, the Dumpster service and an array of other businesses of various natures. He would often frighten people by substituting a vodka-filled water gun for a real handgun, but accidentally killed himself by firing the real gun into his mouth when he thought he had the vodka gun.
Richard Chubby, Jr., called "Little Chubby" (played by Norm Macdonald) is the owner of most businesses in Camden County including Club Chubby. He inherited the businesses after his father Big Chubby (played by Burt Reynolds) died. He was one of the most feared men in Camden until Earl hit him in the testicles and caused them to swell up and change color. In the season four finale, it was revealed that Joy believed he was Dodge's father, but a DNA test showed otherwise. Due to a medical procedure, he was mean again but took a baseball to his "meat and potatoes" to make him nice again, and then had bull testicles implanted making him mean again to run his business better.
Played by Raymond Cruz in 5 episodes. Frank Stump's roommate and usual getaway man/partner in crime, Paco is Catalina's true love from the old country. Although he sent for her, they never quite managed to actually find each other in Camden County, causing Catalina to feel estranged and to experiment with Lesbianism, until the end of the series. On two separate occasions—once the night that Earl hooked up with Joy for an eventual Las Vegas wedding—Paco saw her on the road as he drove a getaway vehicle, only to become distracted and inadvertently plow into law enforcement vehicles, causing himself and Frank to be arrested.
Joshua "Josh" Martin (played by Josh Wolf) was a Bargain Bag store employee. He first appears in "Very Bad Things", where Earl and Joy discover him in the back of a Bargain Bag truck that the latter had stolen, after the store had refused to refund her $3000. Earl and Joy tried to help Josh escape without him being able to identify them, but they were unsuccessful and Joy was sent to prison for grand theft auto, kidnapping and assault. In "Kept a Guy Locked in a Truck", Earl decides that he should add him to the List in order to make amends for his kidnapping, but when he goes to his apartment, he discovers Josh dead, having been crushed when his retractable bed inadvertently retracted. While intitially deciding to cross him off the List due to his death, Josh's spirit visits Earl and demands not to be forgotten, leading Earl to throw a funeral for Josh with various friends that he had made on the internet.
Josh later reappears in "Our Other 'Cops' Is On!", in an episode of Cops that was shot before his kidnapping and death. In "I Won't Die with a Little Help from My Friends (Part 2)", Josh appears in Earl's coma world, ready to escort Earl to the afterlife. He makes his final appearane in "Inside Probe", in an episode filmed prior to his death but, due to Darnell, shown after his death. By recementing the floor in the women's bathroom, he plays a vital part in the death of Ernie Belcher, albeit unknowingly, as Ernie fell into the cement and drowned.
Kevin (Jonathan Walker Spencer) is a cameraman operator for the television show, Cops, who suffers from the actions of Earl, Randy and Joy, whenever Cops films in Camden County. He is married with three children.
