Experts recommend joint EAC Oil Refinery
www.ntvuganda.co.ug East African Countries are encouraged to invest jointly in oil and gas to minimize the impact of such investments on individual economies. Experts say it is not economically viable for each country to build its own oil infrastructure such as refineries as this may corrode the sector's returns in the long run.

Eyal Aronoff, co-founder of Fuel Freedom Foundation, on How to Break the Oil Monopoly
Fuel Freedom Foundation co-founder Eyal Aronoff takes us on a journey through the personal experiences that led him to uncover the destructive forces behind America's dependency on oil. After over a decade of examining why the US has struggled to achieve energy independence, Aronoff explains why piecemeal ideas, such as increasing fuel efficiency and attacking coal, are not the solution. He finds that the lack of alternative energy sources to fuel our vehicles jeopardizes US national security, bankrupts our economy and forces us to pay more at the pump. Alternative fuels, such as ethanol, methanol, natural gas and electricity, are the immediate solution to ending our nation's oil dependency. The Fuel Freedom vision seeks to reignite the American dream by encouraging competition and sparking innovation. Go to www.fuelfreedom.org to stay informed.

Gregor Macdonald: What the End of Cheap Oil Means
On the heels of Chris' recent report clarifying the global net energy predicament, he and PeakProsperity.com contributing editor Gregor Macdonald sit down to talk in depth about the broken relationship between energy costs and economic growth. For much of the twentieth century, the developed world saw a steady march upwards in wages and living standards, due primarily to huge quantities of cheap, high-yielding liquid hydrocarbon. As we find ourselved bumping along the plateau of Peak Oil's apex, suddenly we find "growth" is a lot harder to come by. Of course, if you follow the news today, this is not the story you are hearing. Talk of an energy bonanza and imminent energy independence (in the US) are everywhere, thanks to gas fracking and tight oil production. What is missing from the headlines is the cost side of the equation and a blindness towards future demand. For certain, shale gas will be a boon for the US and some other countries. But very little is transported these days by gas and there are no mega-sized infrastructure projects underway to change that anytime soon. Extraction of new tight oil plays is increasing production, but not by enough to offset other field declines elsewhere in the world, and not at the prices we were used to over the past century. The era of cheap oil is over, and these higher permanent prices act as a boot on the throat of economic growth. Hence the mired global economy we have been experiencing in recent years. Rather than fooling ...

Fault Lines - The Battle for the Arctic
Fault Lines looks at the potential environmental impact of resource extraction in the Arctic, and what that might mean for the people who live there. The UN has imposed a 2013 deadline for the submission of scientific claims to the Arctic seabed. It is the precursor to a resource boom which would see Canada, the US, Russia, Norway and Greenland all attempt to exploit the region's resources. These Arctic countries are desperately mapping out their territories so they can tap into the fossil fuels and minerals locked beneath the fast melting ice. And with global warming speeding up the melting of the Polar ice caps, potential shipping routes are opening up - raising concerns about oil spills, and control over these new passageways. Fault Lines' Josh Rushing heads to the Far North to see first-hand how Arctic countries are responding to the potential bonanza.
