Rimington Watch List : Mike Pouncey - Florida
A quick look at Mike Pouncey in action - starting at center for the Florida Gators. He's among 38 players nationwide named to the 2010 Rimington Trophy Watch List. Mike's twin brother, Maurkice, was the 2009 recipient of the Rimington Trophy. The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division IA College Football. Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $1.8 million for its benefactor, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The eleven-year old award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $80 million for CF Research. Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman. Rimington Trophy 2007 - Jonathan Luigs Arkansas
University of Arkansas center Jonathan Luigs is the recipient of the 2007 Rimington Trophy, given annually to the nation's most outstanding center in college football. The announcement was made today by the Rimington committee. Luigs will be recognized as the winner at The Home Depot College Football Awards show, broadcast live on ESPN, in Orlando, Florida on December 6, 2007. The annual Rimington Trophy awards banquet will be held at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 12, 2008. "This is a tremendous eye opener for me especially when I look at the history of the trophy and the distinguished lists of winners. It is an honor to be mentioned in the same circle and even bigger honor to recieve the trophy," said Jonathan Luigs. Luigs is the centerpiece of a University of Arkansas offensive line that has cleared the way for the SEC's top rushing attack (296.8 yards per game) which ranks third in the nation. The junior is riding a streak of 28 consecutive starts at center for the Razorbacks and leads the offensive line with a 90.4 percent grade average including team-leading averages in run (86.1 percent) and pass (96.9 percent) blocking. "It is an honor to name Jonathan as the winner of the 2007 Riminton Trophy. He and the Razorbacks played a great season. To compete at the level Jonathan did against such a tough SEC defense, it is a testament to the strength and skill that makes him the top collegiate center. Congratulations to all the watch list candidates ...

Rimington Trophy 2009
Florida's Maurkice Pouncey Wins 2009 Rimington Trophy « Back December 10, 2009 - University of Florida junior Maurkice Pouncey has been named the recipient of the 2009 Rimington Trophy. Last month Pouncey joined former Gator center Mike Degory in becoming only the second player from the school to be named a finalist for the Rimington Trophy. He now becomes the first player from the University of Florida to receive the award. Its overwhelming. Its a great honor to be the Rimington Trophy winner and to represent the University of Florida as its first winner. Im extremely humbled, said Pouncey. The Lakeland, Florida native anchors an offensive line that has allowed No. 5 Florida to rush for an average of 225.2 yards per game, as well as throw for an average of 217.2 yards per contest. Having started 40 games for the Gators, 29 of them consecutively, Pouncey was instrumental in solidifying protection for his offense in the running and passing game. He was recently named a First Team All-Conference selection in the SEC. Pouncey has graded out a champion at 90 percent or higher in all of Floridas games in 2009, including 98 percent in the first two games of the season. He was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against Tennessee, when he checked in at a team-high 93 percent. Maurkice has been fantastic this year for the University of Florida. We are extremely proud to name him the winner of the 2009 Rimington Trophy. Congratulations to Maurkice and ...

Peter Konz - Rimington Watch List
Wisconsin's big man in the middle is Peter Konz. The rock of the Badgers' offense, Konz has brought stability to the offensive line in a year that saw three of his linemen depart for the NFL. Despite that, Konz and his new mates have kept QB Russell Wilson's clean this season, while holding the fort for him to pass for over 1100 yards already.
