Operation Petticoat Preview
Operation Petticoat is a 1959 comedic film directed by Blake Edwards, and starring Cary Grant, Tony Curtis, and Dina Merrill. Operation Petticoat follows the adventures and tribulations of the sub's skipper (Grant) and his crew (including Curtis as a deviously mercenary supply officer), as they first try to repair the sub and then reach Australia for the necessary refit. The voyage includes various detours along the way, including the acquisition of a group of stranded female Army nurses, an attempt to sink a Japanese ship, and a hurried stopover to overhaul and repaint the sub which quickly goes awry.

Tony Curtis Tribute
A tribute to Tony Curtis, an actor whom once I did not like that much but who has now won me over for good ! With his attractive, dark looks Tony was considered in the 50's as the new Rudolph Valentino and Hollywood's favorite hearthrob. He showed he was also quite an actor -and an athlete who did his own stunts- giving magistral performances as Joe/Josephine/Junior in the never beaten Some Like It Hot (1959), cynical yet weak-willed Sidney Falco in Sweet Smell of Success, always white, always good and always winning Leslie in The Great Race, Cary Grant's assistant in Operation Petticoat and last but not least, Danny Wilde, Roger Moore's partner in crime in the masterpiece series The Persuaders ! Unfortunately Tony died two years ago, leaving us quite lonely :( But we'll never forget his beautiful smile, his dark hair and his leather gloves :) The song is "I Don't Wanna Walk Without You", a 1970 version by Connie Francis. Enjoy !

Operation Petticoat Movie Teaser Trailer (1959)
Operation Petticoat is about a submarine that is newly commissioned and is damaged in the opening days of World War II. A captain, looking for a command insists he can get it to a dockyard and captain it. Going slowly to this site, they find a stranded group of Army nurses and must take them aboard. How bad can it get? Trying to get a primer coat on the sub, they have to mix white and red in order to have enough. When forced to flee the dock during an air attack, they find themselves with the world's only Pink submarine, still with 5 women in the tight quarters of a submarine.

Actor Tony Curtis has died. Reports say the 85-year-old Curtis passed away at his home near Las Vegas on September 29, 2010. According to the Associated Press, Curtis died of cardiac arrest. Curtis' wife, Jill Curtis, said her husband "died peacefully...surrounded by those who love him and have been caring for him."
Tony Curtis was married six times. His first wife was actress Janet Leigh; their daughter is actress Jamie Lee Curtis. On September 30, 2010, Jamie Lee Curtis issued a brief statement, saying: "My father leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings and assemblages. He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world." Tony Curtis also leaves behind five other children, including daughters Kelly Lee Curtis and Allegra Curtis - both of whom are actresses.
During his decades-long career, Tony Curtis starred in some of Hollywood's most well-known classic films, including the 1959 comedy ''Some Like It Hot'' with Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe. Curtis' portrayal of escaped convict John "Joker" Jackson in 1958's ''The Defiant Ones'' earned him a Best Actor Academy Award nomination. Curtis' other films include ''Sweet Smell of Success,'' ''Spartacus,'' ''The Great Race'' and ''Operation Petticoat.'' In addition to acting, Tony Curtis was also an accomplished painter. The AP says Curtis' paintings have sold for up to $20,000.
Tony Curtis was born Bernard Schwartz in the Bronx, New York, on June 3, 1925. According to ''The New York Times,'' his parents were Jewish immigrants originally from Hungary. His father struggled to make a living as a tailor in the 1920s and early 1930s, but during the Depression era, both Bernard and his brother, Julius, were "placed in a state institution." Bernard Schwartz attended New York's Seward Park High School and served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, Schwartz began attending acting classes in New York. In 1948, after getting a contract with Universal Pictures, Bernard Schwartz took the stage name Anthony Curtis. Throughout the late-1940s and early 1950s, Curtis had mostly bit parts in several films. He married actress Janet Leigh in 1951.
In 1994, Tony Curtis released an autobiography detailing his early years in the Bronx, his acting successes and his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. His final movie role was in the 2008 indy film ''David & Fatima.''
