Account Recovery Tools
Retrieve Username
If there is a Daily Kos account associated with the email address you provide, then the username for that account will be emailed to you. This tool will not send you any password information.
Reset Password
An email will be sent to the address we have on file for your Daily Kos account. The email will contain a confirmation link, which must be clicked to activate the new password. Until then, your old password will continue to work.
If you can't remember your username, use the "Retrieve Username" form above.
Your email software may break the activation link into more than one line. If this is the case, then you'll need to reassemble the link and cut and paste it into your browser's address bar or "open page" widget.
If you no longer have access to the email address associated with your Daily Kos account, contact the Helpdesk. We will ask you to provide your old email address to confirm your identity, so you you'll save a bit of time if you include that in the body of your message.
Resend Activation Email for New Account
If you need the activation email for your new account re-sent, enter either the username you chose, or the email address you used to sign up. A new activation link for your account will be emailed to you.
Your email software may break the activation link into more than one line. If this is the case, then you'll need to reassemble the link and cut and paste it into your browser's address bar or "open page" widget.
Your email system must allow mail from donotrespond@dailykos.com. Check your spam folder. If your email software and/or your email provider's server have spam filtering or whitelisting enabled, you may need to configure them to permit mail from that address (this means you especially, Earthlink customer).
If you mistyped your email address when signing up, you're not going to get the activation emails. If you think this might be the case, contact the Helpdesk.
If you've already confirmed your new account, no email will be sent. You should be able to log in and edit your profile if your account has already been confirmed.
Totally Locked Out?
If you can't remember what email address you used to sign up, or you no longer have access to that email address, or you've tried the above tools and they still don't help, then please contact the Helpdesk.
