Canadian Golden Centennaires Airshow 1967
"The Golden Centennaires were a Canadian air force aerobatic flying team that performed in 1967, the Canadian Centennial year. The team was created to celebrate the Canadian Centennial. The eight-plane formation team (which featured six-plane formations alternating with two solo aircraft), used the CT-114 Tutor." More info available at en.wikipedia.org This film was shot by my father in 1967 at one of seven US shows put on by the Golden Centennaires. He was stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida at the time, so the show was likely somewhere near there.

Canadian Centennial Heritage Flight [HD] - CF-18, Hawk One, Tutor - Toronto Air Show - CIAS 2009
In celebration of 100 Years of Flight in Canada, the Canadian Centennial Heritage Flight features a CF-18 Hornet, dubbed the 'Century Hornet', with a full-body paint scheme designed to commemorate the Canadian Centennial of Flight. It incorporates classic Canadian Air Force motifs such as the lightning bolt on the fuselage and full-colour roundels. The centennial logo, designed by Dave O'Malley of Ottawa, is featured on both tails in full colour and faded blues. more info: www.airforce.forces.gc.ca --- The F-86 Sabre Hawk One was also repainted in the colours of the legendary Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Golden Hawks to celebrate the 100th anniversary of powered flight in Canada, just as the Golden Hawks were created on March 1, 1959 to celebrate the 50th anniversary. more info: www.airforce.forces.gc.ca --- The Centennaire Tutor, similar to the CT-114 Tutor used by the Snowbirds, was also painted to commemorate the Canadian Centennial of Flight. more info: www.snowbirds.forces.gc.ca --- 100 Years of Flight in Canada - www.canadiancentennialofflight.ca To learn more about the show: www.CIAS.org Photography itsthebean - www.flickr.com Video: Filmed in HD Sep 5-7, 2009 ©2009 SavageLettuce

My Choice 341 - CANADA Centennial Song
"CANADA" or "The Centennial Song" - (French version: "Une chanson du centenaire") - was written by Bobby Gimby in 1967 to celebrate Canada's centennial and Expo 67, and was commissioned by the Centennial Commission (a special Federal Government agency). The song was written in both of Canada's official languages, English and French. The song's recording was performed by the Young Canada Singers, who were two groups of children; one who sang the French lyrics, led by Montreal conductor Raymond Berthiaume, and another who sang in English, under conductor Laurie Bower in Toronto. In 1971, Gimby donated all royalties to the Boy Scouts of Canada, but the song only earned one cent per airplay, which is one of the lowest rates in the world. Canadian Navy Centennial Closing Ceremony at Port Moody BC Oct 02, 2010
The 2010 Canadian Navy Centennial came to a close on October 02, 2010 at Port Moody BC, a small inner harbor just east of the City of Vancouver. As part of the closing ceremony, a memorial bell was presented to the city of Port Moody. Copies of a commemorative book were passed out by Jim Bodo, President of the Port Moody Legion Branch #119 to various participants. To start off the event, the Vancouver Naval Veterans Band played 'Maple Leaf Forever' together with the Canadian anthem 'O Canada'. Conservative MP and Minister of Canadian Heritage & Official Languages, James Moore, was on hand to give thanks and talked about the importance of volunteer service. To top off the occasion, Sandra Baron of the Port Moody Commemorative Society unveiled a plaque with a dedication of a commemorative garden to honor Canadian women who served in the military. Canadian Navy Centennial Celebration
VICTORIA - It is a tradition dating back more than three centuries. The Freedom of the City parade is held only once in a generation. The last time Victoria hosted the celebration was 25 years ago when the Navy marked its 75th anniversary. May 4th, 2010 is the Naval Centennial which is being celebrated with dozens of events throughout the year. The Freedom of the City parade attracted about 3000 personnel as well as veterans, spectators and dignitaries. The Commander of Maritime Forces Pacific and Joint Task Force Pacific says it is the Navy's hope that Canadians will join sailors across the country and serving overseas as they commemorate the past, celebrate today and commit to the future. For navy families and ships' crew alike, there is nothing that compares to that moment when a ship has returned to homeport. And there is nothing quite like that moment on the jetty, the hugs and kisses and tears of "the homecoming". The moment has been captured forever in a sculpture unveiled in the inner harbour today as part of the navy celebration. Included is an interview with Commander Tony Derosenroll of Maritime Forces Pacific.
