Florac est une ancienne commune française, située dans le département de la Lozère en région Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées, devenue, le 1er janvier 2016, une commune déléguée de la commune nouvelle de Florac-Trois-Rivières. Elle est également le siège du parc national des Cévennes.
La commune adoptera le nom de Florac-Trois-Rivières, à compter du 1er janvier 2016, suite à la fusion de celle-çi avec La Salle-Prunet.
Ses habitants sont appelés les Floracois.

De Sainte Cécile d'Andorge à Florac au temps du CFD
Le samedi 31 mars 1968, la ligne à voie métrique des CFD de Ste Cécile d'Andorge à Florac cessa sont activité. Ce train du « bout du monde », exploité à l'économie, conserva jusqu'au bout un charme particulier. Joël Royer qui le fréquenta dans son enfance a voulu en conserver la mémoire en publiant un important ouvrage historique en 2001. Puis l'idée fut « suggérée » aux Editions du Cabri de le faire revivre dans un DVD. C'est ainsi que nous sommes partis à la recherche des images de cette ligne. Mais le CFD Lozère n'a jamais connu le même engouement auprès des amateurs que son voisin du Vivarais. Malgré tout, nous avons pu retrouver en France et à l'étranger une multitude de petites séquences de quelques minutes chacune. Grâce au talent de Fabrice Lanoue et aux conseils avisés de Joël Royer, ces images, judicieusement montées et sonorisées, sont devenues un film passionnant. Avec lui le « CéFéDé » cher aux Lozériens est de retour, il vit, il bouge, le « pin-pon » des autorails De Dion Bouton raisonne à nouveau dans la boucle de St Frézal de Ventalon.

Florac
Florac is a commune of the Lozère department in southern France.
History
Medieval
Raymond of Anduze held the barony of Florac and is recorded as using the castle there in the 13th century. In 1363 local born Pope Urban V lent the town 300 florins for the construction of ramparts. Such defences were not at all unusual and offered desirable security and protection for the townspeople. These Medieval city walls finally came down in 1629 after the Edict of Alès, which despite allowing some concessions for Huguenots, insisted on the pulling down of fortifications at perceived 'strongholds'.
19th century
Florac was visited by a young Robert Louis Stevenson and features as a chapter in his droll Victorian bestseller Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes (1879).

Ecclesiastical
The French Wars of Religion resulted in the destruction of Florac's medieval catholic church in 1561 and sometime after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685, Florac's first Protestant church was also razed.

Préride des Championnats d'Europe d'endurance équestre à Florac (France) L'équipe de France sera composée de Virginie Atger, Sunny Demédy, Julien Goachet et Bénédicte Santisteva a remporté la médaille d'or des championnats d'Europe d'endurance FEI courus à Florac le samedi 10 septembre 2011. Pierre Fleury, qui courait en individuel, obtient la médaille de bronze. L'or est pour l'espagnole Maria Alvarez Ponton et l'argent pour l'allemande Sabrina Arnold. Virginie Atger obtient le prix de la meilleure condition. Follow us on our trip through Bretagne, visiting Rennes, Saint Malo, and the sculpted rocks of Rothéneuf. Val and I finally took a holiday! Woo-hoo! After a 5 hour road-trip from Paris to the region of Brittany, we explored the amazing Bretagne architecture and sights along the cobble-stoned streets of Rennes. Then, we headed off to see the seaside city of Saint Malo, famous for it's privateering and pirate history. With numerous fortifications along the French coast and on islands in the English Channel it is a magnificent sight to behold! Finally, we ended up at the Sculpted Rocks of Rotheneuf aka Les Rochers Sculptés. Over 500m2 over carved natural cliff-face, created by a hermit priest who suffered a stroke at 30yo and spent the next 25 years carving the coastal cliffs with one w...

Val and I finally took a holiday! Woo-hoo! After a 5 hour road-trip from Paris to the region of Brittany, we explored the amazing Bretagne architecture and sights along the cobble-stoned streets of Rennes.
Then, we headed off to see the seaside city of Saint Malo, famous for it's privateering and pirate history. With numerous fortifications along the French coast and on islands in the English Channel it is a magnificent sight to behold!

http://www.breakaway-adventures.com - Situated in the heart of the southern Andalucian province of Axarquia, and on the edge of the Tejeda National Park, the recently restored Hotel Finca el Cerrillo is, quite simply, an absolute gem of a place to stay. Its just 30 minutes drive from the coast, yet feels a million miles away!
There are just ten individually styled en-suite rooms all south facing - and each with air conditioning (central heating for the cooler months) and tea/coffee making facilities. The living areas include a wonderfully atmospheric beamed lounge cool in summer and kept cosy on winter nights with blazing log fire dining room, small library and honesty bar. Outside, the terraced gardens, with 100-year old carob and palm trees, surround both sunny and shaded patios. The pool affords stunning views of the valley below and the pretty Moorish village of Archez with its C13 Moorish tower.
The food here is superb with menus relying on fresh, local produce. On four evenings, you eat at the Finca either in the dining room or al fresco on warm evenings and on the remaining nights we take you to our favorite local restaurants. Wine (1/2 bottle per person) is always included throughout as are all breakfasts and picnic/ tapas lunches.
Experienced mountain leaders, Dave Parsons and Andrew Paterson, will accompany all walks. Some of our paths will take us off-the-beaten-track in the Tejeda National Park; on other days, well be exploring the pretty white villages and olive planted hillsides that date back to Moorish times.
