BFI Southbank
BFI Southbank (formerly known as the National Film Theatre) is the leading repertory cinema in the UK specialising in seasons of classic, independent and non-English language films and is operated by the British Film Institute.
The National Film Theatre was initially opened in a temporary building (the Telekinema) at the Festival of Britain in 1951 and moved to its present location in 1957, replacing the Thameside restaurant on the site. Subsequently, Southbank Centre expanded its buildings to meet the National Film Theatre from the south, while the Royal National Theatre now occupies the area to the north-east.
On 14 March 2007, the National Film Theatre was relaunched as BFI Southbank in considerably enlarged premises, taking over space that had been used by the Museum of the Moving Image. In addition to the three pre-existing auditoria, the complex now includes a studio, a médiathèque, gallery space, a shop, and a bar and restaurant run by Benugo.
It is sited below the southern end of Waterloo Bridge, forming part of the cultural complex on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. The site comprises three cinemas and studio space, as well as cafes and exhibition space. It also has a large bar area in the foyer, where smaller performances are sometimes held.

North London
North London is the northern part of London, England. It is an imprecise description and the area it covers is defined differently for a range of purposes. Common to these definitions is that it includes districts located north of the River Thames and is used in comparison with South London. However, it is also often used in comparisons with Central London, East London and West London.
The River Thames divides Greater London into two parts. The northern part includes most of the historic central areas including the City, the East End and the West End; and the majority of the London Underground network.
This area is made up of the City of London and the London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Enfield, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Havering, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, and Westminster. This definition is used by the Boundary Commission for England. The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames includes sections on both sides of the River Thames. The boundary commission class the entire district as part of South London.

Anne-Marie Duff
Anne-Marie Duff (born 8 October 1970) is an English actress best known for playing Fiona Gallagher in Shameless, and Elizabeth I in The Virgin Queen.
Duff was born on 8 October 1970, the younger of two children of Irish immigrants – her father was a painter and decorator and her mother worked in a shoe shop. The family lived in Southall, Middlesex, and Anne-Marie went to a comprehensive school. At an early age, Anne-Marie attended a local youth theatre in order to battle her shy nature and soon became hooked on the stage.
In her mid-teens, involved in an amateur theatre company, she began to think seriously about applying to drama schools. Her first application was rejected. “At the time, I was desperately unhappy about it, but I just wasn’t polished. I got too nervous in the audition. It wasn’t a world I was familiar with…” So she went away and did some more A levels and studied Film and Theatre Studies.
At the age of 19, she ended up alongside John Simm, Anastasia Hille and her good friend, Paul Bettany at the Drama Centre in London.

Arvind Ethan David
Arvind Ethan David, (born 21 February 1975) is a Malaysian born, British film producer, founder of Slingshot Productions. He is best known for producing David Baddiel’s The Infidel in 2010. Other feature films he has produced include Tormented starring Alex Pettyfer and French Film starring Hugh Bonneville and Manchester United football legend Eric Cantona - with the latter winning Best Actor for Bonneville and Best Screenplay for Aschlin Ditta at the 2008 Monte Carlo Film Festival.
David founded film production and finance company Slingshot in 2005 in partnership with Norwegian venture capitalist Thomas Hoegh. They were soon being viewed as dynamic entrepreneurs by respected trades such as Variety, as the company quickly established itself as a notable player in the UK film scene. Slingshot has produced and co-financed five movies in the subsequent five years. They secured co-financing for Tormented with BBC Films and Screen West Midlands, and a distribution partnership with Pathe and Warner Bros.

Aschlin Ditta was born on June 20, 1968 in Barnet, north London, UK, and was brought up in Leicester and then Ely in the Fens. His father, Douglas, was an actor and his mother, Pamela, a florist. Aschlin works as a television and film writer. His background is in comedy and he was a stand-up comedian and actor, having trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, London.
He has written three series and two specials of The Catherine Tate Show with Catherine Tate, winning several awards, and has written for many television shows including Channel 4's No Angels. He has also written several feature films including Scenes of a Sexual Nature (2006) and French Film (2009) for which he won Best Screenplay at the Monte Carlo Film Festival, 2008. He lives in North London with his partner, the actress Georgina Rich, and their daughter Nancy (born 2009).

Douglas Henshall
Douglas James Henshall (born 19 November 1965) is a Scottish actor probably best known for his role as Professor Nick Cutter in the British science fiction series Primeval.
Douglas Henshall was born in Glasgow, Scotland. His mother is a nurse whilst his father is a salesman, and he has two elder sisters. He grew up in Barrhead and attended Barrhead High School. While at school he joined the Scottish Youth Theatre based in Glasgow. After leaving school, he moved to London to train at Mountview Theatre School. While in London he received critical acclaim for his theatre work, notably Life of Stuff at the Donmar Warehouse (1993) and American Buffalo at the Young Vic (1997). He returned to Glasgow and joined the 7:84 theatre company. Henshall is a fan of St Mirren Football Club. He is married to Croatian writer Tena Štivičić.
In 1993 he appeared in Dennis Potter's television adaptation of Lipstick On Your Collar. He also portrayed T.E. Lawrence in a reoccurring role in the American television series Young Indiana Jones (1992-1996}. One of his first successful film roles was as Edgar in Angels and Insects (1995) before going on to star in Sharpe's Justice (1997), Orphans (1998), The Man with Rain in His Shoes (1998), The Lawless Heart (2001) and Silent Cry (2002). He has also starred in many television series and is known for his roles in Psychos (1999), Kid in the Corner (1999) (for which he won a gold nymph as best actor in a mini-series at the Monte-Carlo TV festival in 2000), and Loving You (2003). He has also performed in plays for BBC radio, including the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (1999) and David in The Long Farewell (2002). In the summer of 2002, Douglas returned to the London stage where he performed the role of Michael Bakunin in Tom Stoppard's new trilogy of plays, The Coast of Utopia, at the National Theatre.

Ken Loach
Kenneth "Ken" Loach (born 17 June 1936) is a Palme D'Or winning English film and television director.
He is known for his naturalistic, social realist directing style and for his socialist beliefs, which are evident in his film treatment of social issues such as homelessness (Cathy Come Home) and labour rights (Riff-Raff).
Loach was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, the son of Vivien (née Hamlin) and John Loach. He attended King Edward VI Grammar School and following two years in the Royal Air Force read law at St Peter's College, Oxford. There he performed in the now well-established comedy group, the Oxford Revue. He initially worked as an actor in repertory theatre, but in the early 1960s moved into television direction and was credited in this role on early episodes of Z-Cars in 1964.
In 1966, Loach made the influential docudrama Cathy Come Home portraying working class people affected by homelessness and unemployment, and presenting a powerful and influential critique of the workings of the Social Services. Soon afterwards with Poor Cow (1967) he started directing films for the cinema, and in 1969 made Kes, the story of a troubled boy and his kestrel, based on the novel A Kestrel for a Knave by Barry Hines. The British Film Institute named it No 7 in its list of best British films of the twentieth century, published in 1999.

Victoria Hamilton
Victoria Sharp (born 1971) is an English actress who performs under the stage name Victoria Hamilton.
Hamilton was born on 5 April 1971 in Wimbledon, London, England, and grew up in Godalming, Surrey. She trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Hamilton is best known for her roles in costume drama. She appears as Ruby Pratt, one of the major characters in the BBC1 series Lark Rise to Candleford. She also played Queen Victoria in the BBC-TV production Victoria & Albert in 2001.
She also appeared in Midsomer Murders, Series 4 Episode 1, "Garden of Death" as Hilary Inkpen-Thomas, a downtrodden illegitimate daughter who becomes a killer.
She has been a member of the Peter Hall Company, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, as well as appearing in the West End and on Broadway. In 1995, she appeared in Ibsen's The Master Builder directed by Peter Hall and starring Alan Bates and Gemma Jones.

Instead, he wastes his day hanging around with other unemployed and aimless "losers". He falls for Lila (Vahina Giacante), a beautiful blonde sixteen-year-old who just moved into the neighborhood with her eccentric and sexually abusive aunt. Lila is a self-styled "bad girl" who presents an overtly sexual person; they begin a tentative romance after Lila invites him to look up her skirt while she rides a swing. Meanwhile, Mouloud (Karim Ben Haddou), Chimo's best friend and leader of their band of friends, also sets his sights on Lila. He begins to sexually harass Lila, not allowing her to walk the streets of the neighborhood unmolested. Chimo's disgust at Mouloud's behaviour towards Lila creates a huge rift between them. Ghajini (Hindi: गजनी) is a 2008 Indian psychological thriller film written and directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Tagore Madhu and Madhu Mantena. The Soundtrack and film's score is by AR Rahman. It is a remake of Murugadoss's own 2005 Tamil film Ghajini starring Surya Sivakumar in the lead role.[4] The film stars Aamir Khan, Asin Thottumkal and Jiah Khan in lead roles while Pradeep Rawat and Riyaz Khan essay supporting roles. The Tamil version of Ghajini was inspired by Christopher Nolan's Memento. Aamir Khan spent a year at the gym, training for the role.

Apologies for the really bad video quality, I did not capture this, although would love to come across a better quality version.

French Film is a 2008 British comedy film directed by Jackie Oudney and starring Anne-Marie Duff, Hugh Bonneville, Victoria Hamilton, Douglas Henshall and Eric Cantona.[1] The film was shot in Spring 2007 at various locations around London including Waterloo station and the BFI Southbank.[2]

Two relationships in North London simultaneously draw to a close. Jed, a journalist has fallen in love with his best friend's former girlfriend - but he lacks the courage to approach her and tell her of his true feelings. He turns for advice to Thierry Grimaldi a French film director who tries to school him in the French philosophy of love.
Reception[link]
Reviews to the film were mixed, but many were negative. The Daily Mail described the film as "plodding and predictable - frightfully English, and not in a good way".[3] The Daily Telegraph compared the dramatic function Cantona plays in the film as a man who reveals "some hidden truths - insights and wisdom denied to most men" to a similar role in the Ken Loach film Looking for Eric released at the same time.[4]
