Red Fort Lal Quila, Delhi
This magnificent palace aka Lal Quila was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The foundation stone was laid in 1618 when Shah Jahan decided to move to Delhi from Agra. The monument was inaugurated in 1647. Like most Mughal architectural wonders, Red Fort was built with red sandstone and in fact derives its name from the granite that was used. This octagon-shaped monument has two entrances Lahore Gate and Delhi Gate. Lahore Gate entrance takes it name from the fact that it faces Lahore, now in Pakistan. The main entrance of Lal Quila opens on to royal market - Chatta Chowk that used to house jewelers, weavers and goldsmith. Chatta Chowk is also known as Meena Bazaar. Red Fort has a hall for public audience - The Diwan-e-Aam - and a hall for private audience - Diwan-e-Khas. The Diwan-e-Aam was used by the Mughal emperors to hold court and to meet dignitaries and foreign emissaries. The highly ornamented white marble pavilion of Red Fort - Diwan-e-Khas once housed the Peacock Throne which was plundered by Nadir Shah in 1739. It is believed that enamored by the beauty of Diwan-e-Khas the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan got the following words engraved on the building: "If there is paradise on the face of this earth, it is this, it is this." Lal Quila also stands witness to the end of Mughal rule and freedom of India from colonial rule. British deposed the last Mughal ruler, Bhadur Shah Zafar at the Red Fort. India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru announced India's freedom ...

Jean Negulesco — The Invincible Six (1970): Crown Jewel Treasury Clip
belog.jigaram.com Clip from Jean Negulesco's 1970 feature The Invincible Six. Shot and financed entirely in Iran, the film features a predominantly B Hollywood cast (in this clip we see German bombshell Elke Sommer as an Iranian village vixen) save for Behrouz Vossoughi and a couple of others in minor supporting roles. The production team includes some notable Iranian names such as Masoud Kimiai, credited as assistant director, and Fereydoun Hoveyda, as "consultant."

Red Fort
A magnificent marvel of the Mughal period, Red Fort presents a spectacular sight for the onlookers. The name Red Fort comes from the red sandstone material used to make this majestic monument. Built by the great Emperor Shah Jahan, this architectural masterpiece bespeaks of the glory and might of the Mughals. Red Fort was built during 1639 and 1648. It has walls built in red sandstone, which extend up to 2 kms in length and more than 18 mts in height. The entry to this splendid structure is from the Lahori Gate and the Delhi Gate. The latter gate faces the bustling market of Chandni Chowk, whose ambience is infused with the charm of a bygone era. The two most important halls of this majestic fort are Diwan-i-Am and the Diwan-i-Khas. The former is the hall of public audiences, where the emperor used to address grievances and complaints of the common people, and the latter is the hall where he used to hold private meetings with important dignitaries. Diwan-i-Khas housed the gem-studded peacock throne, which Nadir Shah plundered in 1739, during his siege of Delhi. However, Red Fort is not only about architecture and heritage. It houses a busy market within its precincts too, which is called Meena Bazaar, where one can shop for ethnic items. Centuries have gone by.... but even today the Red Fort stands tall as a symbol of power, might and glory. From here only, the Prime Minister addresses the nation, on our Independence Day. It is much more than a mere tourist attraction.

Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar ناصرالدین شاه قاجار
Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar [1] (July 16, 1831 - May 1, 1896) (Persian: ناصرالدین شاه قاجار transliteration: Nāṣirid-Dīn Shāh Qājār) was the King and Shah of Persia from September 17, 1848 to May 1, 1896 when he was assassinated. He was the son of Mohammad Shah Qajar and the second longest reigning monarch king in Persian history after Shapur II of the Sassanid Dynasty. He had sovereign power for close to 50 years and was also the first Persian monarch to ever write and publish his diaries. He was in Tabriz when he heard of his father's death in 1848, and he ascended to the Peacock Throne with the help of Amir Kabir. He tried to recover the part of eastern Persia (especially Herat) that had come into the British sphere of control but after the British attack on Bushehr (Anglo-Persian War), he had to retreat. Herat is today a part of Afghanistan. Nasser-al-Din Shah was forced to sign the Declaration of Paris granting Afghanistan supremacy over the former Persian territories. Though Nasser al-Din had early reformist tendencies, he was dictatorial in his style of government. He persecuted Bábís and Bahá'ís, and this increased when a deranged Bábí attempted to assassinate him in 1852. He was the first modern Persian monarch to visit Europe in 1873 and then again in 1878 (when he saw a Royal Navy Fleet Review), and finally in 1889 and was reportedly amazed with the technology he saw there. During his visit to the United Kingdom in 1873, Nasser al-Din Shah was appointed by Queen ...

Shahjahan : Emperor of Great Mughal Empire : شاه جهان: المغول العظيم
Shah Jahan (also spelled Shah Jehan, Shahjehan,(Urdu: شاه جہاں, Persian:شاه جهان) (January 5, 1592--January 22, 1666) was emperor of the Mughal Empire in South Asia from 1628 until 1658. The name Shah Jahan comes from Persian, meaning "Ruler of Everywhere". He was the fifth Mughal emperor after Babur, Humayun, Akbar, and Jahangir. While young, he was the favourite of his legendary grandfather, Akbar the Great. Alahazar Kabulmuzafar Sahbuddin Mohammad Shahjahan At a young age, he was chosen as successor to the Mughal throne after the death of Emperor Jahangir. He succeeded to the throne upon his father's death in 1627. He is considered to be one of the greatest Mughals. His reign has been called the Golden Age of the Mughals and one of the most prosperous ages of Indian civilization. Like Akbar, he was eager to expand his vast empire. In 1658, he fell ill and was confined by his son Emperor Aurangzeb in Agra Fort until his death in 1666. The period of his reign was the golden age of Mughal architecture. Shahanshah Shah Jahan erected many splendid monuments, the most famous of which is the Taj Mahal at Agra, built in 1632-1648 as a tomb for his beloved wife, Empress Mumtaz Mahal. The Moti Masjid, Agra and many other buildings in Agra, the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid in Delhi, mosques in Lahore, extensions to Lahore Fort and a mosque in Thatta also commemorate him. The famous Takht-e-Taus or the Peacock Throne, said to be worth millions of dollars by modern estimates, also ...

Download the album for FREE: www.djbooth.net Info: www.revolutionofthemind.com http Verse 1: I never seen a man cry 'til that man died, nothing starts something like fucking with a man's pride, the children arrive from rushing to the bedside, of my father's demise in 1975. He had love for his people and told 'em, the Shah was a puppet and their wealth had been stolen, And then pops bled at the mercy of captors, with tricks they had learned from their American masters. As his voice quivered, blood bubbled up in his throat, Pops took me by the wrist and pledged me to an oath, "Swear to take it to the streets in the face of the beast, and help put this people's Revolution up on its feet." And so we moved in silence and quietly we organized, psychological war, a battle for the people's minds, In control, nothing's left to chance, Ayatollahs sent us underground cassettes from France. We began to seize power and the youth grew proud, declaring in one voice that we'd no longer allow, that these Anglos and pawns control our home, and brought forth the demise of the Peacock Throne. Chorus: My brother, I suffered, I led for my people, Thought, I fought, I bled for my people, Weep, I grieve, I mourn for my people, Until we are free, I'm at war for my people, Soldiers don't hide, I ride for my people, Anything to restore the pride for my people, Screaming to the sky, I cry for my people ...

The shah, Coup 1953, کودتاي ۲۸ امرداد - BANISADR, بني صدر
Mullah-CIA-MI6: Operation Ajax - 19 August 1953 in IRAN - Kermit "Kim" Roosevelt, Jr. (February 16, 1916 -- June 8, 2000), was a Special Activities Division political action officer who coordinated the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) Operation Ajax, which orchestrated the coup d'état against Iran's prime minister, Mohammed Mosaddeq, and returned Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran, to Iran's Peacock Throne in August 1953. He was also the grandson of American president Theodore Roosevelt. In the Islamic Republic, remembrance of the coup is quite different than that of history books published in the West, and follows the precepts of Ayatollah Khomeini that Islamic jurists must guide the country to prevent "the influence of foreign powers". According to historian Ervand Abrahamian, the government tries to ignore Mosaddeq as much as possible and allocates him only two pages in "high school textbooks." "The mass media elevate Ayatollah Abol-Ghasem Kashani as the real leader of the oil nationalization campaign, depicting Mosaddeq as merely the ayatollah's hanger-on." This is despite the fact that Kashani came out against Mosaddeq by mid-1953 and "told a foreign correspondent that Mossaddeq had fallen because he had forgotten that the shah enjoyed extensive popular support." A month later, Kashani "went even further and declared that Mosaddeq deserved to be executed because he had committed the ultimate offense: rebelling against the shah, `betraying` the country, and ...

Vivaldi National Iranian Radio Television Chamber Orchestra Emil Tchakarov
The National Iranian Radio Television chamber orchestra was formed in 1967. Its inaugural concert took place on the first night of the Shiraz-Persepolis Festival of arts, in the presence of HIM the Shahbanou, with Yehudi Menuhin as soloist, and Vahe Kojayan, conductor. It performed regularly in Iran's main cities and appeared in international festivals in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Moscow, Leningrad, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland. Warmly acclaimed at home and abroad, it received reviews such as the one by Henry Louis de la Grange in MUSIC AND MUSICIANS: "high level of excellence...refinement...polish". Sadly, the 1979 events, which led to the islamist regime, dramatically changed the state's cultural priorities and this brilliant orchestra fell into oblivion. Emil Tchakarov, born in 1948 in Bourgas, Bulgaria, was a rising star in the 1970's and 1980's. In 1971 he received the third prize in the Herbert von Karajan Second International Competition of Conductors, in Berlin, and in 1972 he receives the second prize with his Bulgarian Youth Chamber Orchestra, in the Herbert von Karajan Second International Youth Orchestra Competition. Karajan was impressed by Tchakarov's brilliant musical memory and purposeful nature. He went on building a brilliant career with many collaborations with great names, until his early death in 1991. In 1978, the NIRT chamber orchestra and Tchakarov made a truly world-class recording of baroque pieces. A "volume II" was supposed to follow, but of ...

NAOS - The Four Stations
Throne of the Peacock; Earth's ochre flower Fourfold its petals, subtle its power. On the wings of the winds, A green star sings With Serpents' breath from afar. The Elephant bears an immortal pearl Elixir drips from the silver pool In the court of the autumn Moon. Heart of flame, scarlet pyre Destroying Tyger wreath'd in fire Golden Sun of the inmost Name. (Lyric by Nigel Jackson - music by Patti Jackson - vocals, keyboards, zither & Nigel Jackson - synthesizer, percussion. Recorded March 2011 in a subterranean studio-complex deep under the Pennines.) This song and art video is a contemplative-aesthetic creation inspired by arcane symbolism drawn from certain obscure Sufi texts composed in 17th century Bengal. Several years ago I illustrated a selection of 78 couplets from the great medieval Persian poet Mowlana Djalal-Al-Din Balkhi, arranged after the pattern of a 'Muluk-wa-Nuwwab' ('Kings and Viziers') card-deck from the Mamluk period and wrote a commentary on these images. Whilst researching this book (which along with the deck of 78 symbolic images was subsequently published in the USA as the Rumi Tarot in 2009) I discovered and was struck by the doctrines and methods originally transmitted by 17th century Bengali dervishes constituting a unique synthesis of Islamic theosophy and Tantrik Yoga expressed in such recondite works as 'Qalandar Yoga' by Sayyed Martuza and the 'Chari Maqam-bhed' of Abd al-Hakim. . These yogic treatises described the mystical and initiatory ...

In the Face of Tyranny - Poem after Texas Straw Poll Tragedy
This is an original poem from an unnamed poet after the Texas Straw Poll. I thought this poem deserved its own video, along with uninterrupted lyrics in the description. Bravo to the poet, it reminds me of after every Shakespearean tragedy, there is a soliloquy at the end summing the morale of the story. The tragedy, our interventionist policy. Further tragedy includes anti-war, pro-Ron Paul delegates where turned away at the door at the Straw Poll by the GOP. A strike against everyone's civil rights. www.youtube.com Digg that article at: www.digg.com Make it known that the GOP will be held accountable! Digg the article, reply and rate the video. But their story is never told 'cause it conflicts with his And the texts that we've been given leave out an awful lot. Somewhere Around The Throne - The Mighty Clouds Of Joy,"Pray For Me"
If you think quartet, you'll quickly think of The Mighty Clouds of Joy. How could you not, when the group is still going strong after 50 years? Adept at mixing the The Mighty Clouds of Joy relevant sounds of their contemporary peers with their impeccable traditional stylings, the Clouds remain a mainstay on Gospel's quartet circuit, as well as on the Gospel charts. Formed in Los Angeles in 1950s by Joe Ligon and Johnny Martin, the group began with members Ermant and Elmo Franklin, Leon Polk and Richard Wallace rounding out their ranks. Their debut single, a cover of the spiritual "Steal Away to Jesus", was issued by the famous Peacock Records label in 1960, with their first LP available one year later — Family Circle. The Mighty Clouds of Joy From there, the Clouds polished their act, bringing in costumes, choreography and an irresistable appeal both to the churched and to those outside. Indeed, with comparisons to mainstream groups such as The Temptations, they became a very hard act to follow. As the first quartet to add contemporary instruments (drums, bass, keyboard) to their sound (and engendering some inevitable controversy in doing so), they began their long road to envelope pushing. Perhaps their most famous moment in that regard was when their single "Mighty High" rocketed to stardom on the disco charts in the 1970's, ushering in an era of contemporary Gospel music that reigns to this day. From their appearances on Soul Train, to being included in tours from ...
