If your ex-girlfriend and your current girlfriend were both drowning, who would you save? It’s like a scene from a cheesy drama. Unfortunately, one young man in Chongqing, China was forced to answer this question on the afternoon of Oct. 31st. The young man, his ex-girlfriend and his current girlfriend all agreed to meet up near the bank of the Yangtze River to discuss relationship problems the three of them had been having. The ex-girlfriend had been demanding the man to leave his current girlfriend and come back to her. To demonstrate how serious she was, she jumped into the river. The boyfriend then jumped into the river after her, presumably because she couldn’t swim. Witnesses say that the remaining woman on the shore yelled at them for a few seconds before jumping in as well. Unfortunately, the only two to reach the shore were the young man and the ex-girlfriend. The current girlfriend was nowhere to be seen and it wasn’t until almost 10 minutes later that a fishing boat came to the rescue and was able to locate her body. Once on shore emergency personnel confirmed that the woman was dead. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. NINE ELEVEN - Face The Triangle / 24 Years Ep Out 09/11/2013 on Nine Eleven Conspiracy. Recorded and mixed by Amaury Sauvé at "La Senelle", Laval FRANCE. Mastered by Nick Zampiello & Rob Gonnella at New Alliance East, Cambridge, MA, USA. Keep updated : https://www.facebook.com/nineeleven http://nineelevenhxc.blogspot.fr http://nineeleven.bandcamp.com Lyrics : On the «grand Saint Antoine», the crow's nest Is the last haven in this fuckin' cell. And up here, We can feel hell blowing... It storms on our heretic face. Cannibals are huddled down there And laid siege on the deck. Feeding their soul with love For dead-eyed models, And ready to hit everyone Who dares not to sell Their body and name to illusions they serve. «Hope» that got off their word Is rotting on the river's left shore. Anyway, What could those who crossed These muddy banks share? If that's not just fears and regrets ? // -The sandman is speaking to us from the crowd of cannibals : // «You, the sheeps of God, Our sweet Lord, You shall rock The quick and the dead At his appearing and his kingdom. All those you see around come up like : - the ones who like all the pretty songs - And they like to sing along - and they like to drink beer bongs. But they don't know what it means. So come join me in Eden, Where are drawn lines of heaven. That the common run of idiots Spends a lifetime working for none And take place amongst the sentries Who look out for their sleep, Cause you and I know well That a soft bed Seals the strongest of the wills Better than a grave. » - What we answer back :

Fantastic performance footage of one of Jazz's greatest stars - Duke Ellington. With performances of song of his most famous songs including "Mood Indigo", "Caravan" & "Sophisticated Lady" Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington was an American composer, pianist, and big-band leader. Ellington wrote over 1,000 compositions. A major figure in the history of jazz, Ellington's music stretched into various other genres. His career spanned more than 50 years and included leading his orchestra, composing an inexhaustible songbook, scoring for movies, composing stage musicals, and world tours. Several of his instrumental works were adapted into songs that became standards. Due to his inventive use of the orchestra, or big band, and thanks to his eloquence and extraordinary charisma, he is generally considered to have elevated the perception of jazz to an art form on a par with other traditional genres of music. His reputation increased after his death and the Pulitzer Prize Board bestowed on him a special posthumous honor in 1999. Ellington called his music "American Music" rather than jazz, and liked to describe those who impressed him as "beyond category." 1. Sophisticated Lady 2. Caravan 3. The Mooch 4. V.I.P's Boogie 5. Juan Tizol interview - circa 1974 UCLA documentary project
This is a portion of a documentary project I produced while a grad student at UCLA back around 1974 called "Reminiscing In Tempo". I was fortunate to interview many of the great musicians who had played with Duke Ellington's band over the years, among them the great drummer Louie Bellson. The interview segment is followed by a small group version of "Cottontail" featuring Duke Ellington on piano, Joe Pass on guitar, Ray Brown on bass, and Louie Bellson on drums.

Although it is billed as a Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges album, Side by Side is a 1959 album mostly under the leadership of Johnny Hodges, Duke Ellington's alto saxophonist for many years. Ellington only appears on three of this album's tracks. The album places Hodges at the fore, backing him with piano by Ellington or Billy Strayhorn and providing other accompaniment by well-known jazz figures like Ben Webster, Roy Eldridge, Harry "Sweets" Edison and Jo Jones. The album, a follow-up to the popular Back to Back: Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges Play the Blues, has remained perpetually in print. Track Listing: 1. "Stompy Jones" (Duke Ellington) 2. "Just Squeeze Me" (Fats Waller, Clarence Williams) 3. "Big Shoe" (Jimmy Hamilton) 4. "Going Up" (D. Ellington) 5. "Just a Memory" (Lew Brown, Buddy DeSylva, Ray Henderson) 6. "Let's Fall in Love" (Harold Arlen, Ted Koehler) 7. "Ruint" (Mercer Ellington, Johnny Hodges) 8. "Bend One" (Hodges) 9. "You Need to Rock" (Hodges) (C) 1959 Verve Jazz

The concluding part of an excellent documentary on Duke Ellington, broadcast on 10 May 1994 at 22.55 as part of BBC One's Omnibus arts strand. Co-written (with Geoffrey C. Ward), produced and directed by Robert S. Levi, this second part of the documentary focuses on Ellington's career from the exceptional 'Blanton Webster' band of the early 1940s up to Ellington's death in 1974. The documentary addresses the highs and lows of Ellington's life and work during these years - taking in the critical response to Black, Brown and Beige, the decline of the Ellington band's fortunes in the late 1940s and early 1950s, Ellington's legendary 'comeback' concert at the 1956 Newport Jazz Festival and Ellington's relationship with the civil rights movement and Martin Luther King, Jr. Contributors include Louie Bellson, Mercer Ellington, Mercedes Ellington, Herb Jeffries, Sid Kuller, Marion Logan, Albert Murray, Gunther Schuller, Bob Udkoff, Barry Ulanov and George Wein. The picture quality is variable alas due to the age of the recording.

The Golden Green Triangle Tour - 5 Days - 950km - 50% Road / 50% Track and Trail: Full Itinerary: Day 1: Chiang Rai to Chiang Khong - 170 km - Riding time 6 hours - Road / Trail / Track We depart for this tour from Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand. Chiang Rai is like a smaller mellower version of Chiang Mai, with an even more perfect climate. We meet early and have some breakfast together and discuss the tour ahead. After breakfast we head off north out of the city taking a fantastic route over mixed terrain which is challenging and has exceptional views and scenery. The route leads us up to Tachilek/Mae Sae, the busy trading border town on the Thai/Burma border. We park the bikes up and head into Burma on foot for a bit of Burmese lunch! After lunch and back in Thailand with the bikes - we head off east following the curves of the mighty Mekong river until we reach the infamous Golden Triangle where Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. Some great riding and pit stops at places of interest lead us eventually to the eccentric little town of Chiang Khong whose history is steeped in mystery, where we stay for the night by the banks of the Mekong - across the river from Laos - our destination in the morning. Day 2: Chiang Khong to Muang Sing - 230 km - Riding time 6 hours - Road / Track / Trail On our second day we rise with the sun as we have a long and adventurous day ahead. As usual we fill our bikes with petrol and our tummies with food before we head off. We head over the new friendship bridge into Laos with 30 minutes or so to do the required paperwork with customs/exise and immigration. Once the formalities have been dispensed with - we head northeast, first on road and then on mixed road / track /trail terrain. We ride deep up into the northern Laos jungle through valleys, hills, dales and rivers until late in the day we arrive at Muang Sing. Muang Sing used to have a famous market not so long ago where all sorts of nefarious products were openly offered for sale. Nowadays it's a lot calmer but the leopard doesn't change it's spots, and the city is a fascinating look into an ancient swashbuckling age. We explore the town and take our lodgings and some supper. Day 3: Muang Sing - Green Triangle - Muang Sing - 120 km - Riding time 6 hours - Road / Track / Trail Today we go on a loop riding out of Muang Sing right up to the Green Triangle. This is the point where China, Laos and Burma meet. We ride some simple red mud tracks most of the way - testing, challenging and fun. The scenery is exceptional and the people are fascinating, warm and friendly. The ride takes us most of the day, as the natural speed limit set by the terrain keeps our pace slow. But right now it's not about speed - this is the end of the trail - miles up in the middle of nowhere on the edge of the great China. This really is a special day and a special place to visit. A true crossroads of Asian civilisations. We come back to Muang Sing for a second night and explore the town some more and generally have a bit of fun! Day 4: Muang Sing to Chiang Khong - 250 km - Riding time 4 hours - Road / Track / Trail Today, we head off back towards Thailand. We head south and then westwards through a stunning natural environment and a mixture of good roads and sections of track and trail. We wind our way through the mountains to Luang Namtha where we stop for lunch and a bit of local exploration. After lunch we head out of Luang Namtha towards the Bokeo province and through to Houy Xai. The route is outstanding and we stop at many little places of interest and several incredible viewpoints. The natural environment in Laos is truly awesome and today's ride takes us through a great cross section of it. We arrive for sunset at Houy Xai and drink a few cold ones by the banks of the Mekong before slipping back across the river to our guest house in Chiang Khong (Thailand). Day 5: Chiang Khong - Pu Chi Fa - Chiang Rai - 210 km - Riding time 4 hours - On Road We commence the day with a hearty breakfast before leaving town. We head out of the sleepy enclave and head towards Pu Chi Fa. This mountain towers over the Thai/Cambodia border and is little known to foreign tourists but revered by the Local Thais. With luck we reach the peak with mists still below in the valley giving us a feeling of being on top of the world. We take in the sights and sounds atop this majestic peak and take time for a relaxed lunch. After lunch we ride southwest out of the mountainous area and swing back west to Chiang Rai stopping in at the famous White Temple built by one of the top national artists. We arrive in Chiang Rai for sunset at one of the coolest and tastiest restaurants in town with a view to match for our farewell supper. [BBC Space Documentary] Ancient Egypts Superior Technology - NEW Science full HD The characteristics of ancient Egyptian technology are indicated by a set of artifacts and customs that lasted for thousands of years. The Egyptians invented and used many simple machines, such as the ramp and the lever, to aid construction processes. They used rope trusses to stiffen the beam of ships. Egyptian paper, made from papyrus, and pottery were mass-produced and exported throughout the Mediterranean basin. The wheel, however, did not arrive until foreign influence introduced the chariot in the 16th century BC. The Egyptians also played an important role in developing Mediterranean maritime technology including ships and lighthouses. Significant advances in ancient Egypt during the dynastic period include astronomy, mathematics, and medicine. Their geometry was a necessary outgrowth of surveying to preserve the layout and ownership of farmland, which was flooded annually by the Nile river. The 3,4,5 right triangle and other rules of thumb served to represent rectilinear structures, and the post and lintel architecture of Egypt. Egypt also was a center of alchemy research for much of the western world. The Nile valley has been the site of one of the most influential civilizations in the world with its architectural monuments, which include the pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx—among the largest and most famous buildings in the world. Giza Plateau, Cairo. Khafre's pyramid in the background The most famous pyramids are the Egyptian pyramids—huge structures built of brick or stone, some of which are among the largest constructions by humans. Pyramids functioned as tombs for pharaohs. In Ancient Egypt, a pyramid was referred to as mer, literally "place of ascendance." The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest in Egypt and one of the largest in the world. The base is over 13 acres (53,000 m2) in area. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the only one of the seven to survive into modern times. The Ancient Egyptians capped the peaks of their pyramids with gold and covered their faces with polished white limestone, although many of the stones used for the finishing purpose have fallen or been removed for use on other structures over the millennia. The Red Pyramid of Egypt (c.26th century BC), named for the light crimson hue of its exposed granite surfaces, is the third largest of Egyptian pyramids. Menkaure's Pyramid, likely dating to the same era, was constructed of limestone and granite blocks. The Great Pyramid of Giza (c. 2580 BC) contains a huge granite sarcophagus fashioned of "Red Aswan Granite." The mostly ruined Black Pyramid dating from the reign of Amenemhat III once had a polished granite pyramidion or capstone, now on display in the main hall of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo (see Dahshur). Other uses in Ancient Egypt,[8] include columns, door lintels, sills, jambs, and wall and floor veneer. The ancient Egyptians had some of the first monumental stone buildings (such as in Sakkara). How the Egyptians worked the solid granite is still a matter of debate. Archaeologist Patrick Hunt has postulated that the Egyptians used emery shown to have higher hardness on the Mohs scale. Regarding construction, of the various methods possibly used by builders, the lever moved and uplifted obelisks weighing more than 100 tons. ========================================= Watch more :http://goo.gl/MccsMM *** *** *** *** ========================================= Thanks for Watching Please Like and Subscribe to watch more videos

Sporting Life 2015-04-13Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington (April 29, 1899 – May 24, 1974) was an American composer, pianist, and big-band leader. Ellington wrote over 1,000 compositions. In the opinion of Bob Blumenthal of The Boston Globe "In the century since his birth, there has been no greater composer, American or otherwise, than Edward Kennedy Ellington." A major figure in the history of jazz, Ellington's music stretched into various other genres, including blues, gospel, film scores, popular, and classical.
