This is our Dirk Hartog Island Adventure Part 1. Hamelin To Steep Point. On our big lap around Australia.

This is our Dirk Hartog Island Adventure Part 1. Hamelin To Steep Point. On our big lap around Australia.
We ditch the caravan at Hamelin station stay, which in itself is a awesome place to spend a night or two, and we pack our $100 k-mart tent and along with a crate full of food and we hit the notoriously rough roads to make our way into Australia’s most western point. When we made it to Steep Point we took it all in with a hot cuppa at the Western most point of mainland Australia and then we witnessed a humpback whale breaching clear out of the water which just added to this already special moment that is sure to stay etched in our memories for a long time to come.
We then head to Shelter Bay where we set up our brand new tent for the first time in the wild. What a place to go camping for the second time ever as a family.
Just when we thought we would wind down with a few cold drinks and Chesse and crackers, the kids fishing rods take of and we spent the next couple of hours bringing in a good haul of fish and we kept a few to fry up for our first nights dinner. Doesn’t get any fresher or better than that.
