New 3D simulations have shown astrophysicists what would happen if an intermediate black hole consumed a star. Looking like a messy toddler, the black hole would take a few bites during every orbit then eject the leftovers. A radar scan of the Malaspina Glacier in
Alaska revealed that its bulk lies below sea level and is undercut by channels that may allow ocean water underneath. If this occurs, the seawater intrusion may cause it to retreat faster than predicted. The National Science Goundation announced an over $16 million investment to support shared research infrastructure in artificial intelligence that allows researchers and students access to data to expand knowledge sharing.
